I work with Tool. When Peter from Gibson delivered the first prototype of the Jones replica that has the mirror mounted on the head to Tool's studio i happened to be there. He was holding it by the neck and i asked him to turn in over so i could see the back. I pointed to one of the knicks they had duplicated and said "I put that one there". Everyone cracked up immediately. Adam didnt think it was all that funny, but soon after acquiesced. For the record, i did NOT put that knick in there. I stay away from touching any of their gear not in my charge (I'm Danny's synth guy).

@@Three3Nill It’s subjective for sure but the Epiphones still felt like nice budget guitars vs the Gibson feeling like the real thing. I think the Epiphone 59s may be the sweet spot for price to quality. Having owned the both Gibson and Epiphone and I would save the money and find a nice used Gibson. @@indecisivegarage2389I’ve just got my Gibson Adam Jones Standard and can only compare it to my Epi les paul custom from 2022, the difference in quality is indeed noticeable, the wiring, the construction quality, the quality of the hardware, all goes to Standard. Not sure how good newer Epis are but I think they charge crazy money for just the Adam Jones name and Gibson pickups. Most likely the other components are still the same as the one I got in 2022, and it costed me less than $850 at that time.

TOTALLY. Looking at ESP USA now. The Eclipse model is excellent. Better reach and comfort contours. I don’t mind paying a little more for quality. I have a Gibson Les Paul DC. The Epiphone phone model was recently revealed in a video by Cesar where he plays the guitar and in the video you can clearly see it’s a full on silver burst. Teardrop on the front and I swear you can clearly see bursts on the sides of the guitar as well. There is a Seymour Duncan pick up in the bridge and most likely a Probucker in the neck the knurled metal switch tip is present and at first glance for all intents and purposes you might see only the Kalamazoo headstock as the main difference in appearance at first glance but as you know Gibson parts look very different in the subtilest ways. Adam Jones also put out a brief video showing to Guitar in this psychedelic looking video but you can also see the teardrop burst Seymour Duncan pick up switchtip and again at first glance it’s the headstock that stands out as the main difference. That is until you get up close and personal with the parts and specifications. You may have seen these but I didn’t recall any mention of it. If I’m wrong please correct me.

@@bubbabigmin they give mixed messages particularly when Cesar says one thing but if you call customer support their toes something completely different. In this case he said that Guitar was going to be released this year but support says we have no date for you. I’m not holding my breath over it anytime soon I don’t think I’ll personally see one for a year or two with the way things are. I was lucky to get the Gibson standard model out of just sheer happenstance. When I ordered it I was told it wouldn’t be in until October and then a couple weeks later it arrived at my door. It was originally ordered by somebody else but before they got it they canceled however the Guitar had arrived but was then rerouted to me.

Love the channel and I'm a big Tool fan but Gibson and their decisions on production signature models make no sense. The price point is absolutely too high to skimp out on putting the $99 Seymour Duncan pickup in this model. I'm fine with the mahogany neck and even the lack of burst on the back. I know they are made in America so the cost is higher than foreign made guitars. That said you can get extremely well made Japanese guitars with all name brand hardware and electronics for half this price.

I have one of these on order, hopefully I get it some time this decade, Gibson seem to be taking their sweet time with the second production run! The whole Sweetwater "call you every couple months to check on you" thing is _extremely_ annoying and I find it as a huge turnoff.. It feels like borderline harassment at times and is totally unnecessary. Look, if I need something, _I'll_ call them.. Not the other way around! Christ, I just buy strings and silly crap like that, then maybe, once in a blue moon, a pickup set, but other than that, the calls every month or two is kind of creepy and off-putting, IMHO. 🤨 Surely I'm not the only one that feels that way. I get harassed enough with spam and ad's as it is, I really don't need some dude bugging me every other month to make his commission or whatever they're up to. 👎

I think this is great and all, and honestly I wasn't a buyer for this particular model before anyone else says it, but they lost me at the mahogany neck. All of my Les Pauls over the years have been maple-necked Norlin era guitars, and for me nothing else will do. That is a key feature of Adam's guitar, regardless of whether they slightly altered the shape of the neck, which I don't personally agree with either.

@@glynnpowell7864 You might not want to take that bet. I remove the finish from the neck on most of my instruments. Anyone can tell the difference between a smooth 3-piece maple slim taper and a slightly grainier 1-piece mahogany fatty when there's no paint on it. Perhaps you're making this about tone, which I didn't mention, although you can't possibly think that a maple/ebony will feel and sound just like a mahogany/rosewood. If so, I implore you to try both of them together in a similar circumstance. You may be pleased with your ability to tell the difference. What I said is that the maple is for me, and I am a Norlin guy. I live in southeast texas, the maple with a volute holds up better. Just one of several reasons I have for my preference, including the shape.

