I love this game, one of my favourite games on the Gameboy. It’s also one of the ones that benefits most from the colour that the Gameboy Color and Advance add to original Gameboy games. Its slower speed is common to Gameboy games of the time. The Gameboy’s refresh rate causes a lot of blur when things are moving. So some games compensated by lowering the speed. The Mega Man and Castlevania games released at around the same time come to mind. I love how the easiest Mario game by far up until this point is also the first one with an easy mode (press select on the file selection screen). I really like how they finally got the save system right. Unlike Super Mario World, your lives are saved also, as well as your power up state. It also saves after every level instead of having to beat a ghost house, castle or fortress to save. A great way to end the classic Mario sidescroller series. It would be fourteen years before the next completely new 2D game in the series. I recently finished Super Mario 64 DS by the way, with the New 3DS analog control patch (so much better than using the dpad or touch screen). Wario is a playable character in that game, though his attributes essentially make him the hard mode of the game. Still, at least he got one mainline game where you can play as him. Either way, another great video, and I’m intrigued to see your Super Mario 64 one. I didn’t play either version until this year, so I don’t have nostalgia for it, but it’ll be interesting to hear your thoughts on it. I’m playing through the 3D games for the first time now, starting with Mario 64 then Sunshine and now Mario 64 DS, though I did beat Mario 3D Land a long time ago.

Mario Land 2 is soooooooo good. Sure, it's not perfect, and is really easy, but it's just fun AF. I hope they can keep up with this quality. What's next? Ma- Mario 64... Oh no. Good luck with the comments on that vid. You're gonna need it

Mario Land 2 is one of those games where my only major complaint is there not being more. Not only because the level design itself is great, but also because this game's thematics are great, and very few Mario games have come close to reaching this one's level of "vibes" for a lack of a better term.

I've been playing Mario Land 2 so much recently that it is now officially my favorite Mario game over Mario Land 1 lol Really loved the review although I don't agree with everything. Interestingly, I also don't really like Mario 64! Can't wait to see the comments on that one, Hopefully you'll make it out alive! Also, It's no longer theoretical, I beat Mario Land 2 on real hardware (Super Famicom with a Super Gameboy 2 and an actual copy of Mario Land 2) with only 2 coins! That's only with the minimum possible levels though, Now I need to do the secret stages, which will add a little over 20 to my coin count lol
