We're used to seeing Batman everywhere because we're used to Batman stories. But in huge city like Gotham it's not realistic for Batman to be everywhere at once. Also that explosion only took out an intersection and I wouldn't expect Batman to come out in the middle of the day just because something blew up. He would investigate it afterwards but after Oz provided a really good reason for the explosion, that the city went along with, there wouldn't be anything to investigate.

Sofia didn't have a big character change. It slowly took place as she became more and more desperate to get Oz back for what he had done to her as she was losing herself and becoming more like her father. Getting back at the people who wronged her was her ultimate objective all along, especially after she found out Oz killed her only family left (Alberto). It made complete sense to me. She is one of the best batman villains we've ever seen on screen. Same with this version of Oz. Also the show did have connections to the movie, and some cop characters from the movie. The police chief we saw in ep 5 and 8 was from the batman, Kenzie was in the flashback with Sofia was the cooked cop from the batman, and Bella Real in ep 8 was ofc from the batman.
@Mr_Rob_otto13 күн бұрын
I don’t see Sofia as a Batman villian at all. As you noted, she was a woman who was wronged by her family and by Oz and was hellbent on revenge. 4:18 My reasoning for Batman being AWOL (which honestly, I thought this would be the most popular take out there) is that how we recall, Bruce had a big realization at the end of the movie. After being Batman 24/7 for the last two years, and he finally learned he needs to be something more than “vengeance”, he took on a small hiatus from being Batman for once to work on his Bruce Wayne persona. Being more involved in Wayne Industries, going to board meetings, charities, etc., putting Batman on a very short hold while he fixes his life together. That’s my take. But since the second movie will take place merely a week after the events of this show, Batman will come back with a vengeance either way

That was because as Bruce Wayne, he was lobbying the government and laying the groundwork to ending that status. But in the Penguin series, there doesn't seem to be any hints of the government abandoning Gotham so it doesn't really explain Batman's apparent absence in this story. Even a couple lines of dialogue in a news broadcast about him in the background could have worked.

The entire point of Sofias change and shift away from the Mafia is representstive of her using it as a means to an end to get what she wants. Its not her turning into a stereotypical Batman villain. She doesnt care about the Mafia. She was literally leaving Gotham. Her outfits becoming more outlandish represents her coming out of the facade she created. Like how when she first appears, she plays on the Hangman thing until its not useful to her anymore. Her arc is literally parallel to Selenas. Taking on various identities and personas to get what she wants before ultimately leaving it all behind. The difference being that Selena had allies to help her get out, and Sofia didnt.

I like how stripped down the show was in terms of easter eggs. Having a mostly small cast specific to the show actually makes the world seem bigger, with only a few references reminding us that it indeed is the same world, though only a small part of it. More of this, less of needless references, please.

I think binging the show in full, prior to it being released, gave a bad impression. The show didn’t feel slow at all. Every episode satisfied on its own.

WTF are you talking about with Fort Lee and the George Washington bridge? The entire show is in New Jersey because that's where Gotham is. Also, I'm very happy that some of the things you criticized weren't spoon-fed to us. It's nice that the creators respected the audience enough to follow along, though apparently, by your review, that didn't apply in all cases.

I really like that no main characters from the film appeared. It made me feel more connected to the characters in this show without them getting upstaged-even rewatching The Batman knowing what we know now is a whole new experience with Oz scenes. The ending teases were enough for me!
@mastaovdafist355113 күн бұрын
The only real issue I had was Oz pulling a Jason Bourne at the club and then carrying his mom off like it was nothing. The show already did a great job at establishing that Oz isn't the strongest fighter, hell, even Salvatore was kicking his ass! I just couldn't see Vic not being able to overpower Oz at the end. Even with that little nitpick, it's still a 10/10 series!

Adrenaline is a hell of a thing. Also, they also showed him carrying a dead body the same way in the first episode.

Oz had many badass scenes like in the truck. Also he didn’t get completely destroyed by Sal. Sal is also 6’3, he’s a monster compared to Vic. Vic is a smaller guy than Oz and Oz has that devilish power behind him while Vic was likely just in shock and not knowing how to fight back

I absolutely LOVED this entire series... Brilliant acting ...Sofia Falcone, Penguin, Victor., Eve Karlo.. I would argue not having Batman in this was the right choice. This is Penguin's backstory... Now appreciate Penguin as a true villain, a monster ... which I previously had not... Wish there was more DC programming like this!!! Kudos to Matt Reeves.

Grace, what do you mean the Batman movie had a low box office, when it did 770m during a pandemic 🤔🤔

OZ truly loved no one and only cared for himself. Vic was finally excited about life and he killed him. His mom said if her mind goes she goes and he kept her alive after promising her he wouldnt make her live through that. If that tear in her eye at the penthouse is any indication she's aware of whats going on....she is being tortured.

Batman doesnt need to show up, batman isnt established, id like to think he is investigating about what is going on but why would he get in the middle of a gang war lol. And im pretty sure this will be addressed in the movie and y’all regret it 😂 Thats why the show is great, its not marvel and doesnt need tons of easter eggs to make its public feel wise. We already got the police man with the weird voice ! Its enough lol. And i LOVE IT LIKE THAT. It wouldnt have serve the story or make the show better, only some people happy because they wanted it

Vic never died. He improvised and acted like he passed. He eventually meets Batman in The Batman Part 2. He helps Batman how to get to the Penguin and eventually becomes his Robin.

I loved that during the series u feel Oz respects Victor and does it shows he has some class and empathy for each other until that moment he doesn’t want Victor to become his weakness . I knew right when he says to Oz “ ur like family “ that sealed the deal for him and Oz probably went thru with it impulsively. As many times as victor saved him throughout he would have made a great ally also it was hard to see him go I’d liked to see him return .
