I said the same thing when I was younger. I’m now 34 and still feel the same way. I’m telling you, having money, freedom and a few nice toys is definitely the way to go. Most men who have kids and families are stuck at jobs they hate. you have the freedom to not have to work and if people start messing with you at work you can just quit and go somewhere else. This freedom is not worth the trade-off for kids or a worthless wife

I'm 57 and chose not to get married or have kids. 20 years ago, men used to say "what's wrong, you gay?" or "can't you find a woman?" After I got my vasectomy at 32 with no kids, the response that I heard really often and always made me laugh was - don't you want someone to carry on your name? How selfish of a reason to have kids is that? Like my name is so important it must live on. Plus, when I'm dead I don't think I'm gonna care too much what goes on.

Dont want kids because of early retirement. I rather have a better quality if life with no kids then have kids and live miserably and always worrying about working, paying bills, picking kids up from after school activities, plus college. Also if the child has autism, or a significant learning disability the child would not be worth the investment and only be a liability. The less liabilities the better and more money for me.

Spreading fear again? Let me set you on the moral path. If you kill your kids I have to share the same air, water, and food sources in a globe with 50 million abortions a year. I am tired of breathing in all the dead Posterity, drinking their remains in our waterways, and having hands that aborted a baby making my food! Look at the universe, and imagine the mastermind principle in play, expand through out the cosmos, and when life flourishes faster than the rate in which the universe expands then create a new universe to let life flourish endlessly. We need more minds to find a way out of this orbit around this Sun that will eventually kill all of life! Now, for the current moment in time what is the supreme law of the our land? The Constitution, which is designed to build a more perfect union. Can this union be more perfect if we the people are not securing the blessing to ourselves and our posterity? Perish the thought!

As a child from a broken home I can say everything you said about parents not really caring for their children is correct. Even when I was volunteering as a youth group leader the kids stories all started to have a similarity, bad parents. It's been over 11 years no contact with my biological mother because I couldn't handle one more day of her narcissism. When I read a statement on Facebook one day that said "all mothers are awesome, and should be respected or else you're being disrespectful" I left an honest reply (It was one of those days lol) We need more honesty Aaron, it may not sound pretty or politically correct but it creates change for the better so thank you for telling it like it is. The truth hurts but it also sets you free and if people enjoy running in blind circles in the land of smoke and mirrors well I suggest they become a politician, I hear the retirement plan is pretty good lol,

Most women my age are becoming more available outside bars and would initially announce they are looking to settle down and have a kid. Noticably available. The most common response i get after asking why they need a kid to settle down was to raise it to have it take care of her when she gets old. Like some sort of a goddamn retirement plan. If this is as universal and natural a reason can get when deciding to have a kid, then i want no part of this matrix.

This is a great and refreshing video. I'm 27 and married to my husband for 2 years (been together for 6 years). No plans for kids now or ever. :) Ever since I was in high school I became aware that I didn't want to have children. I wrestled with this because of society's view being "When are you having kids?" and if you don't then that must mean: you are a selfish person who will be lonely with no one to take care of you. Just to note that, it really drives me when people say these things: if they're afraid of being lonely or that they need someone to take care of them when they're old then maybe they should be producing better retirement plans vs possible retirement child. There's never a guarantee that your needs will be met by your children (nor should that be asked of them) and if those are your reasons for having children (having a care taker and to have company) then you shouldn't be having any. If you do want to have a child then you give them everything you can and the best of everything. It's about them now, many parts about you are put aside. You're doing this to have someone to share your love, watch them grow, share traditions and want the best for them. It's not right to expect anything in return. That is not the reason you brought this child into this world and this is a burden that shouldn't be expected of your child. I for one, do not like children. I find them annoying, time consuming, dirty, loud, expensive, rude, greedy, exhausting, and sure, they're kids! That's normal! What do you expect? I just know the pros do not outweigh the cons when it comes to me having a child. I don't want the responsibility or the commitment because cute babies are not babies for long (like puppies which I would much rather have) and your life is never the same. I like my life. I like to spend my money, use my time and make plans based on myself and my husband. Not a kid. It's frustrating when people seem shocked or judge or ask why? First, how rude of you to ask! What if I can't have children? Thanks a lot for pointing that out. Secondly, what's it matter to you? You gonna raise it? The backlash and the shock was hard to deal with but I'm working in a much bigger city where the majority of my coworkers seem to be more on my wave of thinking. *I'm choosing to be child free. *I'm more comfortable in our relationship admitting I'm happy to be a fur mom (I have 5 kitties and I'm slowly moving up to a dog). I'm very lucky to have a husband who feels the same way as well. *My parents are not the type to be hounding for grandchildren. They agree that not having them can lead to a life that can be just as fulfilling.

