@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet Жыл бұрын
Hey! :) Your skincare routine looks nearly correct. Use The Ordinary Mandelic Acid after your Snail Essence, Niacinamide and Alpha Arbutin as it has larger molecules. Since you have oily skin and are already using the Snail Essence, I suggest not using a moisturizer. The routine should be hydrating enough without feeling too heavy. Mandelic Acid is pretty gentle, I can use it daily but of course it depends on your skin tolerance. If you do not tolerate Mandelic Acid daily, use it to every other day or less often. I suggest using it only once per day - ideally in the evening.

Hi Melissa! I'm from India. My skin tone is medium and I've oily sensitive skin. I'm afraid now..should I still continue with that product? 😢
@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet Жыл бұрын
I'm not entirely sure, but some potential reactions to chemical peels include temporary redness, dryness, flaking, and, in some cases, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. This could temporarily darken your skin. This might have happened in your case, or it's also possible that your skin is merely reacting to being sensitized by the new product. I suggest giving it some time before trying it again. If this continues to happen, then I recommend discontinuing the product.

Technically yes. But I haven't had much luck with Azelaic Acid and Salicylic Acid for my mild acne. You can try it and see how it goes. If you can't get rid of your acne, I recommend using a low strength Benzoyl Peroxide treatment and just use it on your acne, only a small amount, and continue with the rest of your routine. It works better when using Azelaic Acid Suspension as the last step since it includes a lot of silicon. And it tends to pill very easily. If that happens, wait a couple of minutes before you apply it. But test it and see what you like most, that's just from my experience. I am currently using Azelaic Acid + Spot treat with Benzoyl Peroxide. That works exceptionally well for me! (I will share a video about that I am still trying and playing around in a couple of weeks.) Generally speaking, you need to test it. But the routine looks good. But from my experience, it does not work well for acne.

Haha, 🙂 Thank you. Well, I have tried Azelaic Acid, Niacinamide and Glycolic Acid as well as Ascorbic Acid and Alpha Arbutin. And lately, Retinol. From my experience, Ascorbic Acid and Alpha Arbutin work best, but if this is you on the picture, it may be best to go with Retinol, which can also help you with your blemishes. If you do not mind the feeling, you can use The Ordinary Granactive Retinoid 0,2 % in emulsion. But if you are looking for something that feels much better on the skin and may apply more comfortable, I recommend Paulas Choice 0.3% Retinol + 2% Bakuchiol Treatment. You can also use Ascorbic Acid and Alpha Arbutin ONLY on your dark marks and Paulas Choice 0.3% Retinol + 2% Bakuchiol Treatment in the evening, So AM: Wash your face Ascorbic Acid + Alpha Arbutin (Only on your marks) (Optional Moisturizer if you have dryer skin, I like La Roche Posay Ultra Fluid) Sunscreen (essential! because you have dark marks!) PM: Paulas Choice 0.3% Retinol + 2% Bakuchiol Treatment (2-3times per week) (Optional Moisturizer if you have dryer skin, I like La Roche Posay Ultra Fluid) That's about it.

@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet3 жыл бұрын
@@cheskaann1125 It's usually me, but sometimes my husband helps me depending on what else I am currently doing. 😉 If you use an Aloe Vera Gel, it may not be enough. But I have lived in a tropical climate for three years (Australia), and I also had this issue. You need to try gels or light fluids and see if that is already enough for your needs-for example, the La Roche Posay Toleriane Ultra Light fluid. Or try a local aloe vera gel and use it after Hyaluronic Acid. You can also try using something like Azelaic Acid that tends to work well, especially the one from Paula's Choice worked great for me under such conditions. Hi Melissa I have a quick question, please answer if you see this I just started using TO products I have the Hyalurinic acid, niacinamide acid, and the cleanser and I wanted to add the mandelic acid or peeling solution and the rose hip oil(not sure which one to use, battling with acne, hyperpigmentation and dark marks) Is there a way that I can add one or two into my routine ?
@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet2 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can use Mandelic Acid after Hyaluronic Acid and Niacinamide (daily) since it is a very gentle exfoliant. And the Rosehip Seed Oil is the last step. PM: Cleanser Hyaluronic Acid Niacinamide Mandelic Acid Rosehip Seed Oil If you want to use the peel, the routine will look like this. PM (once a week or less often) Cleanser wait 5 minutes for skin to dry Peeling Solution Leave on for no more than 10 minutes Rinse with water - pat dry Hyaluronic Acid Rosehip Seed Oil I also recommend watching my beginner's guide to learn why and how. hi Melissa thank you so much for this video it is packed with useful information and your hard work is seen!! I was wanting to start using the ordinary mandelic acid 10% in conjunction with salisylic acid as i heard they both do wonders together for sometimes dry but combination acne prone skin (mine is also a little reactive) but after watching this video i have realised i should not use thm together in the same routine. I am wondering, if i use mandelic acid one night of the week and cerave salicylic acid smoothing cleanser another night of the week (so exfoliate twice a week with different exfoliants) how will i know which exfoliant is making a difference for my skin? at the moment, I only use cerave hydrating cleanser, cetaphil moisturising spf 50 and the ordinary moisturising factors + HA. also- do you recommend paula's choice 2% salicylic acid or should i go with the cerave smoothing cleanser containing salicylic acid for my combination, acne prone skin? I would really appreciate if you could reply and help me out on this- thank you so much once again xx
@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet3 жыл бұрын
Hey! :) Have you already bought Cerave's Cleanser and The Ordinary Mandelic Acid? Well, The Ordinary Mandelic Acid 10% is a pretty gentle exfoliant since it has larger molecules which penetrate slower into the skin, therefore it's a great exfoliant if Glycolic Acid or Lactic Acid sting on the skin. If you are using Cerave's Smoothing SA Cleanser, you can use that one daily or less often throughout the week in your AM routine and use a gentle cleanser and Mandelic Acid daily or less often in your PM routine. Adjust the frequency of either one of them overtime depending on how your skin will react to it. Cerave's Smoothing SA Cleanser does not contain a lot of Salicylic Acid, however, I tried Cerave's Smoothing SA Cleanser (EU) and Renewing SA Cleanser (US). Personally, Cerave's Smoothing SA Cleanser feels pretty drying on my skin whereas the Renewing Version doesn't...so, keep an eye on how your skin reacts to the Smoothing SA Cleanser. Do you still get active acne?

