Another reason why players stop wearing that type of chinstrap is because the inside is cloth & tends to hold on to sweat & bacteria, putting bumps on your chin!!! Which by the way can very easily become staff infection!!!

I remember these giving me the worst breakout ever. I just constantly had pimples on my chin through high school. I got so tired of it that I basically scrubbed my skin off. That was probably the worst part of it. The only injury I got was a helmet to the chin in pee wee that left a bruise. My teacher asked me about it so I guess she wondered if there was some abuse at home.

Right. I played RB and CB and I hated those thick chinstraps. Talking was hard and I couldn’t communicate to the defense unless we used hand signals which only works if someone is looking at you and not the formation in front of us.