I was let down by women time & time again. i improved their lives immensley & didnt get anything back but whining & an empty wallet. I was very direct about my views on kids with them so much so i think i scared them into not getting knocked up without my permission & if i couldnt see them take the pill i didnt screw them. By the time i hit 35, it wasnt looking good with women as my standards had gone way up & their attributes had gone way down to the point where i didnt even date much. So, i did the responsible thing & got a vasectomy at age 36. No woman can steal my money,house,use me as a wage slave or use kids against me. I refuse to conside marriage & let them move in. I agree with you that there is a huge segment of the population that just want children like they want accessories. There are many that want children simply to "fit in" with their friends. This is even admitted by the people themselves: "I figured I wanted children as all my friends were getting married and having children". I was always told this as a child. I never quite understood why some bring children into the world only to leave them off at daycare for most of the time. You are right that when that is considered it is more honourable to *not* have children at all.

the sad truth is that most of the people having kids are people who should not be having kids...and they make horrible parents....9 out of 10 times...its the people who don't want kids who would make the best parents...because they realize just how serious it is. that being said there is nothing wrong with wanting a child in the future at the right time and right place but you got to be patient and you got to be very discerning because once you slip one past the goaliethere is no taking it back

Extremely stupid. Married couples who breed are the ideal establishment to raise future productive citizens in society, therefore alleviating the state's responsibility in taking care of said citizens. That is primarily why marriage has tax benefits. Otherwise the state wouldn't give a shit if you were married.

That's utter bullshit. I do agree that in many ways we're not being efficient with the resources we have, but we have not out populated the capacity of the earth. We only need to work on using resources more efficiently, which I believe we have in recent years. There will always be some form of work or paid opportunities. Even if bombs fell, the survivors would have needs and barter with each other. Forget the idea of being a victim of external circumstances. Equality and a comfortable life for all is not guaranteed, and the idea that anyone deserves it as a right is bullshit. Life is sacred. The major purpose of this world is to house us. Without us, it would practically be worthless. It is a God given plane of existence for us to grow, learn, and choose or reject Him. The greatest opportunity you can give a human spirit is to offer it the opportunity for life. Doesn't matter how crappy this world is. There have always been ups and downs, feasts and famine. You should never determine a child shouldn't be brought into the world because life is tough. I believe it is immoral to waste your ability to have offspring willfully, if it is for a selfish reason.

here's another thing though. your more selfless than others because if your child become self aware. self aware to the point where you realize existence is by chance, nothing special, and painful your sparring those who become like that. so keep doing what your doing mane.

Pfff Selfish not having kids? No, not selfish having kids because Muscular dystrophy runs in my family, and I do not want a male child to suffer like crazy, end up in a wheelchair by 13 years old and live to the age of 16 or 17 while suffering. I throw that in the person's face who calls me selfish. Thanks this is a good video.

Friggin amazing video right here, spot on. There was another awesome video by Stefan Molyneaux that addresses similar points, I wish I remembered which one! Basically, these parents (if there actually ARE two parents, since that's too much to ask nowadays) are running around, stressing, scrambling to make with 2 incomes what could be made with 1 income 30 years ago. They are coming home tired, sheep shepherding the kids from one thing to another, going to sleep and then doing it all again the next day. Haggard, tired and impoverished wrecks who spend 40+ hours a week paying OTHER PEOPLE to raise their kids for them. Who the hell wants that?
@mardigbidanian71193 жыл бұрын
I think what it comes down to is that some cannot afford kids . Because life is too expensive in Canada , there is too much competition for good jobs or any job for that matter . There is also too much competition for resources like real estate . So putting kids in situations where it's very clearly above our ability to properly take care of kids is perhaps is better option while for ourselves we can find other solutions to structure our lives.

