Then change the title of the video. There. Problem solved. Cause this video was more like a recap of what DANIEL wrote concerning the invasion of Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece, Rome. By no means does this even come close to detailing the OT. Not even close! And the 12 sons of Jacob are NOT the 12 Tribes of Israel. Joseph and Levi did NOT get a tribal inheritance. Joseph was already a prince and Levi got the priesthood. They were replaced by Joseph's two sons - Ephraim and Manasseh. So it is 10 sons of Jacob and 2 grandsons of Jacob who make up the "12 Tribes of Israel". Also, Joshua did NOT lead Israel "back" to the Promised Land. They were never there to begin with, so they weren't going "back." Funny. Not even at the 3 minute mark and errors... Nice … for children, or the newest of converts. Certainly not for the spiritually mature. Milk is for milk drinkers. Meat if for those beyond the years of spiritual/Biblical immaturity. Freedom from oppression well... "Jews out of Palestine" is, in my opinion, over generalizing, especially that there were already Jews in Palestine (and the middle East in general by the way) before the occupation . Hating Israel as in the occupying state is one thing (which I understand because of obvious reasons) ...but overgeneralizing to extend it to a whole religion is problematic. Even though the occupation used religion to justify their cruel doings, it's clear that it's a front. The occupying forces actually torture Jews who are against joining their army and things like drinking alcohol and working Saturdays which according to them is against the religion that the occupation claims is the reason why they have the right to do what they do.

Please don’t take my comments as “criticism”. I’ve been studying the Bible for over a half century and if I were to attempt to do an overview of the Hebrew Bible in 8 minutes, I’d need to spend at least a couple of weeks reviewing what I’ve already learned. Even then, I probably couldn’t do a better job. One of the promises to Abraham was that he would be the father of many nations. (Genesis 17:5) Given that the land between the Gulf of Suez and the Gulf of Aqaba has been called the “Sinai peninsula” for many hundreds of years and that there is a mountain there that has been called “Sinai” for a similarly long time, many people have failed to consider the biblical evidence (Galatians 4:25) that the location of the giving of the law was in Arabia (i.e. between the Red Sea and the Persian Gulf). Many people don’t know that there is a mountain there that, as of a few decades ago, was referred to by local Bedouins as “Moses’ Mountain”. (Not critical to understanding the message of the Bible but if the Israelites were camped in Arabia at the time of the giving of the law, it lends credence to the biblical narrative that the Red Sea drowned the Egyptian army. I’ll try to find some related evidence if anyone is interested.) Ruth wasn’t Jewish. At least she wasn't a descendent of Judah. But, given that Israelites were not allowed to marry non-Israelites, Ruth, who was born a Moabites, became an Israelite by the decision she stated in Ruth 1: 176 & 17, “Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God: Where thou diest, I will die, and there will I be buried: the LORD do so to me, and more also, if ought but death part thee and me.” Nickodemus seems to have been acquainted with the doctrine that people who weren’t born from Hebrew lineage had to be born again, as was Ruth, in order to be Israelites. What he hadbn’t considered before his famous night visit with Jesus was that even people who were born of Hebrew lineage needed to be born again in order to be part of true Israel.* One of the things that I failed to understand until after studying the Bible for at least a couple of decades is the “division of the kingdom” after the reign of Solomon. An understanding of the subject as presented in this video could help a lot of people avoid some of the misconceptions that exist today about the use of the words, “Israel” and “Judah”. Many people fail to realize that, “Israel” is the new name the given to Abraham’s grandson, Jacob (Genesis 32) and that the word, “Jew”, is derived from the name of Abraham’s great-grandson, Judah. Thus, for example, Moses was an “Israelite” in the sense of being descended from Israel (Jacob) but was of the tribe of Levi and thus not a “Jew” in the sense of being physically descended from Judah. (I’m not sure that the Babylonian kingdom deported ALL of the Jews from the southern kingdom of Judah to Babylon but maybe that detail isn’t very important.) Ever since about the middle of the twentieth century, most Christians (in the U.S. at least), if they have “studied” Bible prophecy at all have only studied what futurist commentators have written about it. Futurism and the “gap” theory to explain the prophecy of Daniel 8 & 9 was virtually unknown among protestants in the United States before the twentieth century, however. The date, 538 BC mentioned in this video (“from the going forth of the command to restore and build Jerusalem”) was important to Bible students before the twentieth century because most of them (in the U.S. at least) used the older historicist method of Bible interpretation as the starting point for the 70 weeks prophecy. It is also worth noting that at least some of the “restoration” prophecies can be understood as having been fulfilled in the days of Zerubbabel Ezra and Nehemiah. One final note about this excellent overview of the Hebrew Bible: For old codgers like myself, I wouldn't have been able to follow this rapid-fire presentation if I wasn't already acquainted with biblical history. *And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven. But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: Matthew 8:11 & 12 My kingdom is not of this world. John 18:36 For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith. Romans 4:13 So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham. Galatians 3:9 And if ye be Christ’s then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise. Galatians 3:29

