Right now, the Creaking's eyes glow in the dark and stand out like a sore thumb. The scare factor goes away immediately if you can just instantly spot it. There are many options they could choose to fix or improve it, like for example: *1. Make the Creaking close its eyes when it stops.* This allows it to blend in the shadows better (when you look at it, it takes a few frames to actually come to a stop, so you would still see a flash of orange out of the corner of your eye when you turn around). *2. Add Fireflies as ambient particle effects.* Think about it... Not only would it show Mojang listens to the community, renewing a scrapped concept, but it would also be perfect for this biome. Imagine orange fireflies that look _exactly_ like the Creaking's eyes. So if you see a movement of orange, you wouldn't be sure if it was a firefly particle or a Creaking! *3. Add decoy plants that resemble the Creaking.* Right now, the biome is seriously lacking in undergrowth. Adding dead-sapling plants (with both 1-tall and 2-tall variants) would be the perfect way to do this. Have them look like normal dead shrubs during the day, but at night parts of them would glow to look like Creaking eyes.

One Idea I saw people throwing around also was to add a unique flower to the biome one that has a similar effect ot the whiter rose but causes blindness instead of whitering that way the garden aspect starts to make more sense the player has a reason to go back to the biome (flower can grown only on it) and it also helps with making the creaking harder to notice

I once built a creepy castle and it would fit the new pale garden biome perfectly. I hope when they show more of the biome they add stuff like garden walls archways to make it a maze with maby a small castle in the middle of the forest made out of equally dark blocks. They also should place white flowers in the biome to spice it up. They could also bring back the fireflys, maby they could act as a Red Herring to spook or misslead the player. Maby players mistake a swarm of fireflies as the creaking due to it having similar glowing eyes or that the player thinks it just fireflies but there is a creaking hiding in the swarm.

@@crimsoncapricorn188exactly 💯. I would imagine it to be one of a few preset variants of garden walls and archways and other ruins scattered haphazardly throughout the biome. They wou be spaced out but can sometimes be found in clusters. So if you were a exploring a large pale garden you wou quickly get lost and you would probably have a hard time finding your way out due to the ruins being roughly the same throughout the biome. It would be true maze. Typhlo ruins dose emulate the vibe I was going for. Low visibility and similar structures scattered throughout the area to confuse and make the player get lost. Maby the biome could have a unique feature were it when it rains it instead creates a thick fog that covers the biome. Maby when it thunderstorms it rains and fogs the biome and wile it thunderstorms Creakings can spawn, if that's to much for mojang then they could make that a ominous event for the extra challenge.
@gmanplaysgames256Ай бұрын
Agree 100% with everything you said. There also needs to be a bit more reason to actually explore the Pale Garden and interact with the Creaking. All the unique blocks can be quickly gathered right on the edge of the biome in a couple of minutes, grab some wood, grab some moss, grab some saplings and dip out. A generated structure with some kind of unique loot inside, even just an armor trim and a banner pattern, would be good, it doesn't even have to be a big generated structure, something in between a witch hut and an abandoned village would be fine (frankly an abandoned village variant made of pale oak would work perfectly well) if they can code it to always generate somewhere near the middle of the biome that would be perfect, then you always have to venture inside. Something useful to do with the Creaking Heart is practically a must though, as fun as it will be to hide a bunch of these around your friend's base to mess with them, it should have some actual function.

Unlike the warden there will be multiple Creakings following you at the same time. Having them move that fast would just end up making the encounter incredibly annoying due to getting constantly swarmed. It also breaks the challenge of quickly trying to break the Creaking heart befor it can close the distance. I like what they did with the Creaking, it us unkillable but as a trade off not that fast or particularly strong. I think its perfectly balanced for mob that spawns in a biome that a new player could possibly spawn in. I think the harder challenges should be hidden in structures, the underground, ominous events and other dimensions were the player probably already had some time to learn the games mechanics.

