The infamous shark flexes his muscles as he pulls a deck to shreds enticed by a wife's holiday roast ham!
From Jaws (1975): When a young woman is killed by a shark while skinny-dipping near the New England tourist town of Amity Island, police chief Martin Brody (Roy Scheider) wants to close the beaches, but mayor Larry Vaughn (Murray Hamilton) overrules him, fearing that the loss of tourist revenue will cripple the town. Ichthyologist Matt Hooper (Richard Dreyfuss) and grizzled ship captain Quint (Robert Shaw) offer to help Brody capture the killer beast, and the trio engage in an epic battle of man vs. nature.

Poor Charlie and his controlling older buddy. First of all, you can tell Charlie was likely put up to this by his older buddy when he asks him: "Can we go home?" And of course, who's doing the hard work of rowing the boat a good distance? Charlie. And when they get to the wharf, who's roast is it that's being hooked and tossed into the water? Charlie's wife's holiday roast. When Charlie kind of complains, the old guy says, "Don't worry, $3000 [Mrs. Kintner's reward money] buys a lot of roast." And lastly, who's the one who almost gets eaten by the giant shark when the wharf comes apart? Poor Charlie, of course. Glad Charlie finally got to go home in the end.

one of my favorite scenes, even if it is difficult to define which is the most beautiful scene in this film also because they are all beautiful.

this shows you don't need a Shark fin to make this scene look terrifying

This scene shows the exact reason the movie was far more terrifying because you DON'T see the shark. The whole time you're wondering how close the shark actually is to Charlie and he's likely RIGHT behind him, gives up when Charlie reaches the leftovers of the pier but we don't see it

The size of the pier turning back around… is absolutely terrifying, because your imagination realizes how big and powerful this movie monster is.

Is it just me or was that pretty graphic when they showed images of shark attack victims? That last picture of that one guy’s leg torn open is gruesome!

These are predators whose "exploratory bites" can rip out big chunks of flesh after all. Ouch! 😖

Yes but they weren't fresh bloody wounds so they didn't have that recoil-in-horror effect. What you saw had healed considerably so you only get a idea of the size scale, not gory details.

I actually recognize several of the pictures that Brody is looking at: many were also printed in old copy of National Geographic we had on the shelf in my school in the 89s, years after this movie.

By the length of the chain & the distance between the dock that was dragged out to sea & Charlie, when he was swimming back to the dock the shark should have got him. Can we go home now.