SentByHim, You seem to be responding to the first paragraph of my post. I wonder, however whether you read the rest of my post and, if so, whether you are acquainted with the method of Bible interpretation based on the history and principles that most people don’t understand because they haven’t really even read--much less studied--the earlier parts of the Bible. Either way, have you considered the possibility that the promises made to Abraham, Isaac and Israel will be fulfilled to or through the people who are children of Abraham through faith? Hebrews can be part of true Israel by being born again. I hope and pray that as many of them as possible will study their Bibles (their Hebrew Bibles) so they will be able to understand how Jesus fulfilled many of the messianic prophecies at his first advent and, perhaps, also understand that his kingdom is not of this world.

Especially if you're to suggest darwinistic evolution to be "science" or "fact". You haven't done so yet, but I'm making a wager. Totally amazing that you could do this in 8 minutes and include so many of the essentials. I have only one major correction. The Assyrians did not deport all of the people of the Northern Kingdom (Israel), nor did the Babylonians deport all the people of the Southern Kingdom (Judah). They deported the elite, who were the custodians of the tradition. Those who stayed behind from the Northern Kingdom, capital Samaria, became the Samaritans, who had mixed both physically and religiously with others who came into the area. These became the despised Samaritans of the New Testament era. That is the only point on which you risk generating confusion.

The best comparison I could make is when I say something not fully supportive of Biden and I start getting personal insults that indicate that the person went through the trouble of going through my profile or I will get people trashing Trump as an attempt to insult me and vise versa. I will say this though. The athiest communities that I have interacted with are not really at all what I expected. Well, I'm an atheist and I agree but I don't agree with the chronology. According to the video, Genesis and Noah's ark happen, then Job. Any rational person, including many Biblical scholars will tell you that Job was written before any of the books of the Bible but that doesn't work with their narrative that Genesis and Noah's ark were actual historical events. That kind of thinking is dangerous.
@Bramble4518 жыл бұрын
@Paul TheSkeptic: I think you're looking at this from a different perspective than this video's intent. The purpose of the video isn't to critique or even analyse the OT, but just to present its contents very concisely. i.e. from what it says itself, not from what scholars say about it. It's true that the Bible doesn't actually specify where Job fits in the narrative and so he depends on scholars, but in order to present the OT _as it presents itself_, it's legitimate to analyse it from its own content, which apparently places him after The Flood and before Moses. _When_ it was written doesn't actually matter here. But "somewhere during this time is when scholars believe that the story of Job takes place. Now we aren't exactly sure about the timing..." In 8 minutes, he could hardly go into a critical analysis of why different scholars place Job in different time periods, let alone when the book was written!

+Ivor McNamara Hello, I have a few comments I would like to make on this if that is ok. I have been studying Christianity for the past 3 years as an agnostic. I have since found just how correct and accurate the Bible really is with science. 1. The only form of Evolution that has any scientific fact to it is micro evolution (minor feature change), However macro evolution (ape to human) does not have enough data to support its claims. 2. You are correct in that we have evidence of the Big Bang, but think about this if there was a Big Bang, it means there was a beginning of space and time, if that is true, there has to be a causal agent beyond space and time (God). Therefore, the bible described the Big Bang thousands of years ago "In the begging God created the heavens and the earth" 3. You are also correct about humans living on earth around 100,000 years ago. The Bible does not contradict this. I would like to ask how you believe that Adam and Eve are scientifically impossible?

… seeing things with mature eyes, all I see is just how UNLEARNED people who claim to be "Christian" are. This video was more like a recap of what DANIEL wrote concerning the invasion of Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece, Rome. They were never there to begin with, so they weren't going "back." Nice … for children, or the newest of converts. Certainly not for the spiritually mature. Milk is for milk drinkers. Meat if for those beyond the years of spiritual/Biblical immaturity. @@DonCornelius366 There is much to learn even for the most informed believer. All people are at different levels of their development whether they be Christian or otherwise. This video was not intended to go over every detail but provide an oversight for those that may not have a deep understanding of the chronology. With that said, you are correct about the 12 tribes and the inclusion of Ephraim and Manasseh to make up the remaining two. But you are incorrect about Joshua and the 'returning' back to the promise land. Please remember that during the famine in Joseph's time, they left the land of Canaan before going to Egypt. After many generations of being in Egypt, they eventually returned to Canaan which was then the 'promised land' that was occupied by different peoples at that time.

