Thank you so much for this. As a new diagnosee (9 mos.), I'm learning the ropes of Parkinson's, and hearing you both describe symptoms and management is a huuge help. As more of a PIGD type sufferer, I also have spinal stenosis and a bulging disc from a lifetime of hard, active work- the pain can be really sharp and deliberate feeling when the Sinemet isn't working, but it thankfully does for 4-5 hour periods. This sounds unworthy, but my 'biggest' suffering is just not being physically able to perform like I used to. I'm still thinking my physical output should be like it was- and still think and plan accordingly- but reality puts me down every day. Fortunately(!), the depression I used to suffer from is much better now with more dopamine headed to my brain. Happy Holidays!

Thanks for your comment. Changes in physical ability are significant challenges for many people with Parkinson's and can impact many aspects of life, including relationships with friends and family. We're glad that medication is helping, and with new treatments recently approved and on the horizon, there's reason to hope this can be true for a long time. Happy Holidays to you too!

I like to make my medication more ‘sacred’ by using a blue bottle that I’ve put in the sun for several minutes and prayed over (sent loving thoughts to). This makes me happier about having to take medicine 5X a day. Meditation helps too. Thanks ladies!

As per your prompt, here's a few special things that work for me and my PD: Prepping the next days meds the evening before so I don't have to worry about it. Walking my dog several times a day and a frisbee playtime with him in the afternoon. Being part of a dance exercise group here in the Colorado Front Range: 3rd Law Dance Theater. Maintaining my sleep schedule. And the best thing is being able to be romantic with my wife and we both enjoying personal time together.

Inversions are what works for getting me in a parasympathetic zen mode almost every time. It doesn’t have to be a fancy yoga pose, just laying back on an exercise ball or a simple standing forward fold. Or even legs up the wall but I think that takes a little longer. Also, half-moon pose (totally modified to make it supported and easy) seems a little more difficult but it’s the surest bet for me.

I'm slowly but surely getting ready for company on the 30th. A cousin & his wife, on their way from California back up to New Jersey and Connecticut. 😊 Been organizing and defunkifying myself and my apartment around all my crazy sleep like seizure/dystonia symptoms. I gotta bring on the funk, to defunkify the other funk from my stinky food prep.😂 The asparagus from last week still lingers. ...and mushrooms have got to be prepared today, amongst other things. Music music music, will help me make it through it all, including the night. Thankful to have heard from my brother today and he's still alive, and huddled up after getting hit by another car I'm guessing while on his bike. Someone else had his phone a few days. A stranger of course. Good news he got his ID finally again. Eventually can get on a plane or bus out to where there's no landlord that can flip the place, or HOA to kick him off his place. Heard a funny song this morning called Chocolate On My Tongue. "If I die young, at least I'll have chocolate 🍫 on my tongue. My body needs 70's funkadelic right now though, and jazz big band swing. I did hear the fun from cocenter dot org this year, preparing turkeys for this year, as every year, at Colorado School for the blind which is even more hilarious than ever. Love that place and this place❣️About the only two things I still love from Colorado. ...and Red Rocks. Not that things aren't complicated here in Texas too though. Things are complicated all over the world. ❤🌎🌍🌏Hang on everybody❣️
