I drank that at a party in 1994. I was a total lightweight at the time. I woke up on these stone steps that led up to the front door. It was February and I remember having to pull the rock salt out of my face. To this day, every time I shovel snow, I think of Zima.

I've never had a Zima, but I remember Edwin McCain holding one up on stage in 1995 at Wavefest and saying how much he loved it. As a really impressionable high school junior, this moment was pretty influential in pushing me toward almost exclusively bourbon and weed for several years.

In the early/mid 90s heydays of Zima, some friends and I would play pool on Wednesday nights at a not-quite-biker bar called the Red Garter. These were the days when the closest thing to craft beer you'd find was Guinness or Heineken, or maaaaaybe, Anchor Steam, but most people drank MGD. There were a lot of macho pool hall types that hung out at the Garter in those days. Our clan was kind of nerdy, but also pretty freaky looking. Our friend Remo was a pretty good pool player, and would always order a "Purple" which was a bottle of Zima with a shot of Chamord added. People would squint at his Purple and squint at Remo and challenge his table. Pretty frequently the game would end with Remo pulling some kind of crazy jump shot over the 8-ball and proclaiming his victory in something that sounded like the backmasking from a 70s rock recording. Eventually people just left us alone. Most of this story is true.

I went on a overnight houseboat trip in the 90’s with some “rad dudes”. Zima and “shark bites” (Gatorade and vodka, no sh*t). I remember the first Zima and shark bite, then it was morning. I had to hear “dude you were out of control!!” stories while picking boat carpet fuzz and gravel out of my face and hair. My friend defends me saying “leave him alone, if you were him you’d be dead...”.

When zima first came out i was 10 years old, my dads girlfriend and i went to pick him up from work, he worked at a chemical plant so we'd wait at this little store called zacky's down the road for him to get off, anyway their were two model looking girls there promoting zima handing out free samples, they kept giving me zima & my dad didn't get there for a good hour, by the time he got there i was buzzed, this was back in the good old days when bars & restaraunts would let minors drink alcohol if you were with your parents, good times. 😁
