The Painful Reality Of Reviewing The Twelve 36

In such an unpredictable world, it's hard to keep a positive outlook. Even when looking at situations from different perspectives, we can still see how closely related we all are.
The Twelve 36 from Christopher Ward takes on the trend of smaller-sized watches that’s widening the audience from men to unisex. How does it compare to the top sports watch in the affordable market? You know, Tissot’s PRX.

also, during your time with the watch, did you find the face of the watch sliding away from you often like at 6:25? that is something that bothers me personally in a watch, and it would be an important point of consideration for me if I were shopping for the Twelve

It will be an issue if you don’t size it tightly. Because the links are a bit wider so it has more room to slide. There are half links for these though. Those will help greatly.

As a previous tissot prx chronograph owner who felt discomfort with the prx bracelet within an hour of wearing it, I have loved the CW Twelve bracelet so much more. All day comfort. Happily paying the extra money for that, the smoother 4 hz sweep, and the finishing.

The size of the watch in numbers does not tell the whole story. It’s the bezel to dial ratio that makes the design. A 34mm Rolex OP from the 70s looks very different to an OP34 from today.

This ist the first time I am checking your channel (you poped up on my feed). I have to say: great text. Great transitions (with all the effects). BUT! The first 6 minutes are painful to watch: Your lighting ist very difficult and unpleasant. You have a lot of hard light and shadows on your set that became distracting and make the video very hard to look. To make a soft light you just need a blanket sheet do difuse it. And bounce some light on the ceiling. Nothing fancy. This gonna improve your video quality enourmously. I wish you succes in your futur videos. By the way, i have subscribed because of your content.

Great review and comparison. It is very clear to me that the difference is refinement in finishing as well as effort in simoky more interesting and intricate details. That said, I did spot various finishing imperfections in the macro shot that I wasnt expecting. Some may be from this beinf a handed-down review unit, especially where the bracelet and lugs are concerned, but I wasnt expecting it on the hand stack and logo, for example. That gives some reason for pause, as it seems to be worse on some examples than others, collating various Twelve reviews and executions. I guess you'd be hard pressed to notice without a macro lens though, and generally that is the measure I live by, considering I never take a macrolens to admire my watch on wrist. It's nice you got this coloir variant. I think, on the whole, it has my preference in their current line up, but I'd appreciate more options. Still, I'm not sure if I like the Twrlve sufficiently to pursue this as an integrated bracelet watch for me. There is bewildering choice, cheaper and more expensive, but also simply more characterful, perhaps even more balanced on the whole. The Straum Jan Mayen comes to mind. But that doesn't help a poor pirate with slender wrists. Both because it's more expensive and because it's bigger. In your wrist, the 36mm Twelve could still be described as beefy, thus lot's of presence. Does it suit you? Without a doubt!
@DesignAtelier
@DesignAtelier Жыл бұрын
I think you hit it on the head there. I lack the equipment (macro lens) to fully display the details but these imperfections are not just found here but in many entry level Swiss brands. I’m ok with that. It’s still amazing to look at.

@@Super3xtr4 men “declaring” themselves women does not automatically encompass trans people. I can declare myself as the king of the universe but that doesn’t ACTUALLY make me the king of the universe. Also here’s the simple truth: a man is a man down to his very dna. No one can FULLY transform from man into a woman and vice versa. It’s scientifically and naturally impossible. Regarding respect, I’m fine if I have not earned your respect. It’s how life is. People I respect, I know by name and personally as a person. They are not merely men, women, gay, trans, black, yellow or pirates. They are persons to me not merely people.

@@hunderskunder2596 “Apart from the finishing” I’m pretty sure you have answered your own question before you’ve asked it. Finishing is everything when referencing quality. Price & power reserve are irrelevant to why I think the CW is better quality. Your opinion that the PRX looks better, great. Many others will prefer the Twelve. I have the PRX blue dial & I have the Arctic White 40mm Twelve. Hold them in your hand, put them on your wrist & there’s only one winner & that’s why it’s more expensive.
@hunderskunder2596
@hunderskunder2596 Жыл бұрын
To me, the CW screams "look at me, how much finishing tricks I can use to justify the price increase"...just because you can, doesn't mean you should. It's far too busy and not cohesive. I guarantee in 10 to 20 years the twelve will not age as gracefully as the PRX. This is already partly true as the PRX is a 50 year old design and looks just as great today, as it did in the 70s. The bracelet facets of the twelve, the awkward and sudden taper, the twelve sided bezel and strange logo just will not age as well as the PRX. Good for you if you enjoy it, and at the end of the day that's all that matters. These are just my thoughts@@tiffer67

From what I understand Tissot PRX is a lower quality watch, including the movement. In quartz versions, PRXs se ond hand often doesn't even align with markers.
@ApurtureSci
@ApurtureSci Жыл бұрын
That isn't really an indication of quality, I've seen extremely expensive quartz watches that don't hit the markers. It's still fair to say that the PRX is lower quality overall, but with the quartz being 1/3 the price of a Twelve, that's to be expected and actually represents fantastic value.
@johnnie5442
@johnnie5442 Жыл бұрын
@@ApurtureSci perhaps... but hands no hitting the markers to me is super annoying. Or when you set perfect time, using an atomic clock app, and then the minute hand does not align with the markers while the second hand does - on a mechanical valjoux 7750 that I have - also unacceptable. I mean, they're supposed to be a fine instrument, not a mere accessory
