Congrats! I'm building mine up right now. Decided to go with 100mm fork, no dropper, 11 speed, 2.2" tires for a very simple, fast XC ride. Should be about 21.5-22lb when done. Enjoy the bike!

You as well! And yes one of the cool things about this frame is it can be built as a pure light weight XC ripper, or more of a trail shredder. I would like to try 100mm, 120mm, and 140mm forks on it eventually to see how it manages.

My Steel Yo Eddy was 22.5lbs with a Rock Shocks Judy SL and Sachs/Shimano, and Kooka drive train with Mavic wheelset and 2.125 tires. Interlock seat post with original Bontrager ti rail saddle. Bike weight has become less of a focus than it was then, that build is probably far better than mine was. Looking at a DV9 for my next hardtail. Currently riding my 907 fatbike with rigid 29+ wheels for summer. It does ok, but a little boat like on the flow trails.

It’s a great bike. It’s also a bike that can get really light with a higher spec build. It’s impressive how well it climbs but still eats trail going downhill fast.

I built one (lg purple) frame up. it has goldilocks geometry I went with 1700 DT Swiss wheels, Fox (orange) factory step cast 120 mm. And all the other good stuff. Rides so so good fast up and down

Sounds awesome! Where did your total weight end up? I am stoked to get it on some real trails once the snow/mud leaves us.

Just ordered the GX version at the 25% off sale price earlier this morning. Same reason as you - had to get that price. Can’t wait to ride my green/blue local flow and XC trails on it. I wanted the mud color, but it’s hard to find in L now. I have G2 brakes on my SC Heckler and they seem to be more than up to the task on that heavy bike, so I’m actually glad to have another set.

Nice, congrats! I am dying for my trails to dry out here but we are pretty much in mud season now. I think these G2 brakes will definitely work well, it’s really been the feel at the lever with SRAM, but so far these actually feel quite good.

@@ElevationEveryWeekend Oh, hey, I’m getting some farkles for the bike. Could you let me know whether the G2 brake levers on yours have the integrated shift/dropper mounts? My Heckler has RE, which has integrated mounts. It’s printed right under the logo on the reservoir. But I’m not sure whether they all have the integrated feature.

I looked at the DV9 when they first came out. The base build was $2200 and would have bought one if they had it in the bone color. Went with a Surly KM upgraded to 29 inch wheels for about 800 less. Since then I did upgrade the wheels to Ibis and shaved off about 2 lbs.

Hi Tommy: congrats on the new bike. I enjoy your fat bike content, and was happy to see this different style of bike. I am still learning about bike-types, components, etc. I feel you do a good job of describing the bike and components regarding their intended use. I can’t recall if you have a bike in your possession that has front suspension. On your future videos with the DV9, I would be interested in hearing how that front suspension fork affects the ride. Thanks for providing varied content on your channel and for your clear descriptions. I look forward to hearing more about your DV9 adventures!

Thanks for watching!! I have done a number of other hardtail 29er videos, and those would touch on the front suspension. As for fat biking, I actually had a Manitou Mastodon Pro fork on the Borealis Crestone, I did a video on the fork itself, and some trail riding videos with that bike as well, those may be exactly what you are looking for!

Wouldn't mind seeing you test this with a 130mm fork. Very slightly slacker, I suspect it won't change the feel that much though.

Having the bike in the foreground was definitely not ideal, I usually try to make these videos outside in natural light, but cold and snow has been the issue there
