My father was a highway safety engineer and it was drummed into me to never purchase a first-year model. After so many years of improvement, you know what you are getting. I do agree that Toyota has a great reputation, however, there are some hiccups lately. We just purchased a RAV4 Premium Hybrid 2025 and it is amazing. Only time will tell and it will be fun to see what they design. Thank you for your great videos!

At my age (78) I like simplicity and leased an EV (Chevy Bolt) 7 years ago. Easiest vehicle to live with. I'm reasonably happy, though, with my 2024 CRV Hybrid, but would definitely consider a 2026 RAV 4 rather than the almost 7-year-old current model. I'm disappointed in Honda doing away with things that Toyota has kept in hybrids...spare tire, temp guage, tire pressure system for each tire, etc. Having stepped down to a hybrid from an EV, I guess I like the flexibility of the hybrid, so an all-hybrid RAV line would be fine with me, even over a RAV 4 EV. The only Toyota I ever drove was in 1967...here in the U.S. we had small Toyota models, and my demo as a sales rep was the Toyota Corona (smaller than the current Corolla). I would definitely wait, though, for the 2026 RAV 4 rather than investing in 7-year-old technology. Thanks for your good reviews.

REALITY CHECK!! Toyota is accepting orders for the 2025 RAV4 any version but I tried to place an order for one at a number of dealers in Canada. The best availability date I got was 12 months (aka 1 year) with a worst delivery quote of 18 months. That delivery window applies to any of the hybrid versions. Non hybrid versions are 9-12 months. It feels like Toyota may be planning to migrate to a 2026 major redesign and are trying to secure a huge backlog for what is termed an “end of life” build. That would also support a “stack ‘em high and sell ‘em cheap” pricing strategy. In any case lining up for a 12 month queue is ridiculous. But waiting for a 2026 model might mean a 2027/28 delivery. Looks like a lose - lose situation.

I'm holding out for the redesign, and I would be extremely disappointed if, as you say, the exterior is not redesigned. We've been looking at the current RAV4 for 5 years now. Enough already. I really hope you are wrong and we get something sleeker and more modern that stands out, and is worthy of the moniker 'redesign'. And while I maintain that efficiency and reliability are paramount, if I am spending this much on a vehicle, I also have to love the appearance. Which would include some more interesting and adventurous colors. ALL the colors currently offered are staid and absolutely boring. The only one I would consider is blueprint, and honestly we already have a dark blue car, so not even that excited about that. I would be very happy if they offered the PHEV in more basic models. Personally I do not like all the extra gee-whiz features, that are extremely expensive to repair, and really mean little or nothing to me.

I somewhat agree with you. The RAV4 is very expensive (here too, in France) while compared to its direct competitors, it does not offer the services and an interior that justify it. Its main quality, for me, is its powertrain + hybrid system, which seems the most economical in fuel consumption (5.6 l/100 km over 43,000 km!). It lacks practical aspects, which I found on other much cheaper vehicles. TOYOTA must evolve, and give more for this vehicle, because the competition is advancing well...
