The coin star was likely removed because it's far too easy to get a insane amount of coins in Mario party 6. Also ur lamp light gets in ur glasses and it doesn't look too great.
@cowboyluigi52753 жыл бұрын
also probably because the coin star winner is also often the minigame winner, as both are determined by high coin counts.

I am gonna be honest here i disagree with him on stars leaving play. I think it adds a risk to the game encouraging you to do better at the bowser minigame or whatever it is that's risking your stars.

I agree with you, and I think stars leaving play adds more fun by raising the stakes. I love that aspect because it makes the game less "hand holding" and easy.

Not sure if this counts as an "unpopular opinion" of sorts, but... While I don't necessarily _hate_ the Custom Dice Block from the newer games, am I the only one who considers it a somewhat lamer version of the Sluggish Shroom Orb (and similar objects like the Slowgo Candy from MP8 and the Slow Dice Block from MP9-10)? I don't know, I feel like it's a little more satisfying hitting the number you want with the right timing rather than just... rolling to the number you want and press A and that's it. Whoop-de-doo. (Also, side note, but am I the only one who noticed that the Custom Dice Block in Superstars and Jamboree has a very similar if not the exact same color scheme as the Slow Dice Block in Mario Party 9 and 10?)

I don't really get how you can say you like a board and give it a 4/10 at the same time. I can understand it could be frustrating but if the board is designed well around the concept giving risk vs reward it shouldn't be that big of a problem having stars taken away.

Personal favorite Mario party. I love the item system and the day and night system Board rankings 6. Snowflake lake(Good side events but gets repetitive after 30 turns) 5. Clockwork castle(Okay board but bowser takes way too long to move also you can get screwed easily if bowser is one space in front of you) 4. Castaway bay(Okay board with low scoring games but better than Mario’s rainbow castle) 3. Towering treetop(Really good starting board) 2. E gadd’s garage(Same as 3 but has really interesting happening spaces) 1. Faire square(You can buy up to 5 stars at once, enough said) Copy and pasted my comment from the original video

I wonder if DK’s stone statue from Mario Party DS is also that good as Faire square because both have the same Gimmick’s.
@Mr2Secs3 жыл бұрын
@@infernal-toad I wouldn't say they have the same level of quality. DKSS is a straight line board, which automatically makes it more repetitive. Not only that, but only has 1 junction (not even a good one, at that) and the barrel happening is annoying. The gimmicks is still cool, tho.

MP6 is definitely my favorite game in the franchise. I adore the Orb system and think it helps offer the most strategy in the entire series. The boards are all well designed and while the minigame selection doesn't quite reach the highs of 3, 4, and 5, it doesn't succumb to their lows, either.

Me personally I really like the Clockwork Castle board. It's fun chasing DK during the day and you always know when it's going to flip to night and Bowser so it creates a high risk - reward style of game. Do you burn your mushroom to catch up to DK or do you save it for fleeing Bowser?
@scantyer4 жыл бұрын
Clockwork tower is by far the best non standard mario party board. It's such a rat race to DK and then trying to get out the way so bowser doesn't reach you. The other boards are all pretty great too. MP6 is by far the best GC gamecube and can be argued as the best MP ever.

