I am a big Petersens fan. Check out their video of "Down to the River to Pray" to hear some amazing harmonies.

Most of the Branson shows go for your head. They want to blow to your mind so they can fill 1,000 seat theaters three or more times each week. By contrast, the Petersen's are the Branson show that goes for your heart. They want you to fall in love with the music and the family band, following them on social media. They are very good at it. A heart group doing mostly afternoon shows in a small 200 seat theater has more subscriptions and views on KZbin than the other 196 Branson shows combined (btw If you want a musical vacation consider going to Branson MO). The Petersen's have an amazing ability to win fans with beautiful pure music using those acoustic string instruments and wonderful sibling harmonies.

I love this group, they are so good. They have great personalities too. They do some vlogging from time to time on their channel. On a sidenote checkout Billy Strings "Dust in a baggie" sometime, its very bluegrassy and just a fantastic song, he plays the hell out of the guitar.. Great job as always, Don!

It was my pleasure, as I may have a new favorite band and a growing fondness for bluegrass. I already liked bluegrass, but it's hitting a new stride now.

Thanks for the intel, Richard! I'll add them to the list and give them some exposure here on the channel. My fondness for bluegrass is growing, and I already liked it. We'll see where it goes, and I'm sure you'll share your insights along the way. 🙂

@@RockN2Country JLGWW2022 has actually requested The Cotton Pickin' Kids a couple of times before too. If you truly want to get into Bluegrass you should also check out a couple of the old masters Bill Monroe and Flatt and Scruggs-----#UTRCM

Just great! I agree with your observation that the elements of bluegrass and country are blended by them in a unique way. There are other family groups that I like too, there's something about the harmony that siblings bring to the table that's undeniable! Great choice Don, and thanks for another wonderful reaction!

I didn't see the dad in the video, but as a father of three gorgeous daughters...my guess is he's sitting just off-camera oiling his shotgun (at least that's what I'd be doing). :-) I don't think anyone's brought up that "Tulsa Time" was written by Danny Flowers and he even has a couple KZbin videos performing the song himself. As much as I enjoyed the Don Williams version, my go-to these days is the cover by Jason Boland and the Stragglers. He brings a youthful Red Dirt feel to it and even shouts out Mr. Flowers. Don, hope your family member is feeling a little better...y'all are in my prayers.

@David Emswiler I hear ya on the protective instincts for the girls. I’ve figured out that I am delusional when it comes to my perception about myself as mellow, mild-mannered guy, as I’ve been told by so many of the young girls (my own included), that I am horrible whenever I find out they’ve got a boyfriend. I’ve come to accept the horribleness, so let the interrogations begin. Every guy should be made to go through a rite of passage. Maybe it’s not delusion as much as a tiny little blind spot. Ha! Thank you for the prayers. He’ll be healing gradually, but healing nonetheless.

Based your comment, I think you might enjoy the Petersens' song "My Daddy's Got a Gun" written by the two oldest daughters. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nX3TXp-Cm7WKkKM At the time that video was shot, the Dad was still playing bass. He can also play guitar, piano and tenor saxophone at a high level. He does still sometimes come on stage with them on for special performances. Otherwise, he works as an M.D. in their community.

Thank You Don. That was great. Nice to see a group who seems to have wholesome family values. The three beautiful young women are not flaunting their sexuality, ie: Aren’t wearing the shortest dresses they can find or trying to show off cleavage !! How could they with mother standing behind them ??? Bet you won’t hear any f-bombs from them !!! That’s very classy !!! Love the dimples on the one playing mandolin…couldn’t see if the other two had them. Would love to see them in concert. A very talented family and fun to watch !!!

I do love this song very much. I'm familiar with Don Williams' version, and Eric Clapton's version. I've seen these two artists live. This is great. Thanks for sharing this reaction video. Cheers! ✌️

Hi Don, while I love this song and band and also appreciate your love of them I feel I must point out that family bands in Bluegrass aren't all that rare. The Cox Family is every bit as talented as these guys, a great song by them is "Will There be Stars in my Crown", The Whites are another one, i really like their song " Good Morning Country Rain". But again we are caught in the loop, where we circle around the same bands while so much goes unheard.---#UTRCM

The guys sing too, but the girls are the show. The brother, Matt(guitar) best song is probably It's Gonna Miss Her. The Dobro Guy( Emmet) best song is It Rains Everywhere I Go.

The question i have is are they multi-tracking it and remixing it or is it all live audio to tape. (File) No big deal but inquiring minds would like to know. . .

@donmchattie226 Not sure where you got the idea that I would be afraid to rate something a 10, but maybe I didn't think it was a 10? Hint: that's the most likely explanation and one that should be assumed.
