I love how in the booze cruise Pam said she didn’t want to get married on a boat without her family, but all it took was the right guy to change that
@jerodast11 ай бұрын
wow, I never connected that! Clever :) On the other hand Pam's life was written as more grounded at that time so it made sense, whereas for this one they decided to make every one of her and Jim's family members a pain in the ass, plus all the office guests having their issues, for "comedy value", so wanting refuge away from all that makes a lot more sense.

It's kind of a twist on a _West Wing_ season 4 moment, where President Bartlet doesn't feel like the energy is quite right for the presidential election debate, so right before he walks onto the stage, the First Lady lovingly cuts his tie in half to give him a spark :)

By coincidence, the parents of Brian Baumgartner (who plays Kevin) were visiting Niagara Falls when the wedding was filmed. When the production team found this out, they were immediately recruited as extras and can be seen just behind Jim and Pam when turning in their tickets to board the boat.
@jerodast11 ай бұрын
There's no way this is COINCIDENCE right, surely they must've thought "oh you're working on location, well we wouldn't mind a trip to Niagara"? :) Anyway that is cute, always nice when the staff has fun with fam & friends.

It is incredibly difficult to pull off landmark moment episodes (I.e. A wedding between two major characters) without looking like you are trying too hard, while still matching the grandiose level of the moment with the quality of the episode, and not losing the constant thread that makes the show so adored to begin with. The Office tends to do it with aplomb.

It was one episode in 2010, or whenever it was because "hour-longs" were a big part the office historically, so many important (story-wise) classic episodes were hour-longs, & this was one....its only in the netflix/peacock era so many of these episodes got broken up into "part 1 and part 2" for whatever stupid , pointless reason .....literally every time youve watched this & theres been a "part 1 & part 2" of anything, it was an "hour-long".....the office never did that "to be continued (next week)" thing like an 80's sitcom (narrator: last week....on the office, lol)...the entire series was a *continuation* .....anyway 1 & 2's are just hour long episodes....then there were "super sized" episodes, 28 minutes instead of the standard 21 minutes, with less ads...."casino night" is an example of this, i know for an absolute fact...."dinner party" seems like it was, but idk, id have to check, maybe it just feels like it was because it was so epic...

It is Chris Brown 👍🏻
@jerodast11 ай бұрын
It cracked me up when Jimmy gave up muttering "eh it's not important." Actually...kind of relevant haha. The year of the episode was Chris Brown's worst year for public image, and the one ray of light in his media exposure this year was the viral wedding video which popped "Forever" back into the top 10 list. (Which _The Office_ then decided "yeah let's just do what they did.")

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the context of the "wedding dance", which, not trying to shit in anyone's milkshake (one of my best friends loved it, it's cool), but really soured me on the entire episode. I dunno maybe y'all already know and didn't think it was worth bringing up. Buuuuut...it was a STRAIGHT, I don't even want to say "homage" or "ripoff" because it was just not even trying to be anything different than the original, a STRAIGHT reproduction of a very viral video from a few months earlier. To me it was extremely disappointing that "the most important wedding of the series" was just lifted from someone else. There are many other sweet and/or funny elements in the episodes but that was the climax, and it made me go "wait...what? That's it? That's what they're doing?" (And that's not even getting into the fact the original had already gotten flack for featuring Chris Brown just months after beating the shit out of Rihanna, so why not promote him all the way to network television.)

Honestly, this might not be a popular take but Pam is kind of the worst I can't get over the free-ride that she gets because she's written to be the female protagonist.
