Clip transients (drums-perc) limit tonal peaks (bass vocals etc)

Thanks for this vid! I've owned Saturate for a while but ended up picking up Elevate at a loyalty discount of 50 bucks due to your recomendation. I love the transient emphasis section!

Thx so much for your tip to Baphometrix. Such a great source of inspiration for the mixing strategy I was searching for. Not that I am seeking for ultra loud masters but a way to get more control over the dynamics of my mixes.

I'm excited, actually, about the new updates to the Limiter and Saturator in Live 12.1 - they made some big improvements

The loudness war in EDM could be ended instantly by Pioneer putting LUFS meters instead of peak meters on their mixers, and putting an arrow where you should be sitting on the meter. Half the problem is you can't play more dynamic music, because chances are the clown DJ playing before you was already redlining the mixer with -4 LUFS bangers and the sound person has already rolled their eyes and turned the system down to compensate. There's no headroom for bigger peaks in this scenario

Also demoing Kraftur. I have a few clippers including Newfangled Saturate, Kclip3, Standard Clip and even though the GUI of Kraftur (I also love Gullfoss) is amazing, I don't like its sound as much as Kclip3. I already have too many clippers anyway.
@Zdrewe
@Zdrewe 5 күн бұрын
You can add huge amounts of loudness with Kraftur through saturation but as it comes down to it’s clipper, it’s a roulette - sometimes it works fine (like in this example) but I’ve been trying it on another track and it simply shaves off too much.

@@Zdrewe I could not get it to the same LUFS without distortion coming in earlier than where it did with KClip3 and generally couldn't get the same clarity...dunno if its the extra band in the multiband section of KClip3 and the cross overs being different because of it that basically it makes its possible to get ballpark settings and not exactly the same, but yeah...I am a SoundTheory fan and was about to just purchase Kraftur straight away, but then I tried the demo and that stopped me from buying it.

@nectariosm yeah, it’s been a couple of days since I filmed this video and like said before I’m not 100% convinced to get Kraftur as well. it still surprises me how good KClip and Saturate are for the price. And speaking of KClip, can we normalize using Germanium on every single track?

It had a good intention but your video is too confusing. There is too much information, plugins, technique, it’s a shame. I would like have something simple or perhaps clearer. I'm a little disappointed, this video is aimed at professionals and not simple producers like us. you talk about clipping, gain reduction, etc. we barely know what that means. We can obviously go elsewhere and find out more information then come back to your video but that would be no interest.

Thanks for your feedback since believe me or not, it’s really eye opening. I’m still learning you guys as my audience and how to present each topic. Based on what you said, expect the comprehensive guide about the basics of clipping 😉

@@Zdrewe Hey for what it's worth I'm an amateur producer and absolutely loved this video. Currently diving into the CTZ philosophy because of it. IMO it was easy to understand and clear. It required a little bit of prior knowledge sure but if your channel was made for only beginnners all the time many would lose interest. More advanced and/or niche topics are good to have IF you want to make them! Thanks for the video!
@Zdrewe
@Zdrewe 4 күн бұрын
Glad to hear that! CTZ definitely needs much more explanation than the 7-8 min video I made and like I said, there are way more advanced videos about this topic. It’s more like an introduction or a reminder for those who already know something about clipping. That being said I will definitely squeeze out more from it in a future ones 😅

it's an advanced technique used by some professionals...learn the basics and come back....baphometrixs videos are hours long and hard to comprehend for an adhs brain but it's totally worthy if you are into the science of loud music
