Pressing Mike was honestly the best strategy you could have, the bully never likes being bullied. At the beginning you can see Tyson was slightly shocked at the fact somebody was literally sprinting across the ring at him. The stones it took
@willie417
@willie417 2 жыл бұрын
But Mike like fighting up close and personal so No! that wasn't the best strategy, Oh! another mistake thinking he's a Bully because, he's not a Bully, he a professional fighter, now if you have a good jab you might last 6 rounds, but after 3 rounds of successful jabs most fighters got to comfortable thinking he's not that tough, stop the jab and let him get in too close, then they got knock out
@VCthaGOATdunker
@VCthaGOATdunker Жыл бұрын
@@willie417 Tyson has always been the epitome of a bully in boxing. You fight back without fear, you beat him. Douglas, Holyfield, Lewis, Williams and Mcbride can all vouch for that. Tyson never won a fight where he went down to the canvas, in his entire career there is only maybe 1 fight he managed to win while being slightly behind on the scorecards and that was vs Botha. Tyson was a bully who would break if someone did well against him. The facts support this.

A true mesomorph like Arnold, with probably a couple of inches on him, but the grace of a lion. Tom never took up the sport, even as a hobby as far as i know. The 2nd oldest sibling and older brother of Pete (Sean) has the most terrifying hands you will ever see on a man. I don't know if I can agree with you. Holyfield beat Tyson coming after him and not being afraid as did Douglas. They both went at him and won against a prime Tyson. McNeely is right in saying he fought Tyson by attacking and without fear but he's not the only person who fought him going toe-to-toe and on the attack. Few did. He's right on that. It was gutsy but that right uppercut ended many fighter's night early.

What are you talking about his build up for the fight was theatrics, his speech was longer then the fight, a lot of people give him credit, 1. He's a boxer this is what he does and 2. When you want money and to make a name for yourself of course you fight taxi drivers and troll the heavyweight champion of the world.

Hi Peter, before the Tyson fight, me and my brother met you at the Tropicana pool in Vegas. We said our hometown is rooting for you, they even had banners in your name. I said it’s time, you have to do it, it has to be by knockout. You knew what you had to do. You did your best. That first round you wrapped Tyson in a Cocoon of Horror! Love live Peter McNeeley !

That was fascinating. I've watched that fight many times over the years, but never noticed that you actually got punched in that first knock down. I always thought you just tripped and fell backwards. It makes a lot more sense now. It was really cool to see you charge at him like that. Beating him on boxing skills, speed or power, was never going to work. But simply catching him off guard may have.

As short as this fight was, it remains one of my all time favorite Mike Tyson related fights :). A lot of this has to do with you going toe-to-toe with Mike Tyson from the get go, giving boxing fans that "oh shit, he's actually going for it!" moment. Sure, you took a serious gamble there, but it made the fight that much more exciting as a result! Mark Young, Reggie Gross and Trevor Berbick also attempted to bring the fight to Mike, but not as dramatically as you did :). That AWESOME staredown between you two before the opening bell is easily the most memorable/enjoyable in boxing history! I love how you laughed off Mike's intensity, especially since he is all about intimidation and you were having absolutely none of those bullshit mind games before the bell hahaha! The only one that made me laugh more, but in the making fun of sense, was when Lennox Lewis REFUSED to blink against Shannon Briggs from before the time each fighter was introduced by Michael Buffer, all the way up until the instructions from referee Frank Cappuccino hahaha! It was SO forced in comparison to the truly badass staredown that you were involved in :). Anyway, thank you for the memories, Peter! All the best to you and your family! Keep it up and NEVER give up!

So much respect to you Hurricane. Takes huge balls to even step in the ring, to look him in the eye, to rush right at him and throw toe to toe, and to get back up after taking his hardest shots. Boxing is so incredibly hard and people don’t even realize. Stand proud man. Hope you’re doing alright nowadays, god bless ya.

Smart if you wanted to get out of there early. If he was smart he would’ve put his weight on the smaller man that hasn’t fought in almost 4 years. Hug him. Make him hold you up. Wear his arms out. Then charge him. That plan he had was stupid. He got caught immediately.
