Fake Name Different era, I was 13/14 at the time it came out and movie stars were real movie stars because you only saw them at the cinema or occasionally on TV. This was pre celebrity, social media etc.so the stars had a real mystique. Watching a movie in them days was more difficult, even with VCRs coming in so they were a big deal. The actors in this movie have very classic American looks with great bone structure, a throwback to James Dean and Sal Mineo. That said there are more diverse looking people from other races on screen now which is good. Things always look rosy through the eyes of nostalgia.

A 40s movie isn't equivalent to a movie from 1986, Anne. 40s movies were in black and white, had no cursing or nudity. I was alive in 86. I saw The Fly, Aliens, and Predator 1 in 86 and 87. If that was equivalent to a 40s movie, I'm richer than Bill Gates. 80s movies are more similar to movies from TODAY than they were to 40s flicks. Not trying to ruffle your feathers or anything, but it's true. And times do chance. I get your main point.

When I watched this movie I immediately admired the PERFECT casting 🤩. Each character looked exactly how I imagined them in my head while reading the book. Dally's elfish face and cold but charming demeanor, Johnny's scared nervous eyes, Sodas "movie star" good looks, and Ponyboys thoughtfulness and longing we're casted and played beautifully ❤️ this will forever be my favorite book just because it offered a prospective I'd never seen before.😊

Just to clarify everyone again , ignorance isn't always bliss this video is from like 04 I am assuming, C. Thomas Howell by then was severely sick he lost about I would say 3 FT of intestine in 2003 due to a serious bout with appendicitis , it really affected him , so be mindful when making aging or looking comments, like TheZombiehunter24 did .