Things I wish could be changed / don’t enjoy** One, the name is kinda misleading, I feel like the Pale Forest would be more in line with other biome names. Two, the sound effects are brilliantly creepy but if I want to use that wood type in a build with hanging moss than I have to hear the freaking none stop. Three, the dirt colour is too light compared to the rest of the biome. Four, the Tree’s don’t look like willows in the slightest, however I will maybe give it a pass as I hate chopping down unique trees ( mangrove as a example ) Five, the wood type is too pink toned for my liking. Six, I enjoy that passive mobs won’t spawn in the ‘ Garden ‘ however I don’t think creepers, skeletons, zombies should spawn either as it ruins the atmosphere. Seven, I think some structures could be good for the biome maybe like some stone brick pillars or collapsed columns showing what could’ve maybe been a thriving garden once upon a time. Eight, the biome upon generation is far too small & often very hilly I would’ve preferred a forest big enough to get lost in. Things I can enjoy are the new Pale Moss/Hanging Moss, hope we get hanging moss for regular moss. The skybox turning gray alongside water, dulling all other plants in the biome. The Creaking is a great treat for a doctor who fan like me. It’s a fun subversion on the Warden having a vision based mob. The Bark on the trees is quite cool reminds me of basalt.

I didn't even think about changing the tree, but i completely agree! i had made my own video of my suggestions, and i had suggested more damage for the creaking as you did, but i also mentioned adding a reason to go to the biome. of course not every biome needs a purpose to stay for long periods of time, however when a biome has a unique mob that seems to be guarding it, i feel there should be a bigger reason that a wood type for you to go there. And yes i know you can get the creaking heart, but i don't see a huge use for that ATM. The biome definitely needs some improvement, and i'm sure Mojang will deliver, judging off the resent updates!

there's another problem with this whole thing too. You can get the wood type during the day, you can get the creaking heart during the day. The creaking only spawns at night. Even if you were to go just to collect the wood, or the heart, what reason would you have to stay past nightfall, when you know all that awaits you then is an annoyance equivalent to silverfish in a way. they need either to make creakings spawn during the day too, or somehow manage to find a way to incentivize the player to visit the biome SPECIFICALLY at night

I actually think the pale forest *and* the dark forest should have a mob that can harm the player above the canopy. The canopy being very closed is what makes these biomes a bit more dangerous. While monsters won't spawn during the day, they will easily persist into the morning thanks to the shade. There should be a mob that makes the canopy still dangerous. What I came up with was a giant daddy long legs kinda monster which can phase through leaves with its tall legs and see the player on the canopy, and then it would shoot something. Another more obvious idea would be some kind of flying monster. Since people find phantoms and vexes annoying, perhaps its pathfinding should be more like that of a blaze or a bee.

Glad to hear that I wasn't the only one that's like, "I like this already, but it could be even better". Been seeing a lot of people giving *just* hate, and it's quite sad! It's a really cool concept, and I totally agree that they should expand on it some more. Love your idea of the trees looking more unique to separate them more from the already existing dark oaks! I also think that some type of biome-specific flora or crop should be added to help with the "garden" in it's name. Though I do get having that name in the first place as to not add onto the "forest" redundancy that already sort of exists for around 8(10) biomes. I could be misremembering, I think I recall Agnes mentioning The Creaking having a connection to a book? And I've also heard that blocks placed in that biome actually look sort of muted (drained in color), which is a neat detail if true. And yeah, 100%, The Creaking could be a little more menacing for sure! Love the visual and sound design, but if the gameplay they showed is accurate we're in for a mob that's only threatening early game. Part of me wants to think that some things were adjusted for the showcase like the damage it deals for example. I've had some "brain rot", if you will, since the reveal of The Pale Garden and The Creaking tbh. I typed up some ideas, and doodled some stuff just for fun. Like a couple of plants that could be added (moonflower in particular, possibly some white and green gourds and/or pumpkins). Along with the idea of there being harvestable sap from the trees! (Since the Creaking Heart looks pretty amber-like to me) In the end, hopefully they see the community's ideas/feedback and improve on their concept! Also sorry for the long comment lol

I honestly give it hate because it should've been thought out more. I don't expect the Pale Garden to be any more than it currently is... The thing is mangroves could've been worked on to be way more useful but when they finally came out they were pretty much useless and forgettable. A lot of the features they put up is basically just the same. The allay, the sniffer. I don't regard them as features though. The 1.20 trails and tales was a huge disappointment for a MAJOR update. Wild Update didn't make the world feel any more lively and only made it feel more bloated. So I can expect 1.21 to follow

I think it would be cool if the creaking had a hoard buff, would become exponentially more threatening as you explore the Pale Forest. The buff could be a simple additional speed + strength, but having it be exponential would create incentive to break the hearts. There should definitely be some sort of reward for conquering the biome as well.
@magolor2706Ай бұрын
They specifically mentioned you can break the creaking heart and place it anywhere you want to spawn it there but... If it still attacks you, what's the point? I think you should be able to do something to the creaking heart to purify it, and make it a sort of minion or guard for your base. This friendly creaking might have a more vibrant appearance, with a dull brown and some bunches of leaves around it.