The Bible is the story of Yahweh's fulfilled plan of redemption given exclusively to ancient Israelites cursed with the Old Covenant Law of sin and death and pertains to no one alive today. Today's wannabe "christians" have been duped into believing a misappropriated redemptive narrative that appeared soon after AD 70 and it's been a circus of error ever since. It was first named Filistina by the Romans after the long gone Philistines, to hopefully erase the memory of the conquered Jews. After more that a few centuries, the name had warped into Palestine. In the 1960'sAD the arabs who lived in this region voted(!) to call themselves "Palestinians".

@Daniel Skomp learn history!! The roman empire ruled over the kingdom of Judah, which became provincia iudaea. So the indigenous jews rebelled against the colonization of their homeland! So you call them "troublesome". After the jews take control over judea and establish a new kingdom, the ronans came with their full power and destroyed it again, this time expelling most of the jewish population from the land and RENAME THE PROVINCE to Syria Palestine. Daniel please learn world history. Palestine was never a state/country or any other self governed entity. Even under the ottoman rule, they called it Syria or south syria, here is the list of provinces in the ottoman empire: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Administrative_divisions_of_the_Ottoman_Empire
@MadHatterGuy4 жыл бұрын
@Daniel Skomp The details will always stay the same - the Roman Empire RENAMED the kingdom of judah (which rebelled and was established when they already were a romen province - Provincia Iudaea) to Provincia Syria Palestina, the name of the historic enemy of the jews (plishtim). i'll explain it again in a way you may understand: 1. there was the Kingdom of Israel 2. it was split to "kingdom of Israel" and "kingdom of Judah" 3. Israel was destroyed by Assyria and than by Babylon 4. Judah was destroyed by the persian empire 5. greeks and romans rulled the lands as Provincia Iudaea. 6. Jews rebelled and established the Kingdom of Judea. 7. Rome destroyed Judea and remaned it Provincia Syria Palestina. 8. the ottomans were the last muslim empire that came, and even they named it only "province of Syria". 9. the British came and called it "the mandate of palestine" - which is still just a kind of a province. NEVER in history was there a state or country or kingdom called paliestine! (the speling is intentional) (and the ancient Plishtim, were mostly greek ppl who invaded the shores of the kingdom of Israrel). Here is some more detail you are missing: the british mandate was partitioned twice!! first in 1922 - that is when Transjordan was created (now just Jordan). the second partition was in 1947 (not 1949!). since the reestablishment of Israel in 1948, there were muslim arabs citizens - in the parlament, army, police and more. and do not try to use the holocaust! ther is only one Holocaust and it is the Jewish Holocaust in Europe! if you are trying to say genocide than you are still wrong! just look at the numbers and population of paliestinians through the years - in 1948 there were 1.2million muslim arabs in the land, now they are about 7 million total! so what are you saying? what Holocaust? what genocide? what Paliestine? do you know what the name palestine even mean? it comes from the hebrew work PaLaSh, it means invade! for the "greek type sea people" who came and invade the shoers of ancient Israel. so they are rightfully and deservedly named "the invaders" Lastl, Daniel - you are bringing disgrace to your own name, Daniel was a very smart jewish prophet in Babylon. the meaning of the name is "god is my judge", so i hope he will judge you with mercy! please educate yourself. if you are still reading this, than there is still hope for you.
@MadHatterGuy4 жыл бұрын
@Daniel Skomp did I deny Christian history? No! Only the paliestinian - the arabs who call themselves "Paliestinians" today, started it only in 1964, almost 20 years after 1947 and under Jordanian rule. Please search the "Palestinian post" - it was a jewish newspaper that is now the Jerusalem Post. Search the Palestinian football team from 1939 - it was jewish (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mandatory_Palestine_national_football_team). So you claim to be a holocaust denier? Well, that might bring an end to reason, in this conversation. And you clearly did not read the whole comment above, because from number 6 to 9 there is 2000 years of history, from the last jewish kingdom of Judea to the British mandate of palestine.
@MadHatterGuy4 жыл бұрын
@ you are so mal informed, i hope to try and help you - 1. you are right, many lands have several names throughout history, this area was called: Canaan, the Lavant, and before it was RENAMED by the colonial Roman Empire as Provincia Syria Palestina, it was the KINGDOM of JUDEA and before that it was the KINGDOMS OF ISRAEL & YEHUDA - the homeland of the jewish people!! 2. "...nobody had heard before.."? are you kidding? the name ISRAEL have been found in Egyption hiroglyphs, Syria is ancient as well, it was known as Assyria, and the city Gaza is mentioned in the bible!!! 3. my father was born in 1946 in the brithish mandate for Palestine, he has a Palestinian ID, as many other jews who lived under the british rule. BTW: the Palestinian post and soccer team from 1939 were Jewish organisations! the arabs called themselves syrians or egyptions, they felt insolted if you where to call them palestinians back in 1939 untill 1964, when the PLO was founded in Jordan. 4. No, the modern state of Israel was re-established in 1948, and there are lots and many archiological findings in the region that support the ancient jewish sovereignty on this land. 5. what athnic cleansing? it was war! 5 arab armies trying to end and destroy little Israel - Israel won! deal with it! 20% of Israel is arab, they serve in the army since 1948!!! they are represented in the parlament!! (the third largestr party today) the palestinian population only grew since 1948 from 1.2 million to about 7 million. 6. jews have been living in the land non-stop for more than 2000 years, in the 4 holy cities of Jerusalem, Tiberias, Safed and Hebron!! the arab population only grew tremendously only in the 1900's, after the fall of the ottoman empire. 7. "the rightfull owners"?? how do you determine that? under the ottoman rule, many jews bought the lands from their "rightfull" turkish owners, while allowing most the arab farmers to stay on the land. the land is the homeland of the jewish people, so they will always be their rightfull owners as the indigenous inhabitants. jews are from JUDEA!!! (not to hard to understand!) 8. Justice will come when the palestinians of today will learn to love their children more then they hate the jews! (as PM Golda Meir had said back in the 1970's). please please please, read more, learn more, research for yourself and do not fall to mainstream media! i hope for peace, i hope for the truth to be known and i hope that you, mr bottelspuller be happy in your life and be more educated in history of the world. (jews are from Judea, jews ruled this area twice before, as the Kingdoms of ISRAEL & YEHUDA and the later hasmonean KINGDOM of JUDEA, Palestine was never in all of history a state or sovereign entity of an arab\muslim people).

