lmao. The next Kobe? Y’all acting like we are looking for the next kobe. Kobe was an inefficient ball hog who shot an abysmal 44% for his career. He also is a very very very poor performer in the Nba finals post Shaq. lebron and jordan lead the way in PER. Kobe is ranked #30 in career PER. There is a reason for that. Nobody with a brain is looking for the next Kobe lol. I know he is dead and all, but man come on. Let’s stop with this elevation of Kobe. Lebron and MJ are far far ahead of Kobe.
@d3adyoutubeaccount
@d3adyoutubeaccount Ай бұрын
@@jrsmith1998This is what happens when you only watch ESPN rather than games. No, Kobe was not a ballhog. Kobe needed to shoot the most out of everyone in his prime because his supporting cast was weak. Kobe was actually really unselfish during his championship runs and had a lot of ball movement. No, Kobe was efficient, you pretty much just proved you’re a casual, Kobe’s true shooting percentage is proof of this. Kobe also had his prime in the dead ball era, where paces were at an all time low. Kobe was also a great finals performer, look at his run in 2009, he performed great, even in 2010 he performed great, you’re probably referencing 2010 but you need context for that, that was a tough series where they were trapping Kobe because of his lack of high scoring options, same thing goes with 2008. All respect to Pau Gasol, Lamar Odom, Andrew Bynum and everyone else but they were not elite scoring options. Let alone the options that LBJ had. LBJ has never won without a 27+ PPG scorer and has a losing finals record. Let’s also not forget that if you’re using PER, is Anthony Davis your 4th best player ever? PER is a flawed stat that doesn’t tell you the full story. Although Kobe didn’t have weak finals performances if you factor in context, LeBron has not performed well in a lot of finals (which is partially because of the amount of he played), I can make the same argument of MJ being inefficient because of his similar true shooting percentage and him leading the league in missed shots more times than Kobe, MJ also didn’t play against zone defenses and was constantly saved by the whistle. That’s no disrespect to the GOAT but he wasn’t much more efficient if at all than Kobe when you factor in context. Please watch the games so you can really understand why people praise Kobe to the level of LBJ and MJ, stats don’t point that out but if you watch those games then you can understand why Kobe is praised so much. There’s a reason why nearly every player who played against Kobe considers him top 5. 🤷‍♂️

I think one of the best examples of this was Dwight Howard. People joke around about him now but in the early 2010's he was a beast roller and defender. But Shaq kept going on TV saying he should post up to be like Shaq and it got into his head. A harden Howard pick and roll would have been an amazing weapon but Dwight let Shaq get in his head and stopped working in the pick and roll and kept trying to just post up

One thing to note in this discussion is at one point Kobe was called the next MJ. Jayson Tatum,Devin Booker, and Andrew Wiggins were not compared to Kobe coming into the league, these comparisons only came after Kobe gave these players his co-sign. I think fans like the idea of Kobe handpicking his successor, the guy who can be to Kobe what Kobe was to Mj. This isn't really fair to the young players trying to define their own legacy.

Yeah, Kobe did the Jordan comparison to himself, he wanted to be the next guy up, the only way being showing to the actual guy that you're next in line, Kobe wanted that smoke and grew because of it, Booker just wanted appreciation, hints, guidance, a friend, instead he gain comparisons with a legend, something he never asked for and something that will hunt him.

book would be getting 1st or 2nd team all defensive votes this year if he played for a market like the lakers tbh. #1 is defensive rating for all 2 guards.

I really like the points you made. Players should be left alone to devolep into the best versions of themselves they could. Imagine Hayley Williams being constantly bombarded by Madonna comparisons or what not! It would certainly not help Paramore sound better at any capacity.

It's interesting that you did this video around the same time the Bulls-Clippers game was on. Last night, at some point Stacey King mentioned "Kobe Deciphles" and I immediately thought of Zach Lavine, DeMar Derozan and Paul George. Out of those three players who grew up idolizing Kobe, only one of them actually plays like him and that's Derozan. PG is more of a T-mac comparison and Lavine is more of a Vince Carter. Despite the fact that they idolized Kobe, they still played their own game. As I watched this video, you touched on players playing like a poor imitation of Kobe at times because of comparisons (despite their natural skill set) and I'm glad that it isn't always the case. Also, Hayley Williams

lmao. nigga please.

I want to look at the way people pose the question of how players from different eras stack up against each other. The what-ifs like how would Michael Jordan do in today's NBA? I think this question goes beyond skill and what they accomplished. The fact that pulling someone out of their world would have ramifications that are hard to quantify. I'm just wondering about the logistics of taking someone from a time and place then dropping them where you see fit. It wouldn't just change the people they are playing against but their ENTIRE life. Everyone they ever knew is back in the place they left (coaches, family , ect). That would have to have huge ramifications on their game. I'm assuming that when people conceive this thought experiment it's like a Battleworld type situation where the athletes in question are transported to a neutral playing field from wherever they might be in time/space when they "plucked" them out. Then not only would skill be a factor but more so versatility and mental fortitude to adjust to this life changing phenomena. When you think about these scenarios are the players plucked out at their prime and made to play against the people you want to compare them too? Or do they grow up in the era that you try to place them with their innate attributes? Theoretically at that point they could grow to become a different person who doesn't even like sports at all.

That's the part about Kobe's career that has gotten lost over time, not only did Kobe want to destroy his opponents on offense, he would gladly run back on the other side and clamp down on defense. A lot of stars today only play on one side of the court almost like defense doesn't exist.