The creaking surely can use some strenght and speed buffs, but speaking about the pale >GARDEN< itself: well, it doesn't have the amount of flora you would expect from a garden, so here is my idea: throw another type of plant; a new one that come with teo variants: a vine hanging from above and a mossy bush coming from the ground. The vine thingy would apply Blindness for 2-5 seconds if you walk past it (allowing the creaking to get closer to you, or at least make you freak out thinking he'll approach now you technically can't see him), while the bush one would give you slowness. This way, you have double functionallity: decoration and challenge. You are walking backwards while looking to a creaking? Be careful, you might mangle yourself inside the vines that will blind you. You decide to run? The creaking is not only slightly faster than you, but watch your step to not trample on a bush that makes you slower. Can you imagine the tension?
@ivon1671Ай бұрын
The damage isn't really a problem, it's the attack speed. If their attacks are rapid and relentless, low damage doesn't matter. You get what I mean? They shouldn't deal five hearts of damage instantly, but one heart every 0.2 seconds let's say. Combined with great movement speed, it would be dangerous, but you still have the power to reduce the damage if you're quick enough. The Creaking's mechanics should be based on thinking fast.
@PhonyLyzardАй бұрын
I mostly agree. I think that they shouldn't just scrap the inverted dark oak forest theme though, that's clearly intentional and what they're going for, but a couple of tall twisting and winding trees that could act as the one block wide variant of the thicker 2 block wide trees mixed in with the rest would definitely be a good balance of both worlds.

Some other things that might be interesting would be: Pale Garden increases fog to Beta minecraft levels. Creaking's animation has it's chase-state (or an animation that's only for when it hasn't attacked the player in a certain amount of time), have a bunch of still frames that do not move even if the entity moves, leaving it behind. It'd have the start of it's animation being a stiff step motion where it is much slower than a player, but then once it actually finishes it's motion towards the end of the animation, it catches up and jumps ahead suddenly as if it'd taken 3 or 5 of the steps, would certainly give it a creepier vibe than a stiff thing that runs hella fast which just seems more funny than scary. And change it so Creakings spawn only in line of sight from the player, makes it so there's less of a chance of them surrounding you at the start, and if a player keeps looking in one direction for a long time distracted, eventually they'd look up just to see the whole screen is filled with the creaking, and if they are too far away, instead of despawning like most mobs, they teleport towards the front of the player so long as they're still within the Pale Garden, it feels more like the Creaking would be punishing the player for exploring it's biome or spending too long in it if that was the case, and also fits with the sort of thing I assume it is inspired by.

It feels like the damage and speed are an either/or situation. Either enhance the damage so mistakes feel more dramatic, or enhance the speed so that small mistakes are easier to commit. I think it's fine if it's weak as long as it all balances out, since they also act as excellent support to other mobs, as they distract you. So it doesn't need to be a damage dealer, kind of like the breeze are in trial chambers. It just needs to cause enough chaos that other mobs get cheap shots in. I personally think the current speed can work really well if we give the creaking a high step height. If this thing can climb up 2 blocks, it suddenly creates a LOT of pressure on the player, as you can't easily block it in, or easily dig it into a hole while staring at it. And the difference in speed is made up since it does not need to jump. Even without damage, this level of movement would ensure that players feel uncomfortable looking away from it as it would make movements that seem unpredictable in the time between glances.

I have an idea that would add more to the biome: Underground Garden Maze! Imagine, a maze where you need to guide yourself in the dark, having to look everywhere for the Creakings and finding valuable loot and a story of why this is called "Garden" and not "Forest". Perhaps the loots could include a new trim with foliage growing through the armor, An axe enchantment to break entire trees and a completely new item exclusive to the Pale Garden

Great video. I totally agree with all these suggestions. Luckily the update seems to be a few months away so they should have a decent amount of time to really polish these ideas
@ethanhawksley9097Ай бұрын
I really wish the biome was a mix between a structure and a biome, a little like the ruined city but more garden-themed with a bunch of new plant blocks. Think a bit more overgrown, scattered, and larger version of the hedge maze/naga arena from Twilight Forest.
@talonitex6441Ай бұрын
Ok I advocate for the tree redesign
@mathibus9212Ай бұрын
Your video with the drawing is super cool i love it

