Same. I'd also skip the sound deadening. It's a GTR. dude is going to have a sweet engine and likely a nice chonky exhaust. And RB26's sound so nice, you don't even bother with a sound system in some cases. I reckon Kalvin should put the battery in LHS rear (opposite to drive) as it helps with corner weighting while the driver is inside

Watching from New Zealand, we have a great GTR community here too. I've had an R33 and used Dynamat for interior sound dampening. Absolutely fantastic product and has a couple of different options that you can use.

On my vl restoration here in Australia I used a 1l 1k epoxy flat black, applied with a roller. Minimal masking,takes about an hour per coat and turned out great. Then threw the car builder catalogue at it and couldn’t be happier

Epic content as always. Base/clear is the way to go, no bedliner on this type of restoration. And just use Dynamat. There is a reason everything is a dynamat “competitor”. Otherwise check out what Five Star uses, they do insulation all day every day and if they e moved to something else it’s worth checking. Cannot wait to see those shelves in and watch you build this thing up!!! Lets go!

I would stay oem. Remember, anything you do by adding material also adds weight. I also think many of your potential clients will want things done to oem spec. This car is afterall a showpiece of your capabilities. If a client down the road wants bedliner you can always do it on their car and document the process and results then. Sound deadening is great because it is easily removable. Spray on bedliner, not so much. I realise I have nothing to do with your company, but I can imagine your future shop with a nice waiting room, with a big screen tv playing a professionally edited video showcasing the build process of this car from beginning (rust is to a minimum) to completion, showing the immaculate attention to detail and what clients can expect for their own cars. That may be way off from what you envision, but I like many viewers are living vicariously through you. In the end you need to do what you think is best and we'll still happily be along for the ride...

Car is minty fresh from now on it's just assembly (great for youtube content). I agree with the others to just do regular paint with clearcoat, it's OEM and provides good protection (what are you even gonna dent/scratch under a carpet?). As for the build itself I'd strongly urge you to take it easy with the power because once you go down that road it's more "race car" not "street car" (stiff coilovers, stiff clutch, etc). The HKS twins sound like a great idea for a clean steet build (you can still almost double your power) or go with a modern efficient single like a Borgwarner EFR
@datboi8140
@datboi8140 20 күн бұрын
For the interior id go base/clear, most OEM, and clear coat is very flexible as opposed to bedliner, and the interior doesn’t even need bedliner-type protection as sound deadening would protect it just fine and it’s not exposed to the elements

Great work man, the most drooling process is over with no one likes doing underbodies but its a must for these chassis. Assembly will be more fun, for the interior i suggest going with base/clear. Everything is going to be covered with sound deadening like you said and I feel like the sound deadening would be easier to apply over a smooth surface than a rough one. Goodluck on the build man

cant wait for the engine build. If I had to vote on rims go for blacked out CE28N's. and plz PLZ.... don't do Nismo style exposed LED style tail lights. Instead change out the filament style bulb to a aftermarket LED bulb so it will have the OEM looking style but the tail light will shine brighter 👍

I might be going against everyone else but have you considered LizardSkin Ceramic Insulation. If it was me and I had it this tore down I would do everything I could to sound and heat insulate on top of the factory padding. I used it in my Nova along with amazon basic sound deadener and its a noticeable difference.

Color match bed liner inside cabin, not only be more durable. But also add thay much more sound deadening to the chais esp for these 90's shells. Itll help cut back on road noise. Which makes for a far nicer and more luxurious droving exp. 💪🙌🙏🔥

@KalvinMalli
@KalvinMalli 20 күн бұрын
I don’t really have any imperfections to hide to be fair. That’s why I think would be nice to do the base and clear to show it off. And I’m not looking at sound dampening differences as they are minimal. That’s what the sound deadening is for!😎 At the moment leaning towards base/clear as it would also let me avoid buying more products 😂

Interior coat? Whatever weighs less. Like you said, you're putting sound deadening on there and carpet on top, so really I'd just keep it simple and use whatever leftover clearcoat u have. Also you missed a joke about keeping dust to a minimum ;\ If you're going with HKS cams, get some HKS GT III-RS for max power, or SS for lower lag and more fun. Since you asked and not concerned about weight, you can put dynamat everywhere. Its a relatively non-specialist thing to do yourself, but since you have the spray tools, I'd encourage you to use a sprayable sound deadener and just keep it as thin as tolerable. Re; drivetrain - eagle pistons (or any forged pistons) will be fine for 700hp. I've got CP 87mm pistons and Spool conrods on a stock crank, but I changed the compression ratio to 9.0:1 instead of stock 8.5:1 and I run flex fuel, with E85 being my fuel of choice - also that GTR chassis is one of the best in the world now that you've restored it, but some extra chassis bracing would not go astray
