From working on the retail end of the beauty space, my take on the real reasons they have made these changes are this: First, if they don't publish the whole calendar, it makes it more difficult for their competitors (Sephora) to advertise their echo sales. For the last 5 or so years, Sephora has run what are essentially price-matching sales for all of the 21 days items. Historically the first few days are a little loose and imperfectly executed for Sephora, because they don't necessarily know what the sales they need to match are until the calendar gets out. This weekly strategy gives them less time to prepare. Second, if competitors can't plan for the whole event, neither can shoppers. The weekly strategy means they *can't* make informed purchasing decisions. The hope is that most people will spend more overall, because of fomo and not being able to plan out their purchases for the entire event😊. It would not surprise me if the "best" sales come towards the end of the event, to get those last "can't miss" sales in, even if many have already spent their allotted budget.

I have honestly never liked how the sale was set up. I'm not going to drive an hour to Ulta several times a week to get the one thing I want that's on sale on one particular day. I'm also not going to put one thing in my online cart and pay for shipping multiple times a week just to get a sale price.

That is the main reason I don't like how these sales are set up. I don't want to have to make a purchase every day or 2. They think it makes people buy more but in my case, I would tend to buy less. I will skip buying some products b/c I don't want to make a purchase every day. You know what... I changed my mind. It is a GREAT sales strategy. Don't change a thing. 😂😂😉

Here’s my (bad) experience with Ulta’s sale: saw the EL night serum for 50% off. Scooped up a bottle for in store pickup. 5 minutes later I got a confirmation email that my order would be ready for pickup in two hours. Great! 10 minutes later I got an email canceling my order without giving any reason. I called my local store who said they were out of stock, so I ordered it for delivery via snail mail. Went into the store that evening and saw about TEN bottles of what I tried to order for pickup!! So, bottom line is DON’T order for in store pick up because they have no clue what’s in stock and what’s out of stock. As far as the sale is concerned, I’d you do shop and order for mail delivery, and you buy 6-7 things over the first week, you have to pay for all those items being individually shipped?! That’s just crazy. I won’t be buying anything else for mail delivery. I’ll stick with Sephora.

Just something I forgot to mention...these deals are still DAILY deals (like before), so they're only good for 24 hours, not the whole week. They're just releasing the calendar a week at a time, if that makes sense. 🥰🥰

Jen, I'd love to see you try the Live Tinted Hueguard tinted sunscreen. Once it clears for sale in Canada, I'm definitely going to try it. I've been using their Superhue Hyperpigmentation stick and my Melasma has reduced to the point that I can use a sheer tint foundation in case you need a rec for new skincare to try. The only issue I have is the price and the amount of product as it can finish fast if used every day.

It might be best to see them in store first to see if they will work for your skin tone. I wear Golden Hour a lot and I am more neutral/warm. Hi Jen, I appreciated the Diamond/Platinum preview day. We all know the best way to cash in Ulta points is in increments of $125. So, the preview was a great way to maximize my points. I use the Estée Lauder advanced night repair serum and I purchased the $245 jumbo size half off and then paid for it with my points so I got it free. I was disappointed that the preview was not all the products. My opinion is that platinum or diamond members should get a chance to buy all the products in the sale on the preview day, so you can make the best of most of your points.

I use the Excuviance face Exfoliating pads and I LOVE IT! I've been told it is THE best brand for the chemical Exfoliating pads out there. I highly recommend it and I use only 1 pad 2 times a week and I've never had any issues. Try it, I think you will like them. Makes me skin glow and feel really soft.

I purchased the EL Advanced Night Repair Serum because I have been using it twice daily since my early twenties. Now even at age 61 I constantly get compliments on my skin. It is my can't live without product and worth every penny. The EL Doublewear foundation, IT Cosmetics CC creme and brushes as well as Too Faced blush and Mac paint pot in Painterly are products I will look for.