They've added the creaking with no use at all, but Tuff Golems could be added. (Use white/pale pimpkins to make it a permanent statue.)
@JustcommentinhereАй бұрын
2:43 obviously he will take more damage and this is just to make that "challange" easier for them
@Davkar.UАй бұрын
Maybe the mob could apply a stacking poison? So it could further justify its low damage and capitalize on quantity, that with your raising movement speed idea could make a interresting chase scene
@tysonfontanezАй бұрын
I think: 1. There needs to be some reason for the player to enter the Pale Garden at night. As it stands, they can just avoid this entire mechanic by harvesting the wood during the day. 2. It would be very cool if the Pale Garden "spread" into other forests, like the surrounding dark forest, converting trees to Pale Oak and summoning new Creaking Hearts. It already feels like some kind of infection and I would love it if they leaned into that
@RosieeGFАй бұрын
I hope they add more flowers exclusive to the biome, since it's named a garden. And to give a reason to actually go there for something other than the wood.
@7bLo01Ай бұрын
I had an idea just to make the creaking a bit more unique, what if instead of just stopping when you look at it, the creaking also goes invisible. Destroying the heart doesn't kill it but instead removes its ability to turn invisible. Idk 🤷♀️
@TheNaturalistGuyАй бұрын
This is actually really awesome, I agree

