It's really not. Each state is given a certain amount of electoral votes. The more you have, usually means the more population you have. However, the founding fathers realized that if they didnt give equal power to the other states. Then places like California, New York florida and Texas can control the country with their power. It prevents the power of the many overriding the rights of minorities. Him saying its outdated is wrong. We are a republic not a full democracy.

So while I understand why people want just to have the popular vote I also understand the reason why the electoral college still exists. The entire purpose of it is so that the large densely populated cities don’t make decisions for the entire country. It’s the same reason why each state has a certain number of representatives in Congress based on population, it actually directly correlates to the number of representatives to congress plus 2 for the senate in each state. The only thing I don’t necessarily like about the electoral college is that most states seem to take part in a “winner take all” method. So for example if one candidate narrowly beats out the other in a state’s popular vote instead of splitting the electoral votes in correlation to the result they winning candidate takes the ENTIRE state. Imagine how different the outcomes of certain elections might have been.

Great video! It took lots of pestering, but I finally got my 18 year old brother to register to vote. I told him I don't care how you register, you just need to make sure your voice is heard...so register and plan to vote in November!! It's critical that we make sure our younger generation realizes the privilege of voting and ensuring your voice is heard. I wasn't overly thrilled with any of the candidates, but I have gone into this election knowing that anyone other than the current administration is who I would be voting for. #BidenHarris2020

I love that I am not an anomaly amongst Kyle’s viewers when I see others resenting the notion that your sexual orientation dictates any other facet of who you are. I’d rather be called an idiot than to have someone enforce the idea that my political stance is antithetical to my sexual orientation/gender/ethnicity! I am not implying that Kyle intended for this, but it is the presumption he made of LGBTQ+ voters’ political stance in this video that is problematic. In many other instances I see the LGBTQ+ “community” resisting any detected effort to silence their voices and express their individuality from whomever is considered to be in opposition to the “community”. And yet, in politics it is commonplace for the LGBTQ+ “community” to gleefully identify as a collective mind. Why?? Register to vote if you are eligible and make your voice heard. Can someone help me understand the portion about 137 million people voting but there be 330 million people in our country? Roughly 43 percent of eligible voters didn't bother filling out a ballot in 2016. That comes to about 100 million people who didn't vote who could've. So it should say 237 million (not 330 million)

Hey, I've been looking for answers. I'm a single dad and raised my son on my own. He's about to be 17 and recently felt comfortable enough to tell me he is gay. Sometimes I see he struggles with that and feels like he has to hide that fact when he's around extended family. I've told him I'm 100% supportive of him and all I care about is him being happy and with someone who makes him happy. I know he believes that too. I'll say this as well, I'm a conservative but I also believe love is love and it's not ones place to judge people on their race, sexual orientation or other factors. Can anyone give me any ideas on how to get him to where he is comfortable being himself? It breaks my heart that he feels like he needs to hide it from certain people. Any ideas of cool places to take him or road trips that would have places to kind of bring him out of his shell. He'll be going off to college soon and I want him to be comfortable with who he is when he goes to college. I also understand their are evil people out there who target LGBTQ people. Is he possibly trying to hide the fact that he is gay on public because he doesn't want to draw attention to himself and be attacked? His mother has never been involved with him, so I'm navigating these waters on my own and learning as I go. It's just really important to me that he is happy and knows he has my unwavering support. I'll take any advice I can get. Thanks

Thank you Kyle, for your informative video with specific data showing how individual votes can have an impact. However, let us be clear. While there may have been, choose the number, 200K LGBTQ+ voters who did not vote, and the election may have gone in a different direction with the added votes, the presumption you made is that enough of those voters would have voted for Clinton to change the outcome. Consider this. There are those disadvantaged individuals who repeatedly vote Republican despite the fact Democrats are often the party that offers better social support to those in need. Likewise, there are LGBTQ+ voters who do not vote in their best interest and, instead, seem to vote for representation that would seek out methods to deny and limit rights that should be afforded the LGBTQ+ community. Not SPECIAL rights, but simple equality and equity. Even now there are politicians running on platforms that would seek to challenge and overturn the Supreme Court's decision on marriage equality--and there are LGBTQ+ individuals supporting those politicians. So, again, I applaud your information. I just want us to review these data points with the lens of reality--and not what we would really like to believe would happen. We must engage to get to the future we envision--for us, for our friends and family, for our community, and for this nation.

Issues with this. This is assuming that all LGBT voters will vote blue. And if the reds hear that more blue voters are voting they will work on attracting more red voters. And I have to say, playing it down is what any world leader did/would do. No thank you. I’m not a moderate, nor a liberal. Vote for a socialist candidate: Gloria La Riva 2020. I don’t support a two-party system that prioritizes profits over people. As long as capitalism, imperialism, oligarchy, and plutocracy exist in American government, we will never see living wages for all, free health care, free education, fighting climate change, the end of police brutality, and other social and economic issues that need REAL and EFFECTIVE SOLUTIONS. And no, I don’t mean socialism as in Soviet Russia or China. That’s a tired and over used Soviet-era counter argument. People get so scared or think it’s ridiculous to consider a socialist system. The capitalists want you think that voting is effective and the only solution. They want you to think there is no alternative other than capitalism. The LGBTQ+ community should read Karl Marx, Vladimir Lenin, Richard Wolf, etc. to get a full understanding of what political direction we should be going towards. Get involved in political action and organize. Educate yourselves and be critical of the establishment and the mainstream media. Read only independent, non-profit news sources. Corporations, interest groups, and other big donors influence politicians and the news media. Dems and republicans don’t really care about you. They’re the wealthy elite who continue to enrich themselves while the poor get poorer and the middle class eventually will not exist. Abolish the police, abolish capitalism!
