We're headed to Pennsylvania, where we'll learn that Philly is about more than the cheesesteak. Frank Pinello meets with a fourth-generation pizzaiolo and a new-school dough wizard who show us that there's not one style defining Philly pizza, and that's a good thing. Between ingredient shopping at the South 9th Street Italian Market and trying the Philly Taco on South Street, Frank gets the full tour of the Philadelphia pizza scene before heading out to Roots Country Market in Lancaster to meet with seventy-year-old Norma Knepp who can make pizza with (or better than) the best of them. There's so much delicious pizza packed into the state, we're petitioning to have it renamed Pizzalyvania.

Alan but it bothers me when he goes to cities like philly and Chicago and even Naples and hits these major chains. Many of these places are hardly hidden gems. Best restaurants, including pizza shops, don’t belong to major food companies.

My brother's douchbag cat is really loud when no one is home, but one day, we found out that Frank's voice soothed him. Now before we leave for work in the morning, we set his furry ass up with the Pizza Show playlist so he doesn't bother the neighbors with his bitching. Thank you, Frank. Thank you for bringing peace to my home, pizza really does sooth the restless beast.

It was really weird seeing Frank have to fold his arms, lean against a countertop, and actively stop himself from helping ... he's usually so helpful and engaged with his hosts but this guy was like "My pizza is sacred, keep your filthy peasant hands off of it." It reminds me of that guy in either the Rome episode or the Naples episode ... who said "You're a baker, you're a pizzaiolo, not a heart surgeon." Meaning pizza isn't a religion and shouldn't be so damn serious.

I remember the first time I went to Italy as a kid and went round to my aunt's neighbours house to eat and she had made a large pan pizza with potato on top, I reeeeeally wasn't sure about it... I ate it and it instantly made sense 🤗 that potato and ricotta slice brought it all back for me, looks so yum

My family's core is from Utica, NY and the old school way of life lives there just like this. I grew up in Florida in the very early 90's and remember my grandparents taking me to an Italian market that did it just like this. I love how this video brought up old school memories. We must be eating like Gods compared to newer cities elsewhere. Shout out to the mom and pop shops doing it OG style and keeping the family involved.

I'm floored by how many personal connections I have to this video! Joe Beddia and I went to the same high school. I had college classes with a member of the Katz family, and I grew up a few miles from Roots Market in Lancaster. Pizza, Philly, and Lancaster....three of my favorite things in the world...all in one video! Thanks for this, Frank! Oh, also, I've done the Philly Taco twice. It's great.

That solo pizza guy is trying real hard to be the next Dom Demarco and you know what? Sure he may come off a little hipster-ey but if he actually sticks with it for another 50 years his spot might very well become the next Di Fara's. That's what separates the hipster douches from the real artisans. Time spent.

Galactic123 amen, but you can't tell from how he talks he is burnt out, but that is common when you find success suddenly and have to carry the load still. But so many so called new aged restauranteurs come and go quick cause they aren't dedicated they just want to be seen as the hot thing on the review sites and then they are gone, but it's cool when you see a young guy hanging and making a legacy

It's more about taste, bro. I've had Di Fara's. The best pizza I've ever had, but it's not the prettiest NY slice out there. And besides, if he really does it for 50 more years, he'll be constantly perfecting his craft as he goes along. Like Jiro dreams of Sushi, just with pizza.
