I remember seeing Brad Lackey and later Jimmy Weinert race these bikes at the Trans-AMA races held at Saddleback Park back in the ‘70’s.

Yeah quick, didn't handle and a bear to start. But what a beauty.

Mine stripped the kick start ratchet inside the case. It would kickback in a very harsh way at times.

@jabomiles6947 yeah the kick back was savage.

I owned one back in the day. Bought it new as a teenager I thought it was a beast. The tank on that one looks to be metal, but mine was plastic with a bolt coming up through the center of the tank from the backbone of the frame. When I bought it they gave me a box with 1 extra piston, two extra sets of piston rings, and a front sprocket along with a spark plug or two and told me if I raced it I would need these parts. I remember the revs went up fast when you blipped the throttle but seemed like it took it a second or two to return to idle. I am thinking it didn't have a kick stand but may be wrong. After all it has been 50 years.

My Step Father. Gave me this same bike 1973 450 kx 2 stroke .50 over used it for hill drags . Dropped the bottom out and destroyed the entire motor. This was a beast.

Friend owned a Kawaski shop and just happened to have KX450 engine. Lets put it in my Elsinore, what could go wrong??? Woulden't fit without bending and adding a piece to the frame. I did such fantastic tank slappers all over the track, no one dared pass.🤣

i had a 1973, it was more than a handful. way tooo much torque . Riding friends would beg to ride it, that always ended badly for them..
