Having had a 382 the first thing I spotted was the keel blocking. Glad you pointed that out right away - it shows your honesty and integrity. They are great boats, high coamings in cockpit, solid feel underfoot and underway, sail beautifully, comfy below, and able to go anywhere. The owners webite is invaluable. Having owned other boats I think i would prefer the traveler on deck of the 384 over the one in the cockpit. Great job showing this boat and great job with your channel!

As soon as I heard "spanner" I knew it had to be Canadian Ken talking. Ken, Ken, Ken, you looked at the instructions, you now have to surrender your M.A.N. card for at least a year at which time your membership may be reviewed for reinstatement. Looks like a nice ebike, but with my motorcycle, in the bed of my pickup with the boat on top of the pickup being hauled behind a 37 ft motor home I just don't think I've got room for it. All of that aside, that looks like a very nice boat. The wood inside was beautiful and i didn't see too much if any evidence of leaking. Keep the good stuff coming guys.

Just for the record, I never read the instructions which is why I thought the range was 20 miles instead of 70… I think Ken read them as one would look at a flip book. Ha!

Guys... When you take that bike anywhere near salt water, you want to make sure att MINIMUM that the battery is in a reliable waterproof case or bag. And stow it in a place where the battery is kept from experiencing and kinds of impact. Salt water and lithium ion batteries is dangerous.i would also get a waterproof gear bag for the bike itself. If you treat it right, an ebike is an excellent travel tool.❤

Nice boat. The new Beta diesel is a huge upgrade. There is a Morgan 38 in Southwest Harbor. I don't know which version it is, but it looks like a powerful sailing boat.

Apparently this boat has an offer in on it. I’m jealous. The new Beta is a beauty. The 38s are very nice to sail. I would like to try the 383 or 384 with its taller rig and bigger rudder. But I’m not complaining, we get around just fine with the 382…😊

Great episode ... would have been nice had you compared the asking price on this boat with what you bought yours for as a comparison -- obviously the market changes year to year, but how do the two models compare to one another? Does one have a bigger following than the other? How they both compared to the Morgan 381 (Catalina) which had similar numbers on sailboat data (longer LWL and faster hull speed) but very compatible as a successor. Keep up the great work!!!

I know! So many things we forgot to mention! More than 500 of the three models were made, 300 of the 382s. A real cult following on the internet. Tons of information out there… We’ll keep trying! One thing you forgot to address that you usually do I believe is the standing headroom. I think this is a very important consideration for those of us who stand over 6ft. My research indicates for these Brewer-designed Morgan 38s the standing headroom is only 6'2".

Coincidence, just met a boat neighbor with a beautiful example of a Morgan 383.Very nice boat. This was a fine example. How can you go wrong with a repowered boat ? Would you call your v berth a pullman berth ? Just curious. @@boatfools I am located in Virginia. My wife and I love New England. Maine was cool..the land of Dunkin Donuts and Blueberries. Perhaps once I am closer to selecting a sailboat you might do an interview that addresses the challenges of living with disabilities and also of some of the great organizations that help veterans. I am a huge fan of the VA. So in my case, if we were at sea and had issues with depression, and I had connectivity, I could email or video conference with my doctors. I served 21 years in the Army Special Forces and got beat up. I still can lead the way in demonstrating that disabilities can be overcome to accomplish even difficult tasks. Thrank you so much for your concern.

The windless should NOT be fixed to the anchor locker lid. How'd you miss that? The forward traveller position gives way less mechanical advantage to yours. I'm always uncomfortable with mid boom sheeting too. It creates a fulcrum and what my brain calls boom "bend moment" under sail..... especially when my crew see nothing wrong with adding to that by positioning a preventer at boom end.... and then think it would be better winch tight (meanwhile I'm waiting for the mid boom crease). Don't get me thinking about lateral stress on the gooseneck. Anyway none of that can have happened to your rig during or before your tenure. 😏

That anchor hatch had been reinforced and it wasn’t going anywhere. But my issue with it was the lack of access to the compartment itself, in case the rode was fouled in some way. Definitely serviceable but not ideal. Appreciate the comment and feedback!

Why not? Unless one can afford $60k-plus for a newer used boat with the newer design elements, such as a closer ratio between LWL & LOA, boats like this amazing vessel are our wheelhouse. And, even if price weren’t a consideration, IMO boats with some overhang are vastly more aesthetically pleasing than newer designs, despite their shortcomings in interior volume. If you live in a place where slips are your only option, I get it. But, this boat was made in 1986. Of course it’s not going to look like today’s boats - which IMO - is precisely her appeal. And the price.

I would not have promoted the word "seacock" but would have referred to it as "the valve" instead, I find the name really perverted to whoever at Google came up with it, just look at what they say when you look up the term!. : "A seacock is called a seacock because it's a valve on a ship or boat's hull that allows water to flow in or out of the vessel. The term "seacock" is specific to the valve that controls the flow of water, while "skin fittings" is a more general term that can also refer to the underwater skin fitting." So polluted!..

@@boatfools The voices on your video are coming out of the left and right channel. The man with the baseball hat on at the beginning is on the right channel, other guy is on the left. This problem can be fixed in whatever editing program you use. You're probably bringing in the two mic channels as stereo, but you want to set them up as two mono channels. Maybe you're not monitoring your edit in stereo? Not sure... but you should play it back with headphones on to double check. I don't have headphones, but I do have two speakers. I agree, it's very hard to listen to! Same problem on your next video too.
