For some reason, this case really gets me. Regardless of who or what killed her, she still died a horribly painful death, and the idea of her body floating all alone in the sea while small sharks feed off of her is really chilling. I hope she's resting in peace.

I think its a shark attack. People are misconstruing things. That leg was taken by a great white. Or ya know what, may be she drowned and died and then later the sharks came and fed on her. But that leg was definitely taken by a great white. Sometimes their bite isnt clean, they shake water violently to break meat apart and when they are shaking the sand comes up if its in shallow water. And may be thats why sand was in her body. This is a shark attack in shallow water. Nothing more.

Sociopaths who also do crime*, since having a DSM-5 cluster B personality disorder doesn't make you a criminal. People are not their diagnoses and a condition doesn't determine if you're a good or bad person. But yeah, I got to know someone who, after I learned the truth about him, met the criteria for psychopathy/sociopathy (e.g., glib, grandiose sense of self-worth, little to no affective or emotional empathy). He had a warrant out for his arrest but would go out of his way to talk to police, trying to chitchat with them and charm them. He also stole my debit card while I was sleeping to buy a tv and DVD player that he gave me as a "gift," because he would hang out at my place a lot and all I had to watch stuff on was a laptop. When I later found hundreds of dollars missing from my account, he kept his poker face as I called my bank, reported it missing, made follow-up calls, tried to figure out what could have happened.

I'm not saying it's impossible, but it is more possible that she was dropped in there by someone who killed her. And also if the lifeguard saw her swimming naked that's illegal so the lifeguard is either mistaken or did not report illegal activity.

None of the theories explain that PART OF HER LEG WAS MISSING AND THE BONE SHARPENED TO A POINT
@aurora54816 жыл бұрын
If she was pushed off a cliff, a rock could've possibly broken her leg the murderer could've then ripped off completely to make it look like a shark attack. The way the coroner described the bone made me think of it being pierced by a sharp, large rock, and then very human force pulling it back and forth until it snaps completely. Probably a bit gruesome for the creepy-ass poet, but I wouldn't put it above a violent stalker.
@damarislopez61336 жыл бұрын

I don't even think thats possible, the way a femur is structured its just hard for me imagine it. The femur is basically a cylinder made of hard bone containing a tortuous structure of spongy bone and bone marrow i dont see how it could have been sharpened to a point via a naturally occuring force, maybe they meant the ridges were really sharp like when you break glass which happens in high energy trauma so maybe she fell from the cliff broke her leg badly along with her neck and the sharks only finished the job by pulling on the almost severed member
@EastmanEditing6 жыл бұрын
She could've fallen from the cliff and broken her femur in half, and maybe the break from such force was "pointy." Then, a tide could've come and washed her body into the water where sharks began to eat her and were able to pull her leg off since it could've been a clean break and only skin keeping it attached. And maybe she wasn't dead quite yet from the fall, and regained consciousness as she was being eaten. (The "fall" could also have been her being slammed into the rocks from a rip current, where she also could've sustained the first femur break)

My Theory: The bartender guy was the stalker and just told people that he and her had a connection and that they slept together. All that BS was from his POV and we didn't hear her say it herself. He also got the surfing thing wrong which is weird. In the poem he says "Like the shark" which supposedly killed her. He's basically saying his intentions for her are that of a murderer. Plus no one knew what she was wearing underneath the trench coat could've been dress not a shirt.
@-caesarian-60783 жыл бұрын
Makes sense, I found it a little weird that he described himself having a fairly normal relationship with her, only hinting that she didn’t like him as much as he liked her, then he turned around and published the creepiest poem in the world, like he was pleased with her death. I think he just made up them being a couple completely. He probably met her as a bartender, became the stalker, maybe approached her a few times, got burned by her fear of him, then killed her in jealous rage and readily fed the police this shark attack story. That he seemed so casual about retelling the life of this women he supposedly was in a loving relationship with, and even compared himself to the shark, is super creepy.
@unai19073 жыл бұрын
And if you read his poem properly, the last sentence said, "chewed on her lips and TOOK OFF HER SHIRT" Damn. I bet 100% that guy is the stalker plus the MURDERER! And if im not wrong; before he kill her, he raped her. Creepy asf. This case should be re-open.

