This was a great guide, I really like guides that focus on theory with a few good tips and let me figure out how to implement it myself. I liked how you did the gameplan and loose stuff first and then went into more specific about combos and set ups afterwards. Also that you saved the most juice thing, the 5-way mix up, for last. the only critique I have is that the tempo doesn't have as smooth flow as it could have had since it's recorded in one sitting and not edited. But I asume you did this live on twitch and don't have the time both edit and stream. It was still pretty consistent for a "single shot" guide. Other than that, the slight "clickbait"-ish title made me asume the guide would weaker than it actually was. I've recommended the guide to a couple friends too as I think it's also good for basic MU knowledge and to be up to date for commentary.

It's always nice to see your guides. You explain it so well. Especially for someone like me who don't know much about traditional fighting games. Side note part 2. Today starts the day where I first played strive. I was playing the dojo for like 2 hours. And after that, I did a few matches online. It's fun long story short. Legitimate question, how do you put those special inputs so fast? I get that I just started, but damn I can't do them special inputs consistently. XD

can confirm, the thing i do to practice new inputs and specials is to go into lab, and literally just keep doing them over and over again, for pots hammergrab i set bot to jump from center and would reset after every success, with inputs displayed so if i messed up i could see if i misinput by over moving the stick, mispressed a button, or just didnt time it right, and would repeat it till i got it down consistently, after that it was doing things like trying to add it to basic launchers like pots uppercut, and would keep adding as i got more comfortable, strive was the first fighting game i really got into, and the lab they have is incredible, its def worth spending time in it even to mess around, cause even just trying to string together wacky moves and combos helps you learn inputs and potentially see new combos or gplay plans appear, Welcome to the game!

one thing to note is the brain is much better at picking up muscle memory over multiple days, instead of one long session. You'll often get situations where u practice one combo for hours and get it maybe once, then you come back the next day and u wonder why it feels much easier. Sleeping on it works well. I was like u, and by the end of my first week i had already improved a lot

This is my first fighting game experience and i am a miserable casual overall .I'll most likely never reach celestial,below it people do not really understand what they do in the game, as you say. Nevertheless i trying to gradually learn how to actually play, and your theory helping me immense to git gud man. Up from 5 to 6 few days ago, spent some time with training and had a wild session today. Broke through to 7 than 8, then drop back to 6, sweated like a pig in sahara and back to 7. My comprehension of what i do is still like 10% at best ,but i love the process.Appreciate your efforts. Never thought fightings can be so much fun.Visual gives me a lot of pleasure No RNG , pay to win bullshit, bad/good team etc, nothing. You are the one who do you game and the one who blame to throw it. Even connection do not fuck you up thanks to rollback. I am trying to do my best for the first time in a years.

Start with basic ones like c.S > 2S > 5H > 214K/236K. You can delay the gatlings to create frame traps to catch their mashing/jump. If they're being uber defensive you can stop the string early and dash in for a reset or a throw. Two other good strings are c.S > 5K > 214K which has big reward if it counter hits and c.S > 5P > 5K > 2D > 214K which is a bunch of natural frame traps. 214K technically ends your turn but you can 50/50 off it to keep your pressure going. If they challenge with a fast low you can backdash and rush back in. If they use a slow poke to catch the backdash you can 6P/623S to blow them up. Finally, good gio pressure will come down a lot to just looking at what they're doing against you. Punish what they do both during your pressure and what they do next.

@@christiancharron1283 5K has a lot of options to follow up with which means you can keep rotating options based on the situation. In neutral 5K > 6P/2D > 214K is a powerful frametrap, and if it hits you can follow up with a c.S that hits them on the ground, jump, instant air-dash, j.H and this is a safejump setup, so you get another turn at pressure. 5K is also only -2 on block, so you can dash into throw and it will be unreactable (note: don't dash cancel 5K as this makes the frame advantage worse). 5K > 236K/214S is never true but can catch people sleeping. If you ever land a Red RC during a combo you can follow it up with 5K > j.H > j.D > (land) 5K > 214K and this will break the wall from about midscreen. You need to jump cancel the first 5K, but it's really easy once you got it. Also you can do a small crouch block right before the first 5K to bait bursts. During pressure if you have 50 meter you can also gatling 5K into uncharged dust for an almost unreactable overhead and then immediately RC. If it hits you get a combo like the one above. If they block it you're safe and get to take another turn. Beyond that in neutral your main buttons will be 5H, 2K/2S, and 6P/623S. 5H is disjointed and good for whiff punishing slower buttons in neutral, like Nago 5H. On normal hit you can follow up with 214K for a knockdown but on counterhit you can follow up with 236K and get a full combo like 236K > 2S > 5H > 214K. 2K/2S are lows to mix up their blocking habits. 2K is basically identical to 5K and has all the same follow ups. 2S doesn't give much, just 2S > 5H > 214K but you still get a knockdown. Sometimes if I have meter I'll react if it connects and go for 2S > 5H > 632146H to break the wall. Finally 6P/623S are not only anti-airs, but also good for beating a lot of mid pokes that stuff out buttons like 5K, 5H, etc. 6P only really gets 214K as a follow up. 623S is a bit riskier without meter, but on counterhit you can get a full 5K combo, and on whiff/block RC to be safe. Hope this helps!
