To give ingriedients enough time to actually do their job is one of the lessons I’ve had to learn😅 with all the fake advertizement online, it’s easy to think something won’t work for you after two-three weeks, and then switch to different products/actives😗
@morgianasartre67092 жыл бұрын
I was expecting you to say two-three days, are there really any ingredients the efficacy of which you can't judge after 2-3 weeks (apart from sunscreen and retinoids)? 😅
@ElenKarin2 жыл бұрын
@@morgianasartre6709 Well, I’d say it depends on skintype/condition and how good results you’re expecting - but personally, it took well over a month before I was confident I could see a difference after I started using niacinamide and BHA’s

a habit of mine that is underrated imo is that i NEVER touch anything with my left hand after washing my hands besides my face and the immediate product. reasons why is 1. your products packaging are a lot dirtier than you’d think from dust falling on it and just existing in a bathroom. 2. its pointless to clean you hands to then immediately touch something dirty. 3. its my non dominant hand so i am taking my time applying products gently. is it a bit obsessive? yes. does it prevent potential breakouts? also yes
@calex1282 жыл бұрын
I wish more companies said which stage their items should be used. Obviously cleanser is cleanser, but good for first or second? Or morning? Serum or ampoule… morning or night, is one heavier and it’s obvious? With retinol? Or Alternating, or instead of? It can all be so confusing sometimes, and I’m generally afraid to try new things bc I don’t want to mess up the steps or destroy my barrier - but I won these in the IG contest, so I’ve got no excuse not to try them!

So, I have a question for you James, if you will please. Have you experienced a decreased potency effect of the products over time? So maybe it started really well with amazing results but eventually the skin is so used to it that you'd recommend increasing the potency level?
@cassthompson33862 жыл бұрын
It depends on the ingredient/active, and depends on what your skin concern is. Of course when you first introduce a new ingredient to your skin you are going to see and feel the difference, because you were starting from nothing. For example: if you start using a chemical exfoliant, of course, you are going to see results because you've never done it before, but over time you arent seeing the results you saw previously because Your skin Is "used to it". There is no need to increase potency because now you are just maintaining and regularly exfoliating. But, let's say tretinoin, you start at a very low concentration and slowly increase potency for increased results over time. Like I said, it all just depends on the ingredient and skin concern, whether you should slowly increase potency. :)

I am absolutely in love with the Youth To The People Retinal + Niacinamide Youth Serum. I did initially start with using it 1-2 times a week, then every other day, and so far no irritation or dryness. It does have both niacinamide and some ceramides in it, so that probably helps a ton with reducing irritation/dryness. I also use a combination of BHA’s/AHA’s (Moon Juice Acid Potion or Naturim’s BHA- these two are also amazing by the way) in between on days that I don’t use it, and so far my skin is loving it. It is a little on the pricey side though ($88 CAD), but I think it’s well worth it.