Mario Party 6 is my second-favorite game. Who can resist the day-night cycle of E. Gadd's Garage and Snowflake Lake? This is one time that E. Gadd is seen outside of Luigi's Mansion. I would play as Luigi for E. Gadd's Garage. I like Thirsty Gulch, the first Solo-Mode Board. And the Pink Boos steal at night.
@bvni4 жыл бұрын
the video description sums my thoughts up pretty well, and MP6 is very easily the best gamecube mario party. mainly because this entry included more improvements than needless downgrades, which is a miracle compared to the prior 2 entries. my only gripe with your take would be that I don't think snowflake lake is that good of a map. sure the gimmick is unique, and I'll forgive it over MP7's attempted regurgitation, but it lends itself to lousy board design (aka, glorified circles) and lousy gameplay. when the only way to obtain stars is through stealing, the game turns into a glorified cat and mouse game, more-so than it already is. it's a neat idea, but this gimmick shouldn't be the only means to obtain stars on a board. but like I said, I'll give Hudson a pass for attempting it the first time. now ranking MP6 is tough for me, as I agree it's easily one of the best in the series. with that said though, I wouldn't say it exceeds either MP2 or MP3 on a couple important merits. I think MP6 has much better boards over MP3, but I don't think the board play gets close to the same potential as in MP3. likewise, I think MP6 has better board play over MP2, but I don't think the boards on majority surpass the ones from MP2. it's a tough call, so I resort to ranking by which I think had the most potential, with MP3 being first due to having the best board play, and MP2 second due to having the best board design. that would put MP6 at third as the most well-rounded entry in the series so far. therefore, my ranking up to this point is 5

I’m a bit miffed when you say how amazing a map is, but only give it a 5 out of 10 for one instance of bowser taking a star. These videos a great still, but you really must not like stars being stolen, do you?

The funny thing is you can strategize around avoiding Bowser by making sure you had Mushrooms and such plus knowledge of the pipes - sure there are parts where you may be stuck on a linear path but your more likely to counter Bowser than not IMO.
@Mr2Secs3 жыл бұрын
I think the big mistake of this Board is that you're always losing something. Buy a Star for 20 coins, but if daytime ends and Bowser spawns close to you, then you kinda wasted those 20 Coins. If the Warp Pipe Orb was available, or Bowser only took Coins, or at least only took your Star if no Coins, then I think this Board would be way better.
@zjzr083 жыл бұрын
@@Mr2Secs I mean I guess to could make the Stars cheaper but at the same time I think that's where the difficulty of the board is, very sensitive strategy needed (although to a degree it could be said the same as MP1 albeit there's no items so there's very few control there).

Really interesting take saying Faire Square is a 9/10 when 75% of the map will never be used because there's absolutely no reason to not take the shortest loop possible (be it with or without the whomp). The only other orb/shop spaces on the board require doing a maximum size loop. The chance to gain extra stars individually is meaningless when someone can easily end up 10 stars ahead by turn 5, not to mention instead of trying to get 1-2 extra stars, you could just get back in the loop to try and get an extra 5 with the added bonus of more orb access... I'd argue it's one of the only 1/10 boards because of how its entire gimmick is biased towards making games as stale and repetitive as possible when players can tell what the final outcome will be extremely early and the optimal play it to make the same choice at the same intersections every time for the entire game. Even Waluigi's Island from MP3 wasn't this bad because Fight Club introduced huge variation and it wasn't literally the optimal play to stay there the entire game because unlike Faire Square it didn't constantly print unlimited stars and items.
@Mr2Secs3 жыл бұрын
If this is your opinion, then ok, I disagree but I'll respect. However, I'd like to point out some things from my own experience. There's no Faire Square game where players only stay in the inner circle. Not only does the Thwomp take 10 Coins to access it, but at least 1 player should be smart enough to put a Roadblock in there. About using other routes, sure, the Orb Hut takes too long to get there, but it's not the only reason you'd ever take that route, not to mention the top right Happening takes you back to the first space. What I mean by that, is that not everybody has 100 Coins at all times to buy 5 Stars, not to mention Nightime potential big prices. In fact, buying more than 2 Stars is only optimal if the price is 10. That's when the 2 Pass-on events in each side come in. You can either wager your Stars and get more -" free "- if you're skilled enough, or get more Coins by paying the Slot fee. The whole point of the board is clearly gambling, and I think it's used in a great way, even if slots are always bad in MP and the first Orb Shop is way too unused.

I had a MP6 game in Castaway Bay where we all handicapped 1 star for each player. However we hit the happening space so many times we ended up losing all the stars we had previously lmao. It'd be awesome if in that board, Bowser could put a bounty on the star he stole, say 40 coins. That way he would only steal it temporary