@ first, please try to write with more order, finished sentences and ideas. it is hard to follow all the "...." and the jumping lines. - it is not "my" knowledge, it is the world history and everyone's knowledge, if they only research it. and i am happy to know that you are interested in this region's history and more. (but why though? why the interest in this topic?) - never heard of "plan Dalet", where can i find it? what is your source? (please dont let it be something like... the protocol of zion, because this "source" was disregarded as an evil propaganda against the jewish people) - if claims of ancestry does not apply for Jews in Judea, than it should not apply to "Paliestinians" in palestine. if claims of historic archiological proof of jewish kings on gold coins does not apply, than why should greek or persian archeology apply to them? if bills of purchase as the jews bought the land does not apply, than why should any purches be valid? if winning a war does not apply as ownership of land, why should the arab world keep the land it conquered under the khaliphates? just choose one way of owning a land, and the jews will have that way! this is the homeland and a big important part of the jewish identity. - jews and arabs still live good together, have you visited Haifa? or Hadera? or Israel as a whole? arabs are doctors here, parlaments members of the Keneset, supreme judges, police officers, teachers and so on... as i said, peace is possible, just look at the arab population in israel, 20% and more of the country, successfull and much better of in Israel than in "palestine" or any other arab-run state for that matter. - the consensus in Israel is the persuit for peace, unlike in "palestine" where the charter of Hamas called for the death of jews all over the world. - so if nationalism is so bad, why should there be a "palestinian" nationalism? or franch\Italian\egyption...? - you should read all of the bible before writting claims like that - the israelites who conquered the Promised land, had mercy on several groups of peoples, like the people of Giv'on or the Midians and others who joind the new kingdom of Israel.(the only nation god ordered israel to annihilate were the desert people of Amalek) - the word philistine came from Palestine! palestine came from the name "PLISHTIM" or "Pleshet" which means in hebrew "invaders", as you agree that they were an invading sea people from greek colture. they say now "philistine" or "falastin" because there is no hard "P" sound in arabic! (another example of this linguistic phenomenon is in the name of the city Shekhem, in english it is now Nablus, because the greeks or romans who conquered it, renamed it Neopolis (new city), and again, no P in arabic so it changed into Nabolis...nablis - Nablus. (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shechem) - your great love and interest for the region just might blind you from the truth, please keep searching, and find out the truth. as a man of science you should be skeptical of what you think you know. again, the situation now is that there are 2 peoples living in this land, who were born here, grew up here and live here. the question is how we move on? because there is no doubt that the kingdoms of Israel, Yehuda and Judea existed, so if we play the "who was here first?" judaism will win. there is no doubt that Israel is the stronger coutry, so if we play the game of "who was winning wars?" Israel will win again, and there is no doubt that Israel is a free and advanced democracy in a sea of arab tyranny and terror, so even if we play the game of logic and moral values, Israel wins big time.