Hey Jen! So, about Tula.. I bought a starter pack of theirs when they first went into Ulta. There was 4 deluxe sized products, and I ended up having to return it. I don't have sensitive skin, breakouts are rare for me (but I do get the occasional zit), and I have oily skin. The reason I returned the set is bc their toner was waaay too harsh for my skin. Not only did it make my face feel like it was burning when I put it on, it also dried my skin out like crazy. For a comparison reference, the Neutrogena toner (it's in a blue bottle) is the only other toner that dried me out and made my skin burn in the same way. So, if you're good with the Neutrogena one, the Tula may work for you as well. The other things were "meh." There was a cleanser, a moisturizer, and I think an eye cream with a small travel bag. None of those really stood out to me, so I haven't bought anything from Tula since. Thank you so much for taking the time to break down Ulta's new sale system for us! I'm really not a fan of it. I get the feeling that Ulta is trying to artificially create hype around their sale by forcing customers to keep going back and checking what's on sale. Thing is, with them doing it this way, if someone spends all their money at the beginning of the sale, there's a chance they won't be able to buy a bigger ticket item towards the end of the sale. OR.. say someone does save their money for the last week by not buying anything the first 2 weeks, but then there's nothing they really want from that last week. Idk, I just think this system is counter productive, bc the uncertainty makes people that much more hesitant to buy anything, so they could be losing a lot of sales just bc they wanna be secretive. Just doesn't make sense to me for them to make it harder for people to purchase from them. Ok, sry for the novel, Jen! Hope the rest of your week is a great one :)

Belief night mask is amazing for dry skin. I bought two at last year’s Ulta sale. It is sticky and the smell is not great but The difference the morning after using is amazing. My face feels so soft and plump and super hydrated. It has also helped me as I navigate the periodic increases in my Tretinoin dosage. A lifesaver!

If you’re tempted by the belief sleeping mask, I would recommend skipping it and instead try the abib probiotic hydrating mask. I’ve tried both and the abib mask is everything I was hoping the belief mask would be, and the abib mask is at a fraction of the price. I have dry skin too so a lot of hydration products just disappear on my skin, the abib mask is one of the few products I’ve tried that actually kept me hydrated and glowy for more than 1 hour.

i absolutely LOVE the peach and Lily hydrating cleanser. I always thought the 29 was too much, I thought maybe something like 21 to 24 would be more appropriate so I will be stocking up. It's just a really nice really simple moisturizing cleanser. And not like sticky moisturizing either. I really love the simplicity, a lot of the peach and lily products.

I guess I don’t care how the sale is presented. Honestly I don’t buy much from the 21 days of beauty, it feels like it’s always repetitive and mostly things I don’t use. This sale seems to have better products. I already bought 3 from the pre-sale. I will buy the MAC serum. I already use it and while it is fragrant (doesn’t bother me) it makes my skin soft but not too moisturized. I have combo skin. I will also buy the Cosrx niacinamide and the KP bump eraser for my son. I really like and appreciate this video. I put the items in my love list and will purchase them as they come up. I hope you do one each week because I won’t remember to look at the ad every week.

Thank you for going over all this, Jen! As you say, a lot of products to cover. Most of these I have never heard of. I do have experience with two of the products. The IGK spray leave in conditioner is one I currently use. I am 73 with dry gray hair. This does so many things, it reduces frizz, helps bond the hairs, and adds shine. My hair is looking so much better after using this product. Highly recommend. The other is the MAC hyper serum. I don't currently have this but have used it recently. I have dry skin and this feels good going on and seems to help keep my skin moisturized and seems to reduce wrinkles. I have other serums that I am using now so won't get it this time. I do highly recommend it and will probably get it when I run out of my other serums. As you mentioned, there are so many skincare products and we only have one face. :) I did order two of the Two Faced Cloud Crush blushes on Sunday (I had early access). I already have two and wanted more.

I do like the old way they did their sale. As u went through the sale there was just a few I liked. The Grande Brow Serum & the Two Face Blush! Everything else I’m not that excited for. I have used the IGK dry shampoo it’s ok not my favorite. My favorite is the Moroccan dry shampoo for light tones! It smells amazing & doesn’t leave yr hair w/that cast for days. I haven’t tried any other IGK hair products. Thank you for doing this video. Much appreciated! U look stunning! Love yr hair & makeup in this video! ❤❤

I loved Mac Studio fix when I was younger. It makes your skin look flawless. Sadly, now that my skin has become much drier it does not look good on my skin. I end up looking very powdery and parched. If you have normal to oily skin you will love it if you like a matte finish.

Love Kendra hair products! I only wish they’d figure out the spray nozzle on their aerosol hairspray. It always clogs up on me so I stopped buying it out of sheer frustration. 😫 They do have fabulous stuff though. My red hair is every texture imaginable but also thinning as I age. I’m 55. Also, I really like the Pureology Color Fanatic leave in. It’s a great detangler and protectant, even though I don’t color my hair.
