The not needing sunscreen myth was indeed a big thing for us Millenial kids growing up, my black friends also said the same. I have a French friend that had very thin hair. She started using coconut oil and in one year her hair turned sooo thick! I don’t use parachute though, just organic coconut oil. I think if dr. Micro needling was recommended to me by my dermatologist for brown spots and hyperpigmentation as well as laser for darker skin. Am between a 2-3 grade. The micro needling made my skin spots darker ! This was just the one no heat. I tried spot laserin at first it was slightly better and they said three treatments - second time worse! I tried every other cream now Am in hydroquinone just for some spots and a big one. Amy recommendations? Yes I use sunscreen everyday.

@kateStaelin3 ай бұрын
I was told that my sunscreen should have a tint to protect the hyperpigmentation better. What are your thoughts? Thank you!
@checksanity3 ай бұрын
Who said that? (As in, what is their knowledge/expertise?) Could there have been a miscommunication? Tinted sunscreens exist to counter the white cast that comes from having a high % of zinc oxide. That’s it. A tinted sunscreen may help hide or blur hyperpigmentation, but that does not mean it’s being *treated* A specific sunscreen might also add in ingredients that treat hyperpigmentation. However, that has nothing to do with whether the formula is tinted or not. The ingredients for tinting (adding colour) are not the same as treatment ingredients. -The above is based on information in this video, other Dr V videos, and frequently looking into ingredients lists.
@kateStaelin3 ай бұрын
@@checksanity aaaaah no miscommunication :). It was information given by a dermatologist... and a good one who has a channel.. and I have heard this from a few. I didn't say it " treated" I said he said it was a better alternative and gives better protection for those us who have brown skin :)
@joharvelle82883 ай бұрын
I work as an esthetician alongside a dermatologist. The reason for that is the iron oxides, which give the sunscreen its tint, help protect against blue light from phone screens, computers, etc, which can contribute to pigmentation issues over time. ☺️

Hi Vanita. I started watching your videos just a few weeks ago. Your videos are very informative. I am Guyanese with a medium complexion, I have Indian skin. I’ve been using fresh soy cleanser for about 2yrs, and I’ve noticed tiny pigmentations. I don’t know if it’s just me aging (I’m 36) or if that product stopped my skin barrier. I have tried multiple brands but can’t seem to find a cleaner to do what I want it to, I used to use different products years ago and my skin was literally the absolute best, that changed ever since I started using the fresh soy cleanser. The old acne scars are visible, there are tiny pigmentation. I bought a cetaphil gentle cleanser that I’m about to start using. I also use a vitamin C ans E oil as well. Please advise what skin routine I can follow for a flawless skincare 😊 thank you.

How can we determine the therapeutic index for some of the specific actives you mentioned, like Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate, Ferulic Acid, Licorice Root, etc.? I recognize some of these, having read them on ingredient lists in the past, but there aren't any percentages given so I have no way of knowing whether the manufacturer is putting enough of the ingredient into the serum for it to make a difference.

Hi Dr V, what is the difference between your skin care range sold in India and the UK? I am 50 years old and my main concerns are hyperpigmentation and ageing. I am of Indian origin, have an oily t-zone and live in a very hot and humid climate (mostly in South east Asia). I don't have acne but will get them on occasion if my skincare products are too rich (including milea seeds under my eyes). Thank you!
