As a OneWorld Emerald living in Spain, Finnair to Asia is a very viable and cost effective option. I find Finnair's hard and soft product offerings to be an exceptional value when compared to other OneWorld options from Barcelona to Asia such a Qatar, which would be double the price (or more) for a business class seat. I also like the SkyLounge seat and have no complaints. It is much roomier than fully motorized articulated seats offered by the competition, just takes a little getting used to. Very nice job, this is easily one of the best Finnair reviews I’ve seen! As a budget traveller, I can only dream of visiting the sauna in their Platinum Lounge, so it’s nice to see some footage of it! 😂 You should definitely try a reindeer fillet or sauteed reindeer next time in Finland. I believe those lounge burgers do not contain much reindeer at all. Good to hear you had a pleasant experience with Finnair despite some shortcomings. So far I’ve only had the opportunity to try out their Business Class on a short hop in Europe.

I've been flying back and forth between Rovaniemi and Helsinki with Finnair for a couple of years now and we've always boarded in groups. I have no clue why they wouldn't be consistent and do the same on much bigger and longer flights as well.

Thank you - a very thorough, entertaining and eloquent review. Finnair's Business product is a bold move, with some nice, innovative touches. It will be interesting to see how it performs, especially as they no longer seem to be undercutting the market in terms of price. Asia is potentially their biggest market although they're up against stiff competition and the Russian airspace issue may be damaging.

Great review! Thank you Ken! You are absolutely right about the Finnish hospitality. That plus their design language (Marimekko and Iittala too, both my favorites) makes me a returning customer. The food was... mediocre... Cold dishes and the cheese plate are better in my opinion... It's airplane food anyway. Just give me more blueberry juice. I tried their other two cabins as well. Y was your European standard compensated with blueberry juice. PEY was... okay. It's a modern hard product with a slightly elevated soft product. The best part is its cozy small cabin. Will I do that again? Maybe? But not cash fare. Same as other PEYs out there, the bump in ticket price doesn't give you a proportional upgrade. So, work harder on points to get J or suck it up in Y... (btw I actually like the AirLounge. As the name suggests, perfect for lounging)

Very nice review, however, be a little nicer to the crew when you find something is not in order. Like the trash you found. It's after all not her fault. She's there to save your life if something happens. So a bit politeness isn't harmful. Take care now. :) Nice glasses btw.

When the reviewer pointed out the trash to the flight attendant, he wasn’t blaming her personally - just as the flight attendant didn’t apologize on her personal behalf. She apologized on behalf of Finnair, that did not meet the expectations inherent in the price of an expensive ticket. In a business relationship customers should be courteous but not apologetic about pointing out the shortcomings of goods and services for which they’ve paid.

Last time I flew with them was long ago when the airport lounge was under construction lol The seat was smaller and less privacy than this one. Anyway, this version is similar to Qatar which I like. Looking forward to experience it’s soon.

I had a business class flight on Finnair Bangkok to Sydney. Those seats on a 9 hour flight are nothing short of murderous. You can’t recline the seat! I was talking to one of the flight attendants toward the end of the flight and I told her the seats were shocking. She agreed! Never again Finnair!

Hmmm. 🤔. I’m just not impressed with the chaotic boarding process and IMHO, there is absolutely NO EXCUSE for the trash left at your seat. The Flight Attendant was clearly embarrassed to death when you pointed it out 😕. The meals just seemed to be so so. I hope Finnair can one day invest more into its inflight meals and straighten out its boarding procedures because deep down I think it’s a good company 😊
