Neil Schon is THE violin virtuoso of a guitar fretboard-his melodic solos on Journey songs coupled with the amazing register and soulful singing of Steve Perry are the mojo that makes Journey’s musical catalog a timeless jewel that will be played, enjoyed and loved not only now but for future generations, long after they are gone.

For those of you who feel Neal Schon doesn't care to straighten out his picture frames, he did, many times. He simply gave up long ago, because he didn't want to turn down his amps from 11. LOL

@ 2:55: As a very young teenager growing up in San Francisco...had the fortune to see Neal Schon/Journey play live at Winterland a couple times, which he played that beautiful 1969 Gibson Les Paul Goldtop. The sound from that guitar back in '75 & '76 live through his vintage Marshalls was unreal sounding, up towards the front of the stage. Realize he's selling a load of his collection due to the overwhelming amount of guitars currently owns. Surprise he's letting go couple of the very rare Gibson Les Pauls & Fender Strats. Some of those guitars have quite a sentimental history. Especially during the early stage of Neal Schon's career. Love the personal stories behind some of these gems, up for auction.

Neil and Carlos a match made in heaven. Neil's killer tone and solo's on 3 and Caravanseria as nasty, timeless and fresh now as it was then, just does not get better. Still yet to hear any duo better than these two. No one screams like Neil Schon. Cannot sing his praises enough.

One of the greatest, thank you for the all the great memories! It was a great time for live shows, my first Journey was Calif music festival, I want to say 79 at the LA Coliseum. 3 days of great rock! Saw Journey at Ventura country fair grounds, Billy Squier Opened for them, believe it was escape tour. Next was Rose Bowl show, then Frontiers where Bryan Adams opened. Finally Raised on Radio, which I noticed the vibe being different. I remember Randy Jackson on Bass. Blessed times, best band imo behind the Beatles. Arnell is great however Steve Perry has to have the most powerful an beautiful natural voice Ive ever heard live CONSISTENTLY.
@stevenjones67804 ай бұрын
I was at that Ventura County Fairgrounds show with Squire opening ('82 I think?). I just remember his epic tone and extended soloing. He seemed pissed off to me and he took it out on his leads which was actually great fire breathing energy for us the audience!

@@stevenjones6780 I believe you are right and now knowing the animosity drama they had going on, I wouldnt doubt they had a spat before the show. Very intersting documentary on them and their personal issues but it never stopeed them from puting on a great show.
@stevenjones67803 ай бұрын
@@jorgea3507 'Documentary'? Maybe I shouldn't ask unless I want the drama. I guess part of what we love about great music made by great musicians is their ability to transcend all that. Thanks for the reply.

Monster guitar player. Agreed, his playing today is every bit as good as it ever was. Would love to see if he still has some of his other guitars from back in the day, such as the red Roland Strat-style guitar and his Schon/Jackson NS-6 guitars from the 80's. Also, he has used many different amps over the years, what has he done with all of those?

Neal is the king and watching this makes me happy, but it's an auction company which means that these instruments that made some of the greatest and most memorable music in history were sold to some wall street guys with far more money than talent, who either abused them or stuck them in a glass case on a wall in their "man cave" as a trophy to show off to their other cigar chomping overcompensated buddies. And that makes me sad.

Guys like Neal, Eddie Van Halen (RIP), Joe Perry, Slash, etc. They all like the older guitars and amps, est 1958, 59, etc. With today’s technology and tools and building techniques, you’d think they would be using more modern stuff.

It was different back then. The core instrument was ok but the hardware needed tweaking. I have a '73 LP Deluxe with a brass nut, Grover tuners & a Leo Quan Badass bridge. Modding was pretty standard, which is why seeing so many from the 70s now in mint condition is laughable.

Can’t take the guitars with you when you go bro. That’s the world’s greatest equalizer. You, Carlos, Slash, Joe Bonomassa will find that out eventually. If your lucky you’ll lose them all in fire before you leave. And that way it will insure that knowbody will be picking and plucking your prized possessions after your gone. 😂
@voxpathfinder15r2 жыл бұрын
Proof these vintage guitars aren’t anything special from a modern made guitar. Neil Schon is wealthy enough to hang onto these guitars if they were truly superior. He’s figured out his modern made PRS guitars sound as good or even better, and he’s making out far better getting the $$ out of these relics rather than pretend they have some special unobtainium mojo
