Hal effect means it uses magnets to register movement, but more important, because magnets don't wear out like the old analogues, it doesn't get drift. The Dreamcast had Hal effect analogues, and they don't have drift, even after all these years.

Remember how many times the Switch sold out before? How hard it was to find any during the Covid years when everyone wanted to play Animal Crossing? It was impossible to find without ridiculous price hikes from scalpers. Seems like Nintendo just REALLY wants to make sure they have all their ducks in a row before advertising and generating more hype than they can supply. And it probably helps to have more time with prototypes to identify shortcomings like “Joy-Con drift” before they get widespread complaints. Anyway, I’m not in a rush. Nintendo was SO clear not to expect much and to be patient. “We’re not ready to talk about it” should mean something. DONT RUSH THEM. Let them make something GOOD before it causes us all problems. Leakers are not justified.

No, they just want to make sure they have something big to announce it with. A mario game seems like a given, pokemon is supposed to announce things in february and we haven't heard more from metroid prime 4. I'd actually be amazed if the announcement is not in this first quarter of 2025.

@@Blucham No true way to know. Mario would be made specifically for the switch 2 release and the last thing we heard about prime 4 was a reset on the development so if anything it be a teaser. The next big pokemon game tho was announced for 2025, no month. To me either that means "Late 2025 with a chance to delay to 2026" or it means "2025 but we can't disclose the month because the switch 2 hasn't been announced" Then again, I'm talking out of my ass in my experience being in this space for well, a lot. Metroid is a niche series so it's mostly a me thing. Mario and Pokemon tho do sound as good console sellers

By their posts around Christmas talking about people getting a switch as a present, it could also be them not making people less interested in the old console before the holidays

tbh there will be a reveal either at the end of this month or early next month (the usual time when a Nintendo Direct pops up). we know that they could have released the next console last year but postponed it in order to stock it up enough so it won't "disappear" too early from the shelves and for scalpers to take advantage of it. and they have promised a reveal trailer before the end of this fiscal year to their shareholders (which ends in March).

I don't know why people are blaming Nintendo for this. Usually, leaks happen unintentionally. If anything, this would probably make them reveal it sooner than they planned, but they obviously don't want to just reveal it out of the blue. They're still gonna make a Nintendo direct and properly showcase this thing, but instead of a March reveal, it will probably get something in February. 😅

He broke his old Switch because he had a shiny new one, and he had that bragging cocky-richboi energy. The ONLY 2 consoles I have bought on release day are the Nintendo Wii and Nintendo Switch. I am not a fanboi! I am a gamer, been an avid gamer since 1987 with arcade games/console games and on PC since 1983-ish. I have (and still DO own) consoles from the following brands, not just Nintendo - Several Sony PlayStation consoles (including the OG box one with yellow white and red on the back new back in the day), various other Nintendo consoles apart from the Wii and Switch such as the SNES and N64, Sega Dreamcast (waaaaaaay ahead of its time!!!!!!) Sega MasterSystem2, Namco, XB360 x 2 the best version after the RRoD was over - used and abused to hell and back (and a slim never opened in its box), XB1, PS2 x 3 fat boys, 2x silver 1x black. The disc drive motor died on one of the fatboy silver PS2's and the other older fatboy PS2 the power input died - I made a frankenPS2 by combining the working parts into making one working PS2! lol I know I am forgetting a few things - my brother owns a few rare arcade machines and 2 of them are the best restored versions on Earth! his 2 seater Daytona USA is restored with white LED lights, brand new steering motor feedback mechanisms using modern engineering vs the old stuff they used to use in there to do the job. Also had the one person in Australia who can fix motherboards of old arcade machines to fix a few capacitor and other issues on the sound board when it played up - the glitching music sounded cool AF, so I recorded some of it!!!! He also has the best restored Super Mario Bros pinball machine in the World! I won't go into the specifics unless someone asks me, but he replaced so many things it is literally like out of the box but better! Even the side decals are new and block colours not CNYK halftone crap!