@DoKtaTre9 жыл бұрын
Excuses, dude... Not just you, but everyone *with kids, too. See, they call childless people "selfish" because they do hate their jobs, but unlike before the kid(s) came, when their minds were filled with, "alright, as soon as I get *this bill paid down, I can look for a better job; I'll be alright for a few weeks, whatever it takes," those same minds say, "DAMN! This job sucks so much, but I *can't quit, cause [kid's name]" -- which *sounds admirable, so they do it. Conversely, they see you, who can't "get your act together," as only caring about you. I went to my parents' Christmas party yesterday...*three cousins came over with 3 sets of kids. Luckily, I was just able to say that I'd gotten married overseas...under a different name, so they didn't judge me too harshly... :)

+Sirena I agree. Also my reason would be mental health. I don't want my child experience what depression looks like or otherwise.
@indriddragon8 жыл бұрын
At least that is a noble selfless reason, yet do you wish your parents had simply refrained from having you? Have you enjoyed nothing of this life, or done nothing good, that you would deny the opportunity of life to another soul, assuming it would enjoy nothing of this life, or do nothing good?
@indriddragon8 жыл бұрын
Sirena, One of the worst reasons not to have children. You mention expense and consumption of time, and I assume you'd rather have those resources to yourself. Indeed, quite a selfish viewpoint. If you can't have children or don't have the resources to provide for children, that's one thing...but if you have the resources, or the ability to gain those resources, and you'd rather spend them on yourself than to be fruitful, for the benefit of the new soul, and society, I'd say you're being selfish. Imagine if everyone thought the way you do? The human species would die out.
@hudwen8 жыл бұрын
Joshua Johnston No, I enjoy my life. I just don't want a kid. I don't have the time for one, and I really don't have the mentality of being a mother; also including the money to rise a child. I take it that you might be a pro-life person. I could be wrong. So let me tell you something I'm happy without kids. Also your attempt to make me feel ashamed or perceiving me as a person who hates children failed miserably. You have a nice day sir.
@hudwen8 жыл бұрын
Joshua Johnston Sirena Hey, you know what? That's her right not to have kids. So who do you think you are bashing on her just because she doesn't want any kids. It's not your life, it's hers so back off. And now I'm starting to think that you're also very religious in a way. I could be wrong. And the final part of your comment: "Imagine if everyone thought the way you do? The human species would die out." That's okay because pretty much we fucked up as a species anyway. Killing each other just because of a persons skin color or what god they worship or the person they love. You sir need to look at yourself in the mirror and ask: "Do I really have the right to tell someone that they have to have children?" My answer to you. "You don't have the right."
@jonathandoe698 жыл бұрын
The selfishness arguments comes from the fact that your parents had to do the exact same thing with you. Not wanting to improve yourself enough to be able to support a kid can also be seen as stubborn and childish. I respect your view though and that of others who don't want to raise children.
@sexysadie29013 жыл бұрын

There is a lot of truth to what you say for about half the people out there who have children. However, it is only half the story. I don't begrudge you your right to not have them, and I never asked for, nor do I support, anyone else paying for the care of my children. A better argument would be that our children do not belong to us anymore, since the government has become powerful enough to assume control. They promised free stuff and everyone played the fiddle while Rome burned....

Don't get me wrong - I LIKE KIDS- but as a girl you HAVE to make THE CHOICE- and it can brand you FOR LIFE. Many people don't realize that as they're shredding away on MY PERSONAL CHOICE nor do they take into consideration, maybe I'm on a different path than they are on, maybe I have my OWN REASONS for MY CHOICE. I don't EAT babies for lunch, I chose to do my own thing... BIG DIFFERENCE. Also I ROCK as Auntie Wendi :)
