I’ve found that the most comfortable way to deploy the ad15 is to work the stud and flick it at the same time. The scorpion lock is cool and steampunky but there is definitely a lot of mass there to overcome.

YEAH!!! Work that stud by overcoming its' mass while flicking and gripping its' stiff textured construction. I heard they really start to loosing up after that, especially if you add some lube to that p joint.

I haven't been watching your videos for very long but I really enjoy what I have seen. Ive been debating purchasing the Ontario survival knife but all the review videos I have seen suck pretty bad. Just wanted to say that I will love you unconditionally if you review the Ontario 499 survival knife.

The 499 is a review I plan on doing. It will be a month or two before I get to it to... I don't live in a place I can properly review or use a fixed blade. I had some out of the box problems with the knife... rattling crossguard, and a sheath that wouldn't snap. While they ultimately swapped out a knife for me, their customer service isn't 100% great. They often don't return simple emails after you initially send in your knife... which would have prevented them from sending it back to the wrong address... (they shipped it after I sent them emails saying to hold off on shipping). And the crossguard was kind of glued back in place, and it still rattled. Also the sheath is designed in such a way that the rivets on the inside scrape off the coating every time the knife is unsheathed. Ontario makes other knives in this price range that have a better fit and finish. Like the SP2, and SP1. Ka-Bars leather stacked handles are more expensive, but overall better knives.

@@AdvancedKnifeBro I was going to get the kabar survival/ fighting knife because I live in Alaska and don't want to get mauled by a bear. Although I respect kabars I'm not a marine and I don't know any marines so I don't want to be a poser. I looked at the dogshead, as well as watched your review, but I decided I would look farther into the 499. All in all I just want to find a large fixed blade knife that I can camp with and if needed, to protect myself from wildlife, another person, etc.

So we moved to CA. We are staying with family a few months while my job background checks are in progress, before we decide on a location. We need to get the job thing nailed down before we decide on a place to live to minimize a shitty commute. It is a long process, and we're staying in a spare bedroom. It's a little too complicated a situation to explain at length in a video... I'm doing ok though. And by owning a house- I mean I've been a renter all my life. Student loans into your 40s bro? Good luck with the relocation, hopefully its worth it when it's over and your settled. Assuming the relocation isn't because your running from the feds I think things will work out well for you. Best of luck pal, be careful in California I've heard they don't have the best laws regarding advanced knife bros.

Great video. But I am mainly interested to know if the coldsteel is anywhere near as tightly constructed on the inside as the Demko. The strength of the folder against lateral forces is partly a consequence of how tight a fit the pivot is in the blade hole and the alignment pins in the scales.

I got the AD15 and AD10 two days apart , I couldn't resist. The blade on my AD15 was a little stiff like yours , but now it just drops shut , but I don't know if that's a good thing because the Scorpion lock can be a little tricky and I already giliteened the tip of my finger , so Buyer Beware , the Scorpion lock definitely bites . But both knives are still Fuckin Awesome . You definitely need to get the AD10 ✌⚔

I have to agree that the texture Cold Steel AD-15 is really aggressive texturing for pocket carry. If it was less aggressive it would be a really, really good knife. I am looking into getting custom scales for it with less aggressive texturing and in a different color and/or material. I am not the biggest fan or OD green.
