Thanks Colonist for asking me. An honor to help with this story and I really hope more people going to play CK. Either Ranked or on the discord servers. If anyone wants some help or advise im always happy to answer them. Or they can join my stream and we can talk about it. We need more C&K players in the world and I hope maybe this will contribute a little bit to it.

There's another layer to playing Saboteur first, then Wedding: mathematically, discarding half your cards always means you discard *_more cards_* if your hand is greater; in this case, it means they are always forced to discard one more card.

Big shout out to WheatCoin for truely capturing the essence of trissie boy in that chair meltdown scene featured at 5:57. Exceptional work as always, WC.

One missing element here about trissie's success is his meta-defining 1st settle methodology as 1st and 2nd, which I believe has 3 principles: 1. Take the settlement with most commodity producing pips 2. Assure yourself a great shot for at least 1 metro if youre able to make second city 3. Don't leave the opponents with killer positions (usually high paper producing + access to ows) All these principles usually work together but I believe trissie is a master of working out the cases where they dont to almost always give himself winning chances. P.S I had only one training session with trissie when I just started and almost immidiately my 0-40 losing streak stopped and I became a 40% wr player. 3 years and 4000 games later I am at almost 60% :) ~Grubdubdub

I don't know the competitive scene, but this sounds a lot more realistic as a part of the explanation. The steps in the video are just common sense for most strategy games. Constantly reassess your win condition(s) and know what your opponents are likely to do (which is often pretty clear at high levels.) Everyone at high levels is already doing that. But discussing actually game strategy probably makes for boring content for most people so I get why it isn't in the video.

Trissie is a great player. Watched some of his streams and learned a lot from it. Also in the discord servers he accomplished so many tournament wins. That is what made him a really great ck player.

Thank you Peter! Always happy when people learn from my streams. I hope there will be more people joining the stream and play some C&K and interacting/talk about C&K.

I was surprised that the season result is finalized at a certain time rather than after all games started during the season have finished. This incentivizes players to draw out a losing game when the season is about to end so that the result counts against the next seaso (if they're currently high in the rankings).

Interesting point! We'll keep it in mind.

Didn't Don Artie (the unnamed Dutch rival) dominate the ranked system more than anyone? He won 4 consecutive seasons!
@colonistio2 ай бұрын
We should add it to the story pipeline! More coming soon...
@Peter-z1x9m2 ай бұрын
Yeah Don Artie won 3 seasons. Also really great and impressive accomplishments. He is a really strong player for sure. But he didnt won as much tournaments as trissie did. His resume is so much longer and diverse then Don Artie. I can understand why colonist made a story of him and i like the way this story is told a lot. Fun to watch!
@trissie892 ай бұрын
I agree, Don Artie is a really strong C&K Player as well. He unfortunately retired and plays so now and then. But definitely one who can considered as one of the best ck players.

I kinda remember watching both the games , trissie's and don artie's at the end of the third season ... Don's lost his game which ended at 00:02 and Trissie won his game at about 00:15 , but both games did not count as the season had ended
@orendafni2 ай бұрын
Don artie is a beast Every season I start a month before him and he passes me by the last month of the season with half as much games... having played both though I believe trissie has an edge. I believe Karm is even better though.😊 ~Grubdubdub

isn't it a 4 player game? Our local meta is that when one player gets too good. They get dogpiled. Everyone knows that trissie is going to win, so everyone makes sure that they don't.

It's a shame Colonist went from a "buy once"-scheme to monthly payment. That's as if you can't buy a boardgame, but have to rent it. After a lifetime, instead of paying 50 dollars for a game once, you end up having paid thousands of dollars. I know you have server costs. But still... These prices are bonkers.

I think the videos pacing and animations are all a little off, as well as having far too many animations and sounds. its abit overkill. As well having a massive clickbait title - wasnt really shocking or "breaking the game" Catan and C&K is generally a slow paced game, this video is trying to be MrBeast style. just not sure if it will resonate with its viewer base or encourage new players I love playing on Colonist, but i think these vids will need alot of improvement to become a regular watch for a wide range of viewers, which keeps the viewers coming back to Colonist, the main aim. Hope the constructive criticism helps! Would love watching some Colonist season update videos, seeing more about the best players progress etc

The flickering transition effect that you employ is distracting and makes the video much harder to watch. I understand that you probably think it’s an artistic choice, but making the video look broken and glitched is honestly ruining it.
