A partial reason why Aptonoth is so high up is because he is surprisingly overpowered. He is a good monstie for element experimentations, he is quite tanky, and he has an op kinship attack since it knocks the opposing monster down no matter what. Now obviously he is not the best monstie for element experimentation, offense, or defense, but he is probably one of the best beginner monsties in the game.

Evil Joe is pretty much the Japanese name of Deviljho. No idea why Kirin is Giraffe though. If I could only choose one Monstie I would go with Nergigante.

Kirin is probably called giraffe because ancient Chinese or Japanese (I don't remember which one) when they first settled on africa they believed giraffes to be real life kirins for in the mythology of the kirin it is to be said to be a horse with dragon like horns and scales; squint your your eyes alot and a giraffe kinda fits the description as they would mistake it's patterning for for scales and etc.

Kirin is just the japanese and chinese word for Giraffe. It has a double meaning as giraffe and the mythical beast, just like salamander has in our language, where it's a small lizard or a dragonlike being with a burning tail (on which, for example, the Charizard pokemon line is based).

Also, Khezu sounds too similar to the Japanese word "Ketsu" meaning "ass". I can totally understand why the monsters' names in Japanese are different from the international names. Then again, Capcom has been using different names for most of their IP and characters in Japan for a long time. Many other companies do it too. Like in the JP version of FFVI, Sabin is called Mash.

I honestly thought number one was gonna be Nergigante and 2nd was gonna be Velkhana. Nergi is in almost everyone's late game party, and for a good reason. He is viable for so many powerful builds, he has a good stat spread, good genes, and Nergigante is just more popular than Velkhana. (Even though Velkhana is my favorite flagship.)

Velkhana does seem pretty amazing, but unfortunately for her, I just ended up never using her because I love getting to fly about on Legiana so much! Getting to have my Legiana as one of my Monstie choices, even if she's not the statistically strongest, is amazing for me because I just love her design so much! I feel a little bad I'm missing out on the later game Ice choices, but I wouldn't swap my Lilith out for anything!

Basically how Google works is that it translates the kanjis and kanas or just the words one after the others, like, Khezu's japanese name is Furufuru, well, furufuru, is just " full full " but with japanese pronounciation, japanese likes to use english words in their languages, so yeah, best exemple i see ^^

I still prefer regular mizu over soulseer because it’s tech, and having one of each type is good for coop, where you don’t have virtually endless kinship like single player and you can predict monster moves unlike pvp. Plus he’s water, which makes him good for the hellblade event.

Technically solar cry spends 20 to give out 30 so it's not a good skill. It does that for me anyway so I dunno if it's a glitch or intentional.

@@flatulent_d9374 i build him as a status tool with kin cost down and soul kin up. Using him to inflict bleed an sleep When needed and just spamming my weapon skills while he sol crys my kinship up. My hunter build is crit with any weapon. Allowing my bow to status early even cheat the 9999 cap. My music hammer to always have buffs. My 2 handed sword to always delete small enemies or inflict more status. At lvl 90 monsties also start with 30kinship every battle except for the new dlc ones not sure why. I also don't use a helper. So yes solar cry is a broken skill if used correctly.

Google is just trying it's best to transcribe the Japanese names Glavenus - Dinobarudo Khezu - Furufuru Pukei Pukei - pukpuke Kirin - the Japanese name of Quilin (a dragon of Chinese mith), but also the word for giraffe

The translation for Kirin is surprisingly on point and the one for Deviljho isn't too far off. Kirin is both the name of a mythological creature and japanese/chinese for giraffe. Think of the word salamander. You have the real world creature and the mythological one. For Deviljho if I'm not mistaken japanese name translates to evil jaw.

See the problem with translating Monster names is the same as trying to translate Pokémon. Most of them are combinations and hybrids of Japanese words to form new words, such as Dinovaldo, but when forcibly translated via google it gets confused and result in Dino Baldo. It is also noteworthy that Kirin in some contexts can just mean giraffe. Most English monster names are rewritten in direct Romanized letters, like Na-Ja-Ra-La or Da-La-Ma-Dur instead of Ga-Ra-Raa-Ja-Ra or Da-Ra A-Ma-Dyu-Ra Some monsters are however switched up, like Astalos originally being Raizekusu

The Chinese word for Giraffe is Kirin, so that's why Kirin translates to Giraffe. Kirin was also the name of a Mythical creature upon which the Monster in Monster Hunter was based, but when Giraffes were introduced to the East, that's what they called them because they thought they were the actual Mythical creatures. So, Kirin translates directly to Giraffe from Chinese, hence the translated name.

Kulu cuz it has good coverage which is good for a monster you can get early in the story, just give it a speed attack and some good passives and you're set for just about the entirety of story mode as far as main battle monstie.

Mizu is in 4th because he was the best water monstie before soulseer so people always had him when they wanted a water monstie and because of that people got attached to him, after the disappointment of genes that soulseer had I just decided I would keep my mizu, Señor Soap.

Its not even a question for me, would have to go with silverwind N, just for the stealth open world ability, plus non elemental has soo many options. Favorite Pvp monstie is hellblade G. Best monstie design Oroshi Kirin. This pole does not seem accurate at all. I mean who likes regular zinogre better than thunderlord? Kirin at like 30th? Regular mizu ahead of soulseer? Surprised palamutes didnt make list. What about kushala? Teostra? Oroshi? Rajang?

Soulseer actually has some downs compared to normal mizu iirc. That's why normal mizu is ranked higher. Aptonoth has one, if not THE best kinship in the game. He can reliably kill Secret final final boss if you know his pattern.

Some people are just terrified of the experience of fighting some monsters that they don't even want them as their monsties. And some other are just people who just want to make joke monsties like myself who use my first aptonoth that I get until the end of the story. Also, why are you questioning rathalos placement in the rank? He may not be the best, but many veterans of monster hunter in Japan will likely have a rathalos in their party as a mark of respect for it.

Yes. As a MonHun veteran that started playing in 2nd gen (MHFU), I respect Rathalos a lot. He is basically our Pikachu that almost feels like a Charizard. I feel so attacked when new players hate on Rathalos and when some call him "basic dragon". I'm actually waiting for Dreadking Rathalos to make him my main Fire monstie. It doesn't feel right to not have a Rathalos in my game's party. I replaced Ratha with Teostra for the moment.
