I legit didnt realize Javier was the same guy as the Javier in the first RDR. They look, talk, dress and act completely different. Javier sees mild mannered in RDR2 and to me he is much like Charles. Javier never really cared about John more than that. There's that cutscene where he drinks with John and it somehow feels like Javier is entertained by John's depressed drunkenness and actually entertains his drinking habit quite a lot. Not surprising given how everyone seems to despise John for being the favorite and Javier is an arrogant sob who probably feels better about himself by bringing John down. John later in life probably realizes how two-faced Javier was with him. Just an analysis. Also at the real end, Javier shows that what mattered to him when it came to Dutch was blind loyalty, he probably sees John siding with Arthur challenging Dutch as a huge betrayal.

There was another youtuber who mentioned that in rd2 you can read Dutch’s book that if someone who have hurt many people and the only justified death is to fall from a cliff by a hard death. I think that’s why Dutch fell from the mountain since he thought he deserves it since he hurt a lot of people and let them stray away with his plans when he actually didn’t have a plan. He did it for the money as well as for the thrill since it’s his nature like he mentioned.

It’s crazy how much work and detail rockstar puts into even the smallest little side story arcs or items etc. For example; in RDR2, Dutch states that he’s finding out how easily manipulated the natives in the area are, then in RDR1 most of his new gang are native.
