VERY USEFUL CONVERSATION PENUEL. AT LEAST THIS APPROACH IS REALISTIC AND FUTURISTIC CONSIDERING THAT STRUCTURES THAT GOT NEGLECTED MAY STILL BE REBUILT.

Why do the Afrikaners always bring up the Anglo Boer war? It was over 100 years ago but they won't acknowledge the black people referring to their hardships from Apartheid 30 years ago

Maybe because they fought for their freedom and their mother language to be protected. It was huge. It's like asking why do people still bring up apartheid? The difference is, go see how many Afrikaners got stuck in this Anglo mindset, and go see how many people are stuck in apartheid. Afrikaners are not stuck.

The British project of Colonialism was the project of ushering in the Modern Age. They were among the first to develop technologically and they used their technological advancement to spread their Empire across much of the world. They established global trading routes, a global economy, and benefited most of the people whose lands they came to. The British couldn't have been successful without the help of the local population. Most administrators in Colonial governments were locals and they welcomed the better life that Colonialism often (but not always) brought. As far as why English is the global language, it has more to do with the cultural and economic influence of the United States.

5:26 If your guest’s claims on the Afrikaner community being “extremely willing to share and participate…” are true why then not show it by sharing the land which they have with the local indigenous African people who have the capacity to farm and produce for the benefit of their communities? In the unlikely case that there’s no indigenous African who can farm, I’m sure there are skilled and productive African youth who are willing to be trained to farm at a professional level like or better than Afrikaners given the land, resources and opportunities.

The difference between English and "Afrikaans" language: "Afrikaans" cannot be seperated from "Afrikaner" Nationalism and their atrocious policies towards Black and Brown South Africans. English on the other hand has establushed itself in various variants in communities all over the world. It's not only the language of Shakespeare or Churchill, but also the language of Langston Hughes and James Baldwin. "Afrikaans" (from a 1970s perspective) was the language of Verwoerd (who paradoxically was not an "Afrikaner", but a continental Dutchman) and Baaskap. Not associated with any progressive or worthwhile thought, but hate and bigotry only.
