Considering the fact it is hard to find after market saddlebags for my Triumph Bonneville Speedmaster. After some deep market research I got the Viking Lamellar Large Leather Covered Hard Saddlebags for for their style and durability, this is the second pair of bags I bought from them. Also I have received numerous compliments on these bags. I love the locking mechanism and it matches my seat. Best feature, rode them in the rain and it does not leak at all! Best Bags for the price!

The mounting points he used are the two bolts that secure the chrome plate over the rear subframe/fender which take a T50 and T40 to remove. Both of those bolts are metric. The front lower bolt is an M10-1.25(length will vary with installation) and the rear upper bolt is an M8-1.25(length will vary with installation). Provided in the hardware kit are many bolts, washers, nuts and spacers. All of their bolts/nuts are M8-1.25. You can make it work with their hardware. You will simply have to use a washer and nut for the front lower bolt, while you can just thread in the rear upper bolt. Make sure to use washers where you can as this will noticeably increase the stability.

I have researched saddlebags quite a bit and I have always come back to Viking but I haven’t purchased yet. I just saw another KZbin video with Viking bags which were both black and white to match my 2022. Triumph Speedmaster like yours and those are the bags that I would really prefer and would buy, but I can’t find them on the Vikingbags site.

I an waiting on delivery of a 2022 Speedmaster, I will remove the rear seat snd install a fender mounted rack from Motone. Motone Voyager Rack. After all my searching I will buy a Viking product. Great pricing. I’m not a penny pincher by any means. I just don’t want to drop $700 or more on bags! If there isn’t a video handy, no worries. I will call over to Viking when the time comes. Beautiful bike man! struggling to decide on this or the T120 - i did want a cruiser style with forward controls as i rented a vulcan s 650 and enjoyed it. How does this cope around town ?

Would love to know how you actually installed these things ..no matter what position I put them in on my 2022 Truimph Speedmaster it looks like it's going to hit the seat and not open. Also the video instructions on vikingbags is useless as it shows a very easy installation on a harley with straight line fender bolts.

Definitely was not an easy installation. Mine have the new latch release lever and that makes it even harder to press against the fender bolts.

Nice review. I just bought a 2023 Speedmaster, and the Viking bags, specifically the hard bag that I am looking at seems to be small. Is that just the way that the British bikes are? All of my Harleys that I've had that were baggers, the bags seem to be taller and possibly wider as well. Do you have any suggestions because the ones I see on Viking website seem to be small in relation to the bike if you know what I'm getting at. Thank you

@@VikingBagsYT Thanks. That's the exact one that I was looking at. But if you look at the pictures on the website, and I scroll over to the picture of the bike with the bag on it, you can see a large portion of the rear wheel exposed which means it's a relatively small bag at 14" high, and 25" diagonal width. I just installed one of mine and it takes some imagination and patience. It was difficult. I had to grind a slight angle on the mounting bracket so it wouldn't pull on the locking mechanism .

did the handbags come with pre-drilled holes to where you only had to bolt them onto the bike or did you have to drill the holes/align both sides?

I was able to install them on mine. It’s better with two people for sure. One person holds the bag in the desired position while the other marks the bags with something highly visible like a paint pen. I used a tire marker from an auto parts store. Since I was alone, I used a piece of paper over the mounting points to make an impression template. Cut the holes out of the paper and place them over the bag; then, mark the bag.

Why are these Viking bags the only ones that fit the 2018-2022 models? They do not aesthetically fit this model bike. Are more stylish bags going to be updated with new mounting hardware that will fit the new mounting points on the newer model Speedmaster’s?

Hi James! So far we have not tested for new 2022 year model. We are only confirming this style(which comes in 3 finishes). Other bags with the same dimensions may fit, but then again we have no tested them yet. But these 3 are the confirmed ones. We will finish testing most bags within this year.

Buyer beware: I bought a pair of Viking bags for my 2022 Speedmaster and the hardware doesn't fully match the 2022 model it appears, the pair of front most bolts on the bike are not the same size as the rear ones (they are a bigger), so that the one shipped by Viking are too small. Not a deal breaker, but had to stop the installation, need to take a trip to the hardware store, see if I can find the correct ones.

The bags look as if they're too far forward and would obstruct the passengers ability to comfortably sit on the bike and reach the passenger pegs. Have you had any experience with a passenger on the bike with the bags

These hard bags are meant to be hard mounts so they cannot be easily removed. This keeps them from falling off while riding.
