Because I know she lost for Funny Girl to Carol Channing, who won for Hello Dolly. It’s why Barbra campaigned so hard for the movie Hello Dolly, to ‘pay Carol back’ for taking ‘her’ Tony. Barbara was and is one of the great female voices of all time. There were others, but she was in that unique category of being instantly recognizable. There were a few, but not many. She did indeed do some acting, but she was a singer first. Singers seem to be more able to handle acting than actors being able to become singing stars. As singers, we become the song so to speak and that is a form of acting in itself where as there were and are many actors that simply don't have the voice to sing. But yes, she was truly a great singer.

Barbara has the second most gold and platinum albums all time, behind only Elvis. You really need to hear her early stuff first, she was a female vocalist, dare I say crooner, listen to The Way We We’re, People, Don’t Rain on my Parade….and she is considered by most to have the best set of white pipes ever ( with Linda Ronstadt being one of the others most mentioned)

The Guilty album is one of Barbra’s best. On this album, she does have two duets with your boy Barry. First the title song, “Guilty”, but second, and my favorite is “What kind of fool”. Both worth listening to.

The thing with Barbara wasn't the power or the range or the precision, it was here uncanny ability to display vulnerability and tenderness in her voice. It added such nuance and it's what made her a great actress as well.

No, you really can't overstate Barbra Streisand's voice above almost all other women on the planet. She is that remarkable. She started out on Broadway. Then she made a film of her biggest Broadway hit funny girl. Then she came and became an overnight sensation in film and has remained at the top of her craft ever since. She has a magnificent voice but she is a formidableActing talent as well!

Barbra is a legend. Her accolades include 10 Grammy Awards, 9 Golden Globes, 2 Academy Awards (one for Best Actress for "Funny Girl" and one for writing the love theme for the movie "A Star is Born" (the 1st remake)... She has directed movies and also composed other musical scores. She's really a musical genius. She's known for doing comedic movie roles as well as very serious ones. A true legend. Great reaction as always! Oh, she has a great duets with another amazing singer, Donna Summer, "Enough is Enough" and with Neil Diamond "You Don't Bring Me Flowers"... plus many other duets because singers want to duet with Barbra!