The way it's discribed makes it sound way more unnatural than it probably was. Fractures from blunt force due to falls/car accidents can produce that kind of break (and a severely fractured leg plus ocen creatures may explain what happened to her leg later). I'm assuming there's so much focus on it due to how different the presentation is than a bone broken by a Great White clamping down and biting.

My theory on the murder: Someone (could be Decker or the stalker, or somone else entirely) murdered Michelle on the beach by holding her face-down in the shallows (Explaining all the sand in her lungs and stomach), then stripped her naked and mutilated the body to look like a shark attack; discarding it in the ocean and leaving. Possibly they planted the purse or it was simply dropped when she was attacked. The bruises could have been made by someone also holding Michelle down and beating her, or possibly they accidentally or purposefully snapped her neck, maybe tackled her from behind which could explain the blunt-force bruises. The ones on her face could also be from her struggling to get up when being held down, though as there were no wounds listed that suggested anything else done to her while naked (Anyone who’s watched Criminal minds should know what I’m talking about) I can’t say if the motive was purely chance or for something not found out by the police or her acquaintances. Personally my money is on Decker because he was the one who made the “She liked to surf naked” claim that would have explained why her body was found in that condition and clear him of suspicion. I personally think he liked Michelle and either she rejected him or didn’t take their relationship (if they had any) to the point he wanted it fast enough, so possibly he murdered her. His creepy AF poem could also be seen as a confession that he killed her and did things to the body. It was never said when the events he described in his poem took place.

We know someone removed her clothes before she went into the water and planted her purse on the beach after her body was found. I think that same someone attacked her on land and then took her out on a boat to dispose of her, but despite being severely injured, she was still alive when she went into the water. The boat's propellor cut off her leg as her murderer left the scene, causing the damage to her femur. She subsequently died from a combination of blood loss and drowning, and sharks fed on her body after she died. Her murderer might have believed her body would be lost at sea, but after her body was discovered, planted her purse on the beach where it would be easily found to make it look more like she had chosen to go to the beach. They didn't plant her clothes, though, which makes me think they had already destroyed them or her clothes had some sort of evidence on them, such as the murderer's blood. Of course this is all speculation, but this is what I came up with to make all of the (publicly known) details fit.

Yea absolutely yours seems really fitting I also think it was that motorcycle cycle guy and had to check in on the autopsy reports to see if any evidence was pointing to him or maybe even after he dropped her in he didn't really know what happened like the leg removal or he was racked with guilt because it was some kind of violent "accident" and he had to clean it up by getting rid of her and leaving no loose ends

That would lead to more of a messy cut completely unlike a broken leg or a shark bite-- motorboat cuts are absolutely terrible. It would have also punctured the femoral artery (which rules out shark attack) and she would have instantly bled to death which would make it impossible for her to inhale the sand. I agree with the theory that the leg was broken from blunt trauma and a scavenger took the leg off.

But the chairman at Scripps said that if a shark took the leg, It could only have been a great white. However, great whites, as mentioned in the video, have a clean bite and the way the leg was taken indicates that it was not such. Thus, as they said, the actual shark attack is unlikely.

I’m sure someone has said this by now, but I wanna add my two cents. In a psychology class I took, we learned about how a person is more likely to die walking on the sidewalk of a mediumly busy street, then to die in a plane crash. But because plan crashes are more publicized people are more afraid of planes. It’s similar with sharks, a person is over 30 times more likely to be killed by a cow than a shark. But because a shark death is more gruesome and publicized, people fear sharks more than cows.
@setthecontrols925 жыл бұрын
you know, I'm watching this a third time and this particular case is interesting to me because I live and grew up in the area. sunset cliffs has a somewhat busy street that runs right along the cliffs. given that the neck injury is in line with a car accident, it occurred to me that maybe someone hit her with their car and tossed her over the cliffs into the ocean instead of dealing with a vehicular manslaughter charge. doesn't answer everything unfortunately (did they then cut her leg off? did they somehow hit her hard enough to take the leg off and it got eaten by sharks or somehow didn't wash up?) but I thought it might be worth sharing.

