It's amazing how they made the effort to animate the phaser beam for Scotty's phaser -however they didn't include the sound of the phaser which would have been totally cheap.. oops

I don't know why the TOS chronometer was designed the way it was. If you look closely, it jumps from 14:01 to 13:00 to 13:59 and later on from 8:01 to 7:00 to 7:59.
@TheNoiseySpectator3 жыл бұрын
I would bet that as a mechanical device, it was built to run in only one direction; forward. Running backward probably messed it up mechanically, and it no longer worked right.
@Tubewings3 жыл бұрын
@@TheNoiseySpectator The same thing happened in "The Corbomite Maneuver" (which was filmed before "The Naked Time" when it jumped from 2:01 to 1:00 to 1:59. Also, when you see it go forward after Sulu reverses power, it still goes from 7:59 to 7:00 to 8:01.

The time cronometer still uses mechanical spinning dials in the future...just like in, say, 1968 on an alarm clock? Very retro of the ships designers 200 years in the future. This is the same ship where you have to go to a wall speaker on every deck and push buttons to communicate. I think they did this to keep the crew from spending too much time on their cell phones!

When it comes to the ship sequence in space, I prefer the original planet over the CGI. Somehow when on the bridge, the original planet looks a bit more out of focus than it should. Somethings should just be enhanced, not redone.

Oh I disagree, at least once they started spiralling in. I thought the original effects of the ground spiraling underneath them was impressive, and they were one of my favorite in the series. Then I saw the new effects! They must have talked to astronauts about whar they saw as they returned to Earth, or at least looked over video footage! In fact if you watch 5:22 through 5:44, you can see _flames_ starting to come up the sides of the view screen! Good bet the back of the ship was already burning, and the flames were just getting to the front, to totally encompass the whole ship! 😮

@@TheNoiseySpectator _"I thought the original effects of the ground spiraling underneath them was impressive, and they were one of my favorite in the series. "_ I agree 100% When they first go into orbit, the original planet is fuzzy/soft, but over all looks much better than the CGI planet. Just needed to be sharpened/enhanced some, not completely replaced. _"you can see flames starting to come up the sides of the view screen! Good bet the back of the ship was already burning, and the flames were just getting to the front,"_ The thing is when something falls to Earth, the part that starts burning is the part making forward contact with the atmosphere. The heat builds up at the front, the rear section can stay fairly cool. Take a look at John Glenn's Mercury Capsule. They thought the heatshield had slipped, so left the maneuvering rocket packet on. The heatshield is basically the front during re-entry. The heat shield and leading edges were burned, but the tip of the capsule which was at the rear during re-entry had almost no damage.

@@Wailwulf Oh, yes. Then perhaps the Enterprise was just starting to super heat.

Someone said the corridor outside main engineering should not be curved if it is in the lower cylinder and not on the saucer section. However their corridor set was curved, so they had to make do. But maybe they could have put engineering's main door at the end of the straight hallway?

Since they were supposed to document the disintegration of Psi 2000, and lost 3 days, did they return to the planet to watch it disintegrate, or simply move on?
@Tubewings4 жыл бұрын
They most likely moved on since Kirk gave the order to resume course to their "next" destination.
@TheNoiseySpectator3 жыл бұрын
But, addressing the issue of "why?" The science team was already dead. They might have been able to try to save Joe, but the temporal paradoxes that presented would have been nightmarish! Besides, their instruments were probably running during the whole fiasco & collected such info automatically.

Well if they went back in time 3 days, wouldn't their 'next' assignment be the last one?
@TheNoiseySpectator3 жыл бұрын
@@JAMESLEVEE I am troubled that you're overlooking the lives they could have saved by intervening in the crisis. 😦 Maybe they could have gone back and picked up observing at the point they left. Had it been me, I would have done that, too. But used the seventy one hours to clean up the messes that must have been left all over the ship, AND, of course, scrub down all the furniture, table tops and control panels that still had the altered sweat on them! I'm sure you noticed that after Sulu ducked out, everyone who touched the helm controls got the disease, too. Guessing why is not hard. And, I would have observed my past self warping into the past; comparing how it appeared from outside the ship to how it appeared on the inside would have been "especially insightful into the process", as Spock might say. But, Kirk is the Captain, and if he decided to walk away from anything further, we have to believe he knew it was for the best. 🤷♂️

Hi, do you you use a program to extract the clips into your video? If so, which program do you use? Thanks!

The original planet looked better. I've noticed many of the CGI effects were done just for the sake of changing something, instead of trying to make an improvement.

I was hoping the remastered "time warp" sequence would have used more... interesting... CGI effects. Still, nice job otherwise.
