I love Oase. I have the biomaster 350 thermo. Very well built, very effective filter. Love the prefilter and the heater, keeps clutter out of the tank. On Oase filters, if the part is coloured blue, it moves.

I was thinking of getting a oase 350 bio thermo. Hoes the flow rate? Good for a 3ft tank??
@deep6ed8 ай бұрын
@@madhatterjones4781 I'd highly recommend it. The inlet and outlet both have valves so you can turn down the flow if you need to. I can't say it enough, the pre filter sponges are a game changer. It takes 5 minutes to remove the pre filter module, rinse the sponges under a tap and reinstall the clean module. Keeps the main body of the filter clean. I checked out of curiosity after 4 months running time. Impressed just how clean the filter media are.

Great no nonsense video Matt, the Filtosmart 60 looks like a nice little filter. the Oase filters are quite expensive in Australia and sell for $140 Aus dollars. I cut some corners and purchased a cheap SunSun HW603B to try a canister on my 60 litre aquarium, this was $45 Aus dollars so cheap but feels cheap too and is a pain to get open I feel. I have three 60 litre aquariums so would be expensive to purchase three of the Oase.

Great video Matt. You can also convert this to have the heater in it like the Thermo 100. I did this on my Eden 501 (same filter, different name). You just use part number OAS-45047 and then cut the pipe down so it fits in the chamber.

I bought a version of this which is a gravel cleaner. Instead of the inlet/outlet fixtures, it comes with a plastic funnel for siphoning the gravel. I use filter floss instead of the blue sponge though, as the latter doesn't quite cut it for catching all the muck 😂 Works a treat, and I have a spare filter if I ever need it!

Yeah it’s from the “Oase ThermoFit FiltoSmart 100” spares/accessory kit. I use the cap and the black tube to protect the heater from direct contact with any media/foam. Although you need to cut the tube to fit it. I’ve got 2 of these running like this with great results and I pair it with litiaquaria steel tubes for a nice finish.

I put one of these filters on my 10 gallon long and I like it. I used hose clamps instead of the screw on ones as I almost had one come off. I am using the spray bar on the end of my 10 gallon long tank to get the flow running long ways on my tank. I did not like the foam in the intake as the filter slowed down really fast and needs cleaning often. I used SeaChem Matrix for the media. This filter is super quiet too. I really like this little gem. Thanks for reviewing it. The one change I am contemplating is switching the foam to the intake side and moving the media to the other side. I think you could remove the pipe too and it would still work. That way the water hits the mechanical media (foam) first and then the biological. The way it is is backwards IMHO. What do you think about doing this switch?

Pump is IDENTICAL to the older line of ZooMed filters…which have now changed the side locks…which are a bit of a pain. Excellent little filters…but best for smaller than specified capacity tanks as you are doing…if only because they are a bit difficult/time consuming to clean. They run a long time and are reliable…other than the tubing which will gather algae internally and become more difficult to clean with time. Plan on replacing the flexible tubing every year or two.