I’ve also heard that sharks are incredibly curious creatures. It’s not like they have hands, so, a lot like toddlers, when they’re curious, they usually bite it/put it in their mouths. But then he broke her neck for some reason, maybe drowning was taking too long. Then he cut off her leg and threw her in the water to make people think it was a shark attack. Baruch Ben-David not really, bears are actually good swimmers, so I think that the bear wins all
@bluesword78786 жыл бұрын
That's probably because people don't go in oceans as often as they do in forests or other places bears live.
@bluesword78786 жыл бұрын
Chihiro Lim, yes, I agree. But if we swam around in the sea often, there would be a lot of death by sharks regardless of whether their intentions were innocent or not. I think sharks are very interesting, gorgeous creatures and just trying to follow their instincts, but that's what bears do too. Sharks and bears don't primarily feed on humans, but can eat them because that's just how nature works.

My theory : The guy who was a stalker drowned her in the shore where she swallowed all that sand.He then cut off her leg, making it seem like a shark attack. Then he took off her clothes, making it seem like she was swimming naked,and he threw her into the water, where a current picked her up and accidentally slammed her into rocks where she broke her neck. Then the Blue Sharks had a little feast on her body. He also placed her purse on the shore to make it seem like she was swimming. Case. Closed
@estherhwang28837 жыл бұрын
J Vierra that doesn't really explain how her leg was gone and sharpened to a point tho
@Angela-tg7ki7 жыл бұрын
esther hwang J Vierra stated "he then cut off her leg, making it seem like a shark attack" That means the leg is gone and most likely implies that it's pointed too

Oh Idk this theory still doesn't add up for me lol
@KittenGoesGrr7 жыл бұрын
And it's possible that the leg was cut off and kept as some kind of trophy. In murders that a stalker has caused, there's almost always a memento of some sort that is taken from the victim. That way if they look at it they can relive the experience all over again

Kay Duff // bear would lose because of how small its mouth is and how rubbery the shark and hippos skin is so the claws of a bear wouldn't do enough. Hippos have no jaw so it could could take a bite out of a shark. And a shark could take out the hippos legs. It's all basically on how you see it

Deadliest do u know that the shark kills 6 people a year... And humans kills more than 2-5 million sharks
@LilacLoveMaze06135 жыл бұрын
Flamingo Shorts Yup, studies say humans kill 11,000 sharks an hour (on the conservative side)! How fucking mental is that?? Yet the moment we invade a sharks territory and someone dies all of a sudden people are calling for massive shark culls out of fear. It’s atrocious. So disturbing. I love sharks! I feel for everyone who has died because of a shark and for their families, but sharks aren’t these prolific man eaters people accuse them of being. Not at all! Humans are the monsters in this scenario.

while sharks are definitely not as dangerous to humans as many people think they are, i imagine we'd have a lot more humans getting killed by sharks if we owned millions of them worldwide and had them as an essential part of our food industry, if we were to herd them and all that stuff we do with cows the death toll would rise, that's the main reason why so many humans die bc of cows, as a species we're always interacting with them in big numbers. besides, if a shark mistakes a human surfer for a turtle, bites their leg, realizes "oh wait this is not a turtle, this tastes bad" and lets go, the damage is already pretty big because sharks just happen to usually be very strong and full of sharp teeth. don't get me wrong, i agree with the general message here 100%, this is just about how the cow vs shark statistic is really influenced by human behavior around those kinds of animals. but yeah, sharks dont usually even like to eat humans, those that do are usually from areas with a lot of human presence, so they're used to eating a lot of weird stuff, so in the end that's also humankind's fault. but other than those sharks, most of them will attack when they feel threatened or when they confuse us with another animal. if we were part of the ocean's food-chain, we wouldn't be able to go swim a little bit in the ocean, we'd be dead. most animals have a "you don't bother me, i don't bother you" kind of approach to humans tbh, the problem is that sometimes they feel threatened more easily than we do and sometimes they're big and strong, and sometimes they might also just confuse things or be desperate for food.