I don't care if it's production or not, I can get those pickups (and much higher end pickups) on Japanese Ibanez models for at least $1k cheaper. If this were about $500 cheaper I may consider it just because I'm a massive Tool fan. But combined with what I mentioned, and the poor QC reviews have been mentioning about this guitar, I just can't do it. Such a shame. Got mine a couple months ago absolutely love it. I did purchase a Seymour Duncan custom shop Adam Jones Duncan Distortion which is the same pick up used in the custom model. Aside from that the Chicago music exchange T type neck pick up is one that I will be using in place of the burstbucker at some point so it can get closer to what I believe are original specs. If I’m not mistaken didn’t 70s Les Pauls often come with a T top pick ups? These just emulate T tops. However emulate or not they have their own distinct sound that really complements the jonesbucker. After putting in the custom shop pick up I took the DC hi game and put it in my Chicago music exchange SG which has a T type set of pick ups and the neck pick up in this guitar sounds phenomenal on its own and I often just played the neck pick up rarely using the bridge at all. Anyway my point being is I paired the DC high gain with the T type in that SG and the combination of the two are incredible.

Hi there guys! Hope you’ve had a great day!! Another Adam Jones LP…like groundhogs day almost. 😂😂 Actually I would love one of these! I love Tool and Adam Jones. So really I’m just being a jealous idiot. 😬😂

@@stop736 LOL, Greetings Cynthia, Yes, it is kind of like Groundhog Day. I still remember the very first time I saw a Silverburst Les Paul Custom. It was 1979 and it was a new finish, friends and I walked into the local music store and didn't really know what to think of it. 40+ years later I'm still kind of on the fence about that finish. We are still waiting for rain, I was so hoping to have a rainy day filled with long napping and sandwiches! LOL

Trogly, I spent $3000 on this guitar brand new, now I see the prices on those guitars are going down insanely you can find almost a new one for 2K. Why is this happening? Have we been fooled by Gibson by paying so much money for something that it doesn’t hold the value not even just a little bit? I love mine this is a great guitar. I don’t understand. Why is this happening?

Don't care for Adam Jones, or Tool, but nowadays you can't play a silverburst anymore without the connection to AJ or his band. Dude claimed that color on all his models. Let's hope he does a LP Deluxe in silverburst...

@@pandaman1968 with out seeing it, it is rather hard to say it could be temperature related, or simply age (depending on how old). Could even be wrong polished used I however would be less likely it to think it the wood as cracks in the wood wood be more likely long or short vertical fractures or where any joints occurs. that could be from knocks but if the case I suspect it would be more obvious etc. What you could do take a shot of it and contact a few guitar repairs sent the shots to them and see what they think. Hope this is of some help.

does it have the stupid raised nibs on the neck binding? Had to return two Gibson Flying V's because the e string would jam between the nibs and the frets all the way up the neck.

I don't care about Brian Jones teardrop I had a teardrop dulcimer and I gave it up to a girl as a gift. And the flaws are insane! Nobody should justify an American made guitar with any flaws in it, that's not right! There are so many clones and better-suited in electronics (mainly split-coils, grounded compartments inside the guitar never rmind the arcade kill switch I already have one for my archtop. At this time my son has a Harley Benton and that was the first 24.75 scale length that I liked. And why does Gibson always use the binding to block the frets? Answer - it's cheaper and it degrades any Luthier to touch it. Fret are a metal. Metal moves, that's why the frets are dress to be shiny on their ends, they look better too with less problems and it will be a problem as the fretboard starts puffing out the fret nibs, then the dots or markers - 3, 5, 7 etc...

So I received mine today and first of all, thank you so damn much for the video breaking it down. So, to be honest, I played it through 2 different tube amps and it sounds...crappy. my other Les Paul and my Schecter sound better than this. Once I get tonthe 14th fret I find it doesn't hold tune properly. First impressions is Guitar Center is gonna be getting a return. I'm going to keep tweaking the nobs and maybe put differnet strings on. Pretty bummed for what I spent.

Wish they would address the Tool (ha) marks on the fretboard binding. I get that they are done by hand but they look rushed and it’s a deal breaker for a lot of people. Not to mention more fuel for the anti Gibson cult 😂 Sounds and looks great though. Great value compared to the custom if you can get over the minor binding issue
