Thank you so much for this video. Would love to have a chat/live with you if ever interested. Even before watching this video I have been trying to be comforting when I catch myself thinking or saying negative things about me, already it has made a huge difference in how I feel or even view myself. I also started to act accordingly to this self compassion and the results were doing things for myself that show me that I care about myself. Not there yet by any means, but its been better than before and I have made more genuine connections with others while naturally distancing myself from those who don't feel right.

I'm not really sure how to get through some of these points. I don't dismiss them completely think they are useless tools, they've clearly been life changing for some people, and that's awesome! When I hear self-compassion, the path that lights up in my head is self-enabling and abandoning care and compassion for other people in favor of myself. I think of never caring what others think ti the point of dismissing vital and constructive feedback. It registers as irresponsible and a gateway to not being a good neighbor, family member, friend, etc. I know it's not helpful in the end. Even if the external result is less mental and physical anguish, I wind up hating myself more for easing up, which I think is a precipitant of the chance I'll inadvertently hurt someone. I overwork on myself to keep from doing that and have since I was 11 (long story.) One of my life's missions is not to turn out like my abuser. I tried to read that book by Kristin Neff years ago and was really devastated by the quantitative representation of my self-hatred. I've got a better grasp on the concept now, I may try again soon.