+1 bro Mojang going lazy and it making most of us sad and angry i hope they preparing something big
@captaincookie72Ай бұрын
For me all it needs is to have unique tree shapes that match how the sapling looks and I kind of wish the creaking's eyes weren't so obvious all the time and they did more damage
@contademezАй бұрын
It's all a biome at the end of the day, though it's confirmed to only be a variation of dark oak forest, I still think it needs a distinguishable look, but I like it very much atm. All I ask is a better fog and ambience
@koboldwizardАй бұрын
I feel like this is the best way to put a lot of minecrafts additions, they're fine, but they have so much more potential that could be met
@Hehe-oz2ibАй бұрын
I think it would be a good idea to make the creaking more unique by making them ignore armour so no matter the armour you wear they do like 3-4 hearts of damage
@jammertoonsajАй бұрын
I definitely think they should be atleast not too common but very strong and fast.. as it would be more terrifying comming across one then comming across a bunch of weak ones that just get annoying
@spoookleyАй бұрын
i do love that it’s called ‘the creaking’ & not ‘the creaker’ given that it’s more of an ~instance~ , less of a mob. i do think it would be cooler if they *drained* your health at a certain rate instead of several attacks, like it’s absorbing your nutrients instead of thwacking you a few times
@lukabeglarishvili2254Ай бұрын
Honestly, I believe it's weak probably because it's supposed to be an early game encounter. Just a thought.
@kilimounais9936Ай бұрын
I mean they still working on it i dont think they didnt finished it yet
@chickenbreadedАй бұрын
If the creaking chunked your health and was slightly faster than sprinting, it would be enough. Though fog effects would be nice...
@Avokadik13Ай бұрын
I think it could be a good idea to keep the damage low, but make them hit you really fast. They already moving kinda hasty, and it will motivate players to look at Creaking as fast as possible
@theprincemonster7575Ай бұрын
So here is how I would fix the pale garden (keep in mind I didn’t watch the video yet) I feel like the trees need to have a unique design rather than the dark oak tree and also I want there to be more of a reason to try to find and explore a pale garden rather than just the wood type: maybe a tiny structure similar to an ocean ruin that might have a special item, also add fog to make it creepier and make the creaking spawn during the day to stop players from just entering there during the day and taking all the loot
@sameerrai1055Ай бұрын
Personally I think they should increase the chances of a woodland mansion to spawn in this biome and the chances of a Woodland mansion spawning anywhere else be rarer. This would give a reason to explore this biome and add more to the spooky aspect of the structure.
@scottthesmartape9151Ай бұрын
I REALLY want to build a small Japanese town with the pale forest surrounding it
@gamerboynycАй бұрын
Armor persing would also make it more threatening. It should be a threat at any level but not an instant game over.
@captainphoton1693Ай бұрын
I sense an ominous event Comming with stronger creakings. Anything that has a set condition to happen is likely to get ominous now.
@shadowbaconwarrior5604Ай бұрын
Personally the best thing to make everything harder and fix all theese issues while keeping everything else mostly the same is make the vines hurt you, clearly it’s Pale Vines Aka dead vines which would obviously have Thorns on it, this could behave similar to the berry bushes
@FrodoStickitАй бұрын
Make the Creaking blink & then it’s perfect chance for Mojang to add fireflies to make the player second guess if they’ve spotted a Creaking
@Dirtyfrog51Ай бұрын
I like the name Pale Garden honestly. It contributes to the eerie atmosphere, implying that the place is not natural... it is cultivated by something for some unknowable purpose
@DavidStrchldАй бұрын
Pale gardens idea to have look identical at first to dark oak biome (or whatever biome) that slowly fades towards B&W as one stays there after which the creaking comes out. Also it should have a garden in it.
@julianemery718Ай бұрын
Maybe the damage could scale with how many creaking there are? It could go either way; the more creaking, the more damage, or the less creaking, the more damage
@canoa223Ай бұрын
I think the name "Pale Garden" sounds pretty eerie, nevertheless it should have not only trees that look more like weeping willows, but some twisted flowers and other flora. I would also make it so you hear whispers and steps around you every now and then, so you can never be sure if there's a creaking behind you or not. I would change more things, but I think those are the bare minimum to make it more interesting than a palette swap of a dark oak forest.
@firestorm5371Ай бұрын
2:55 it would be interesting if the creaking would always do 1 full hart of damage no matter the armor you where
@nicholasfitzgerald5482Ай бұрын
I think the creaking needs buffs, but not without some kind of reward. The reward for getting rid of them is that you just don't have to deal with them anymore, so that you can get wood. I also fail to see how the ability to silk touch the creaking heart and summon it elsewhere is useful.
@Terminated_AccountАй бұрын
That title applies to every update after 1.16.
@drrenwtfrickАй бұрын
what if the damage permeates through the armor and always deals the same damage so its constant for early game to end game players
@AaronLacasse-z2fАй бұрын
I wish the pale garden occasionally spawned in small patches scattered throughout other forest variants, would make the name "garden" make more sense and you'd be more likely to run in the Creaking while not directly visiting the biome
@mateusneves589Ай бұрын
i wish there were new flowers for a self-proclaimed garden, i feel like theres a lack of em
@Minifigure17Ай бұрын
I think the creaking should be buffed, but that should also be justified by a reason to actually want to encounter it. Technically you could completely bypass the encounter by cutting down the whole forrest during the day.
@Ian64Ай бұрын
They should call it the Pale Woods
@HyperforgАй бұрын
Something that could be really cool is if it had unique pillager outposts that show it was a failed pillager experiment
@julianemery718Ай бұрын
!!!! The creaking could turn into pale oak saplings during the day, thar would be a massive incentive to visit the pale forest. You don't get the saplings from the leaves themselves.
@DaCostaRica4826 күн бұрын
in my opinion there needs to be multiple sizes and types like some could have 1 eye while some could have more one could be 1 block tall while one could be 4 i think howling wind white pumpkins and a sort of screaming noise would help like the hybrid from jurassic world camp creatatous season 3 they should add cabe section and imagine a thing like the ancient city full of creaking they need to make the biome bigger more plants fog make thunder storms more common in that biome make the wood so it doesn’t burn maybe give it poses and a spawn animation fallen over trees bushes tall grass maybe fire flies so you have to pay attention to make sure its actually the creaking your looking at
@jackleetch8511Ай бұрын
The ruined garden has to have trial ruins unique to it. Tie in old mechanics. I also think creaking should do low damage but high hit rate that way looking away for a bit will cause a lot of damage but quick reactions will add counter play to the invincible mob
@smellslikesoulsАй бұрын
2:36 while i see where you’re coming from, you have to remember this is a overworld surface biome, meaning a new player could just get unlucky and spawn in it. if they wanted to make it an actual challenge they would have to put it somewhere else. i think the focus is more on atmosphere than it is a challenge like the warden, which makes the dark oak forest reskin and lack of fog and plants more confusing to me
@crimsoncapricorn188Ай бұрын
You spawn in at morning tho
@josephm5695Ай бұрын
They should just make it only generate far away from the world spawn like woodland mansions, or only surrounded by ocean, like mushroom biomes, then it would be more of a challenge to find, while also not overwhelming new players.
@Gleb19979797Ай бұрын
Yap, good thinks. Hmm, if they create tree seed with special form, maybe they create this form for old trees
