YES. more than anything else, this NFL on CBS theme converted me from sports hater to football fanatic

This song was the anthem of the long-dominant NFC during this time. I hear this and remember a time when the NFC seemed like they were playing a different game altogether from the other conference.

When the electric guitar melody kicks in I choke up. I'm 21 years old and haven't heard this version of the theme until maybe a couple of weeks ago. It really catches me off guard when I start to cry at anything. It's the greatest compliment I can give any piece of music.

We didn’t have cable TV for a time in the 90’s and I remember having to tune in to the Sunday Night NFL games on radio. This was the theme I remember hearing those Sunday Night games on radio up until 1999.

Games aired on Westwood One, which happened to be operated by CBS Radio for a long time.

This is what helped me remember and enjoy this theme. If we were out running errands on a Sunday afternoon, we'd turn on the car radio and CBS Westwood's coverage included this tune well after CBS lost the TV rights following 1993. And I still occasionally listen to the games on the radio today when needed. I can not even recall the music they play now, it just sounds unremarkable.

I got goosebumps as an 8 and 9 year old watching Cowboy games whenever this came on. Then Pat Summerall said we here live from Texas Stadium. Thank God there are many many classic games especially from 1992 and 93 that has this theme.

This theme music was heard of some NFL on CBS play-by-play announcers back in the day (1992 version): * Pat Summerall. * Verne Lundquist. * Dick Stockton. * Jim Nantz. * Tim Ryan. * Sean McDonough. * James Brown. * Mike "Doc" Emrick.

I can't be the only one that hears Pat Summerall's voice in my head at the 0:20 mark welcoming you to a stadium. Since I have lived in Pittsburgh my whole life and the Steelers usually played at 1, my mom would usually put on whatever CBS game was at 4. Great memories

From 1986 to 1993 the NFL on CBS had a plethora of distinguished announcers. Whatever way people felt about these announcers, there is no denying that they had a loaded list of accomplished announcers. On the play-by-play side, their main announcers were Pat Summerall, Verne Lundquist, Dick Stockton, Jim Nantz, James Brown, and Tim Ryan, all of whom have had remarkable careers that speak for themselves. They also at various points had Brad Nessler, Sean McDonough, and Doc Emrick. And of course, Greg Gumbel was their studio host. On the analyst side, they had the likes of John Madden, Terry Bradshaw, Dan Dierdorf, Joe Theismann, Dan Fouts, Randy Cross, Matt Millen, Hank Stram, and Merlin Olsen either throughout this whole time or for parts of it. Like all of the pbp guys listed, these analysts all had distinguished careers of their own in the broadcasting booth. People can have varying opinions on these and all other announcers, but what can't be denied is the objective accomplishments of them.

Beautiful theme….. Last time I heard this (that I can recall ever) was right before the Cowboys v 49ers 1992 NFC Championship game when I was like 10 yrs old. I just recall this because there was like a 5 second blackout pause before this intro song came on showcasing the game, and I was extremely nervous being a Cowboys fan who, honestly, was not expecting the best outcome due to playing at Candlestick Park. Undeniably, IMO still the best NFL theme I have heard and gives me so many memories of those great seasons in the 90’s. The new themes suck and I can’t stand them!!!
