Hello! I enjoyed the second video too! So to clear up the confusion about how I "acquired" these shoes! Carlos Santos is available for retailers. The retailers can choose what model they want to make, leather, sole and last. Most of them out there choose to make the standard classic models, but I want to have some more special pairs in my shop. The oxford for example I thought "everyone has a nice classic almond/round oxford, so why not put it on a more sharp elegant last?" So I get to choose what I want to order :)

AE makes a very good shoe but, there are brands with much more stylish/beautiful shoes in the same category for that $400-$600 price.

i look at ae as a 100-150 dollar shoe. i have never paid more than that for ae.

Try the Beckett Simonon shoe. I bought a pair and paid $157.00 USC with a discount code given to me by them. Down fall is that it literals took me 3 months to the day to received them, but it was well worth the wait. I bought a split toe black in color, good year welted shoe. I am looking at that cap toe from Carlos Santos, looks sharp. Thanks for posting brother.

Great video! Man, I couldn’t agree more, I own several pair of AE and I love them , but the Carlos Santos (handgrade esp) is off the hook! Way, way more style and the last is far more dynamic and the finishing you can’t compare. BTW, are you shooting your video from the White House..lol! Love that rug man! Very nice!

Carlos Santos website sells the regular models and they are under $350-$375 ish . The Noble Shoe has CS hand grade shoes that have extra finishing and are a little nicer. These are around $420, but you can get 1st time purchase for 15% off or sometimes places like Justin Fitzpatrick (Shoe Snob) has discount coupon and this will bring them down to about $360. This is what I used and the gentleman on this channel did. If you want to get a nice CS derby, go check out Pelle Shoes, they have (or did couple days ago) CS derby’s in black & brown for 199.. I got a pair of these also in black and they are beautiful. Hope this helps!

Great review . . . Thank you! I am planning to buy a pair of Carlos Santos double monks and checked out the Noble Shoe store based on your recommendation in this video. I don't see many reviews about this company on Google and maybe that's because it's in Sweeden. I have a bit of trepidation buying from them and I did hear back from Kostas today as I had a question on sizing. He replied within a few hours and that was impressive. My question is: how was the buying experience and how long did it take to receive your shoes? Did you have any issues? Thanks, Chris (in Florida)

The reason I have more purchases than any other brand is because of the service, quality, and value of what The Noble Shoe offers. Kostas moved to Italy not too long ago and the service hasn't changed a bit. You can see reviews on the website. I don't know of any other vendors that carry them so that probably explains why there aren't other purchase reviews on the web. As far as shipping, I havent had anything new since April and I believe those took about a week I had the same concerns in the beginning but I buy with no reservations now. I don't have more only because I've slowed down on the shoes but I can assure that you will not be disappointed. Good luck to you Chris.

I'm either 10 or 10.5 US depending in the last. My Carlos Santos oxfords and sneakers are 10.5. The loafers are 10. You typically size down a half for loafers across all brands.

No. They are not handgrades and although they are sharp up front there is ugly bunching around the ankle on both of my sons' feet. Check out the new offerings from The Noble Shoe on the 389 Last for that same sharp look.

I was asking Kostas about the 389 last shoes and he said he never had nothing but the 401 and 445 last shoes. I been keywording 389 last and all I see is the diagram of the shoes and that it. And really the shoes you have for your son is more affordable

Wages in Portugal are less than they are in the States. So it’s going to be cheaper, even using the same high-quality materials. Also, although the Noble Shoe is a “distributor,” there is no storefront as far as I know - and AE has storefronts across the country, and there is value in that to me. So the argument to buy AE, if the materials and craftsmanship are equal (which is not clear to me yet), would be, support your local shoe company, especially since you can go in and talk to them and try them on, etc. I have my first pair of Carlos Santos boots (wearing them now), and my first pair of AE boots (wore them yesterday), and time will tell which holds up better over time. They both look fantastic, and they are both very comfortable. I don’t think that price alone should keep one from purchasing from AE - it should be a combination of high quality, price, and location - I will never buy China shoes. And I agree with you, AE does need to step up the QC. Ultimately, I am less concerned with price, and more concerned with quality.

Nice Shoes but without a 3E offering, I don't fit his product like many of the other shoemakers. Width D and E just don't fit my feet hence AE reigns supreme with me.

You may want to email Kostas to be sure. As I mentioned in the video he accidentally referenced the shoe being 3E. So the size may be only be available in certain styles. If I run across another brand that for certain offers the size I'll let you know. 👍

I agree 100%. I, just like everyone else started out with Allen Edmonds. I did this mainly because I didn’t know any better and there was a store in my city. At this point there are so many amazing small and direct to consumer brands, Meermin, Carlos Santos, TLB, Carmina, Beckett S.... the list goes on that are the same price but higher quality or far less with the same quality. It’s simple economics at this point. Sorry AE. Maybe it’s time to downsize the company?? Idk. I hate to see it happen but not sure if or why anyone would buy from AE in 2020.

Looks and details aren’t everything fit and comfort are the most important elements for me generally speaking. I can wear my AEs all day comfortably. Always great to branch out to other brands and styles for different situations and events. In terms of value and bang for your buck AE is hard to beat. It have never paid retail for AE. Lots of sales.

I've bought Carlos Santos and Carmina and the quality is far superior to AE. I've had to send back AE shoes due to noticeable defects at the same price point. One pair of shoes was so badly crafted on the inside it was unwearable. Not sure why, but I think AE is slipping in quality.

The best US shoes are from Cobbler Union by far. Fitzpatrick shoes ate considered Spanish shoes I think. A Edmonds are mediocre shoes. Period!

I would say J. Fitzpatrick. Cobbler Union shoes are also made in Spain. AEs are good shoes at sale prices only and great if you need a different width. I believe the JF line is the best "entry level" shoe you can buy. Soon I'm going to do a video on JF MTO program which I think will give you the best shoe at the $500 to $600 price.
