@@imranharith8936 Philosophy was indeed very prominent in Andalus, but as discussed in this video there was an important mystical tradition in Andalusian Islam - beginning with Ibn Masarra and reaching its peak with Ibn Arabi, etc. A bit later, in the 13th century, a mystical stream in Judaism known as Kabbalah became widespread in the Christian kingdoms of northern Spain. That would be a very brief answer, but there is much more to say about this..

I try too to connect jewish qabbalah to sufism is Spain, but in a very particular topic, I'lm al huruf. Here I heard that Ibn Massar wrote a book about Huruf and Propheties, and the jew Abou Lafia wrote on this topic too. Studying etymology of semitic languages, I came to the fact that each Harf has its own meaning, and understand why jewish and muslim "mysticism" said us that Al-3alamyn, the universe, was created with the Huruf.

It was story about one ancestor,who came from this area of Andalusia/Spain.After DNA test,result show that some ancestors came from this area and that they are of "Iberian" origin ... I am writing you from Cordoba, Spain. I visited the Mezquita earlier today. This is an awe-aspiring edifice. Tomorrow, I go to Seville. Next week, to North Morocco. And in two weeks, back to the States. I was in Toledo and Granada in late 2021 and visited the Alhambra at that time. Your pictures brings back memories (even from earlier today!). In Andalusia, the culture is highly influenced by their Islamic past as shown in their cuisine (e.g. paella), music (e.g. flamenco (with a heavy dose of Roma culture too)) and language. They celebrate ibn Arabi, ibn Rushd and ibn Maymun (Maimonides) in small ways and big. Andalusia is a magical place. I cannot imagine but that Sufism would make its mark on this land. Thing I love about Sufism is it gives you freedom to your own interpretation of Quran & Sunnah, whereas Wahhabi ideology you have to follow the interpretation of ped0-Najdi Sheikhs hiding in Saudi Arabia. Also, in Sufism you can keep your original culture, where as in Wahhabi cult, every NonArab dresses like Bedouin Arab. Sufis even in corporate good logical things about other religion as long as they don’t contradict the Quran.

I'm from Portugal and, although born Catholic Christian, both my parents had throughout my early years taught me various mystical concepts that they referred to as Kabballistic and I've always been passively curious. Islam in the west (Hispania and Roman Mauretania) has always been very different from that in the east. It's rather traditional, yet very spiritual. And not political. A religion of saints and almost shamanic way.

Sufism is easy to define. It is one of the many Islamic sciences that deepens one's faith, experience and knowledge about God. It leads to unity with God while physically alive. It is mystical in that it has inner experiences that others may not perceive, the practices are traditional mystical practices (ex. prayers, fasting, etc.) and there are metaphysical realities that go beyond the physical senses.

I noticed that you always go hard with your Arabic pronunciation/accent and usually seem to prefer not to use anglicizations, but when it came to Spanish you chose the anglicization “Seville” instead of “Sevilla.” Likewise for Córdoba and some other Spanish words. Qut-al-qulub was my paternal grandmother’s name. Everyone just called her Uta so I never even knew what her full name was until later in my life, after she passed away. But what a beautiful name to have, “the nourishment of hearts,” She was a remarkable woman in so many ways.

This reminds me so much of the C.13th Franciscan genius in western Christendom. If thinking particularly of the cosmos as revelatory of God, love of neighbour, particularly the poor, asceticism, and the primacy of love. They have the same Neo-Platoic source, and I wonder did they ever encounter each other, at least (at best) in the intellectual sphere.

It's not neo platoic source but the source is from Allah to Prophets and particularly in Holy Quran.

The later sufis got influenced by Plato and Aristotles. Thats why the later sufis are considered non orthodox/heretical by muslim scholars who ascribe to a pure version of islam without outside influences

thank you so much for your efforts here....Sufic mysticism has always resonated with myself....I have always believed, and practiced the contemplation of nature as proof of God's existence....I was privileged to have studied under Mrs. Annie Lou Stavely here in Oregon when she was still living who studied directly under Mr. Gurdjieff in 1948 until his death. Meeting one's spiritual teacher on the astral plain, through dreams, is an experience all of us can have, I believe, meeting a master who can point you to God, and help one to develop one's own individuation of God.