@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet hey Melissa, my acne isn't actually acne acne I'm just really pimple and breakout prone which is often. I have been using the hydrating cleanser by cerave for a long time and just bought the mandelic acid- it hasn't arrived yet. I am brown-skinned and i watch videos by dr. Vanita Rattan who is a skin of colour specialist and recommends mandelic acid for people of colour alongside salicylic acid for best results hence why i bought mandelic acid by the ordinary. I haven't been exfoliating in a while so i know my skin will probably purge quite a bit once i start. I live in the UK so we have availability of the smoothing SA cleanser only- i tried it once and saw i got a couple spots and stopped straight away but i am thinking it was probably just my spots coming to the surface. The two SA products I am considering are cerave smoothing SA cleanser or paula's choice 2% salicylic acid.

@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet3 жыл бұрын
@@laraibdin Have you ever wondered if the cleanser or moisturiser + SPF or moisturiser alone is giving you pimples? Yes, you can use them during the same week. What's important to keep in mind is the frequency. So, start by using TO Mandelic Acid 3 times per week, once per day in your PM routine and use PC 2% BHA 2 times per week, once per day in your PM routine, when not using Mandelic Acid. Over time, you'll see how the frequency will work for and then if you can and want to, you can increase the frequency of both. Did I say this 🤔 I probably said something like Lactic Acid is gentler on the skin, but not that it is for sensitive skin, but I think you asked me about Glycolic Acid too, so if you compare them, Lactic Acid would be the gentler option. Mandelic Acid is excellent and usually better tolerated, but probably not as effective as Lactic or Glycolic Acid. Still, the conflict here is the Argireline solution, as it is sensitive to a low pH. @@juliem9621 No, unless the combination shouldn't work for you. The Ordinary recommends not using Niacinamide and Ascorbic Acid or Ethylated Ascorbic Acid in the same routine.

Can you mix mandelic acid with fruit, or seed oils?
@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet2 жыл бұрын
I suggest layering it for better results.

Hi Melissa! So I'm currently using The Ordinary Products and it has been doing my skin justice but I have a question! I use The Ordinary "Plant Derived in Squalene(or whatever it's called" but can I use the Hylaronic Acid, Plant Derived in Squalene, then Mandelic Acid or just Hylaronic Acid then Mandelic Acid? I want to use the mandelic acid in the morning and evening but it's says use ideally at night but I wake up at 5AM, can I still use it in the morning? I had a question about using the Mandelic Acid and Vitamin C Suspensions but I use the Mandelic every other night but you said I can alternate between morning and night.. Thank you!

Hey :) The correct order of application would be: Cleanser Hyaluronic Acid (Water-Based serum = lightest texture) Mandelic Acid (Anhydrous Solution = somewhere in between) Plant Derived Squalane (Similar to an Oil = heavier) SPF (if exposed to the sun /daytime) Yes, if you use Mandelic Acid with the Vitamin C suspension, it should work. Use it before. It says ideally at night because it is an exfoliating acid, which means that it removes the outer layer of the skin (dead skin cells), and as a result, the skin becomes more sensitive. However, that will also happen in the evening. So you can use it in the morning but follow with Sunscreen when exposed to the sun. Which you should generally do when working with exfoliating acids.

@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet Thank you so much! I had to ask because my skin has gotten really sensitive so I don't want to mess it up even more but I really enjoy watching your videos! They are briefly thoroughly explained! I hope you have a blessed one!

@@SlimT_ Since when do you experience sensitivity? Ever since you tried those products?

@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet It started from me using a Korean toner and it messed my eyes up causing them to look extremely puffy and cause my skin to peel cause me to look like I have a black eye lol.. Just started using The Ordinary about two months ago and I made the mistake of using the Vitamin C Suspension around my eyes and realized it was too strong on it's own so I mix it in with my Natural Moisturizing Factors every night.. Tried to use the AHA+BHA, it made my skin back to textured how it was before because my skin was EXTREMELY textured and using these products helped, and now I'm trying the mandelic acid and nothing bad happened so far, yet lol but I'm hoping for the best.. I used that and the Vitamin C last night so we'll see what happens

@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet And before the Ordinary, I was using Curology.. It helped but it didn't help that I was running out of products before the month was over
