I would argue matt wasn't actually wrong tho, belos is kinda misunderstood, but in a different way then you're expecting. Sure, he isn't currently given some tragic backstory or anything, but thats not the misunderstood part, its more his motivations. Belos was misunderstood because our and even luz's initial assumptions about him was he sought power and did what he did for purely selfish reasons, evil to be evil. But no, belos, to him at least, thinks he's a hero protecting the home he cares about from being corrupted by witchs, creatures his home would've made him fear for years. Hes a villian who thinks he's a hero because he grew up in a system that fear mongered him, just like what he ended up doing to others. So I think Matt was kinda right, belos is less "evil" and more "thinks he's the hero of his own story".

When it comes to Collector killing Belos, while I can totally understand why people didn't like that decision (and this kinda thing will always be subjective), I would like to say: I personally loved it because they don't COMPLETELY kill him. He gets taken out as the main threat for the Boiling Isles, which IS really sudden, but he's clearly still going to be a threat for the hexsquad (plus Vee and Camila possibly) in the human realm. That, and it's a great way of showing how horrifying Collector's powers truly are. With the flick of a finger, he swiftly and effortlessly disposed of the man who caused SO MUCH damage throughout the show, and combining that with the whims of a child makes it so much worse. But it isn't an official, definitive end to Belos either. He'll still have time to shine as his vile, manipulative self, just a little bit longer. Also, I was so fucking relieved when the events of Elsewhere and Elsewhen turned out to be a closed loop overall. No alternate timelines or paradoxes or some shit. Like yeah it does make things a bit more complicated, but in a way that recontextualizes past episodes, adds more to the story, makes sense, and STILL doesn't make things convoluted. It's a breath of fresh air.

Fun fact: The Collector actually wasn't planned until after the shortening. It's likely that all the stuff that was planned for Seasons 2 and 3 was either cut or all showed into Season 2. Season 3 is completely new stuff they only thought of because the shortening exists. TOH became incredible to you only in large part because of the shortening Also, the reason why it was shortened is because it was serialized when the channel was shifting to episodic series. Amphibia got its 3rd season greenlit right before the branding shift so it avoided that fate.
@christopherauzenne50232 жыл бұрын
well if that's the case, that seems very off to me. wouldn't it be easier to just try and rework the plan to fit a 2 1/2 hour format instead of creating something new from scratch. @@RainbowNiffty I feel like ASIAS was more of a Hunter episode, like what was said in the video. The cold open of the episode was entirely about him, he was given the most conflict, and he might’ve even had more overall screentime (I’d have to check though). I wish it could’ve been more like Labyrinth Runners, which was very clearly a Gus episode despite Hunter playing a big role.

About kikimora in episode 11: I've read an interpretation that, because she eavesdroped enough on Belos to know about the collector, that she know that he wanted to kill all magic kind (Belos and collector most likely talked about that a lot), so her wanting the approval of Belos is because she wanted to hopefully convince him to spare her. Maybe Kiki didn't know of a way to remove her coven sigil, so she was doomed to die if she just ran away from Belos.

So i will say this, season 1 was by no means perfect or overly amazing but it was fun and set alot of bricks that would be called back in season 2. Season 1 may not have been a real eye catching season but as we go into season 3 and after everything that happened in season 2, season 1’s shenanigans and little buildups are almost nostalgic. Everything from the silly little adventures of eda, king, and luz to the first introduction of the relationship between luz and amity and as far as the hexside gang; everything felt like a fun adventure. I feel like this was almost intentional, to have a season where it was just to set up the gradual on-take of what luz would eventually be tasked to do. Now that we are in the endgame, looking back, it feels like season 1 was meant to be a representation of luz being able to play out her fantasy of a magic world but gradually coming to the realization that this is much more than she let on. By the end of season 1, it locks itself into this idea that luz needs to start thinking about what she wants and what the world really means to her and from that point on, the show let itself take grip. I will agree with cartoon, by no means is owl house a masterpiece of animation or is it a fundamental staple in the world of cartoons, but owl house has definitely upheld itself to the standards of shows like gravity falls or futurama, and what started as a fun loving adventure of fantasy has blossomed into a fantastical tale of discovering who you are and immaculate story telling and character development. And to cover the season 3, i know there is so much lore to analyze but although things look rough; I have a great sense of optimism that Dana and her team will put out the best possible closing episodes they can and im here to support them in any way. Its like cartoonshi said, it may not be under the same circumstances, but if Gravity falls was able to wrap up their show in an hour and a half, almost 3 hours worth of content is entirely possible to go above and beyond. To paraphrase Dana herself, “It sucks about the shortening of season 3 but lets not go in to it with a defeatist mindset, crunch time makes for more ambitious ideas and much more inventive possibilities”. Great video cartoonshi, i share your sentiment in hope that it ties up its story with grace.
