I think Adachi even says that Dojima keeps to himself at the station and he's basically the only person he hangs out with - so I think introvert is really spot on. (Makes the whole thing between them kinda tragic, in my opinion. Actually, I just feel so bad for Dojima during end game time in general. The poor dude just can't catch a break.)

Seeing this notification was exciting, since Dojima is my favorite Pesona character to date. As soon as you got into the Myers-Briggs I gave a quick guess of either ISTJ or INTJ, but your analysis definitely swayed me. I'm not as into MBTI as some people, but I seem to bounce between INFJ and INTJ myself, so I guess I can just relate, lol I think Dojima can be a tough character to appreciate given his behavior if you never develop his Social Link, but what I find interesting about his character is his unwillingness to move forward without his wife when he doesn't really know HOW to. It's easier to bury himself in a world he knows (work) than to try and navigate a world that is emotionally taxing and he has no roadmap for (home life). There is, imo, an almost palpable fear of failure there. The in-game events of November will give him that harsh push eventually either way, but not developing his Social Link is missing out on some great developmental beats. He really seems to grow to care for Yu as his own son and it's a cool way of getting into that inner sphere of his; being old enough to help him process his emotions in a way that Nanako can't, while also becoming someone he cares for in the same way. It makes Yu's relationship with him even more complex, and brings an extra layer of dichotomy to him trying to look out for you in both his professional and personal capabilities. Plus, he's just a secretly really cool Uncle. Especially in Golden when he gives you his scooter after a good ol' fashioned safety grilling. Iirc it was implied that he was wilder as a young guy and I think that's hilarious. Great video, it was enjoyable as always! Thank you!

I definitely do agree with this assessment. He definitely can come across as cold and distant but it’s because he’s someone who is so caught up in the details of his life, that if often takes a little push for him to see the people or things that are right in front of him. Congrats on 5K subs btw! If anyone on this platform deserves it, it’s you man! Keep up this great work and I’m already eagerly awaiting your next video.

Throughout my experience playing P4 I always felt a sharp, tragic kinship with Dojima. Seems like the sort of character a teenager would blame for neglect (a correct stance given how he treats Nanako), but as someone who is both a primary breadwinner of a household and not as close to my 'charges' as they are to each other, Dojima's apparent self-perception as someone who must dutifully provide without receiving or giving out intimacy really stings because I can see myself coming to believe it of myself.

The prayer for ISTJ, “Help me relax about insignificant details, starting tomorrow at. 11:42:23 EST.” What I don’t get about Dojima’s personality is why he puts so much responsibility on his daughter. Nanako is what, six, seven, and she does the laundry and buys all the groceries, usually when we come home she’s by herself. I know it’s the nature of his job to be away, but at least get a housekeeper or a nanny. Why is he so concerned of us going out at night when he’s comfortable with his little girl being alone in the house?
@lunaesic4 жыл бұрын
i assume that ties into how nanako is his daughter, and she's been tied to that responsibility for a long time (i'd say as early as when she was able to do most activities). with the protagonist, he doesn't really know what we would do, and as a parent should, he's worried about us.

I like Dojima but, I think it's a shame that the subplot about him looking for his wife's murderer went nowhere. He's still flipping through files looking near end of his social link and he kind of treats it like a hobby.
@thesilverblueman3 жыл бұрын
this is late but thats kind of the point throughout his social link its stated multiple times that the case is cold and the criminal may have long left the country (it was a foreign car) he in reality has almost no chance of ever finding the killer and instead he should focus on his daughter to be an actual father before its to late to be one to her
@Algernonab3 жыл бұрын
I don't know if you're still looking at Persona characters to do analyses of, but Jun Kurosu from Persona 2: Innocent Sin seems like a prime candidate for something like this. Tatsuya Suou would also work to a lesser extent, but he would essentially require that you play both Innocent Sin and Eternal Punishment to get the full picture.

man, every time I watch one of your vids, I am reminded that people are different. I have a Multiple scleroses, the quick and dirty and partly wrong/yet right explanation, is that my immune system thinks my brain is a virus. this ONLY effects things that my brain controls... yea. A short time ago, I had a depression that was more than I could handle, so I got to see a psychologist about it, I mentioned that I picked up a game that was kind of helping work through my issues(thank you factorio) and he told me I should stop playing Video games because they are pointless and nothing ever comes from them, and I should instead come to his church. oddly enough, that was my last appointment with him... with the help of my two nephews, and various video games, I pulled my self out, just enough to stop doing the whole self-mutilation thing(lighter burns) and I now no longer have any serious suicidal thoughts. Thanks to nephews and video games. To see a person who is trying to get a degree in mental health counseling, so pro-games, does my heart good. Thank you!

Your Rise video got me addicted to using a free online Myers Briggs test on fictional characters, and interestingly Naoto ended up getting ISTJ for me. It seems like a lot of detective characters gravitate towards that archetype, although I can see arguments for Naoto being INTJ. I'm sure everyone would agree she's at least I,T and J though. I also tried Kanji and he ended up as ISFP, which is often associated with artistic people.

Good video, I feel Kasumi from P5 would be good too. Kasumi because I feel she would be very unstable character dealing with the past, from grief to feeling inadequate their so many things she would need to pick it on. Their lot of things she would need counseling for and would take many years. Whew that's would be lot of work to be honest even I don't know where to start. It's spot on Dojima is introverted, you never see him as outgoing type. Work is usually his way of dealing or keeping him occupied with things, although Yu does help him learn how to begins his steps with dealing with Nanako.

So despite all the time I took in high school and college studying psychology, this never occurred to me. Can we say MBTI is the astrology of psychology? 🤣
@ThoughtBubbleYT4 жыл бұрын
I would highly disagree, while MBTI shouldn’t be used to explicitly define yourself as a person, it does have distinct uses in a clinical setting when the results are reviewed with a professional and the test is used as a means of self-exploration. I will put an asterisk beside that though because a lot of the online tests essentially have the reliability and validity of astrology. Lol
