I really don’t see a problem with the one ring. It’s a balanced card and there are plenty of counter spells for it. If we get rid of the one ring, control as an archetype in modern is not competitive viable.

I think the big problem overall is the price of the one ring. Control for sure gets worse without the ring but plenty of other decks are just playing it because its so good. In either case i truly dont know what to do with it. Either find a way to reprint it or just have it not exist

@Bluestomiv probably. For what its worth im all for getting rid of the reserve list. Honestly any card should be able to get a reprint if deemed necessary.

If they reprint it the price will go down. Then collectors who have several copies of the card will be unhappy. So it’s a 2 way street. Someone will be unhappy and someone will be happy. If it’s not going to make everyone happy then why change it imo. I don’t mind them reprinting cards for standard usage. But to lower the price of a card by reprinting it is something I hope they avoid doing.

But why? I can understand special versions and serialized cards being expensive but just the regular version of a card being nearly 400 dollars for a play set is crazy. If they can reprint the ring i think that would be the best coarse of action. But if they cant and it continues to be a staple of the format then there is a good chance itll be inaccessible to most of the players who dont currently own a playset of the one ring

IMO - restriction is unviable outside of Vintage. I personally don't feel it's bannable on power level - just tough that it's so costly in paper.

Modern is an expensive format, reprints are fine but restricting it would suck for people that have already invested in 4 copies for the upcoming RCQ season.

Either situation sucks. That said there is a potential problem reprinting the ring solely on the fact that its not a for sure thing they can reprint it.
